At 27 inches I find that 4K doesn’t matter much. 1440 P is more than good enough at 27in however, I would still make sure that I get a monitor with quantum dot or 10. Bit color for the best experience
Except it does if you are trying to go for true “retina” display as apple dubs it. Higher the PPI, the harder it becomes to distinguish pixels and everything - from text to textures look richer and crisper
I have a Dell 27inch 2k monitor at work vs a 27inch 4k monitor by LG UP850 which was around £350 with 95%dcip3 accuracy - The difference is massive in every way possible, it's a completely different experience even doing simple browsing/RUclips let alone gaming
But if you're ever watching a movie or playing a game at 1080p, it won't look as good on a 1440p monitor because it doesn't scale well. At least, that's what I heard.
Great points. Affordability is important and tech prices drop as the tech becomes more widely available. Also your point on most games not doing 4K 120 or even 4k 60 in some cases is important. Starfield, one of the biggest games of the year, is only doing 4k 30 so I guess it kinda shows how challenging it is for devs to ship 4k 60 or 120 games right now even with the latest gen.
Nah the consoles aren’t the problem in this case. A $1000 PC could barely run the game at 4K 30fps. It’s just not optimized well and depends on the cpu too much
I have a PC with a Rtx 4070 and Ryzen 9 which is way better than an rx 6800 and it can barely run the game at 4k 40fps at high settings so what you’re saying just isn’t true. So if it can’t even do a native 4K 60fps then a $1000 PC definitely can’t especially a prebuilt one since that’s a more fair comparison since consoles are prebuilt. A PS5 can run that game at 1440p 60fps easily and it’s only $400 compared to the price of an equivalent PC and I would know because I have both a PC and PS5
You made Valid points but I STILL want the 4k. The M32uc that was mentioned in your video right before this one seems like a good budget option for 4k 144hz at around 500$ which is not too bad if you ask me 🤷🏾♂️
that what im saying the console it self can run at 4k now is all comes down to company that makes games to make it 4k but is true theres no mutch games that support right now but what if in future more and more games support 4k then what i feel i be left behind when if company start doing that !
The C looks worse than the m32u, granted it is curved but that also means a VA panel instead of IPS which has better color range. IPS displays can also go to higher refresh rates which if you’re using Xbox won’t matter.
Nah. As someone who's had 4k and 1440p monitors I have to disagree with this. Both the Series X and the PS5 output a 4k image and so buying a 1440p monitor is a massive waste of the hardware. You said it yourself, the list of 120hz games on the consoles is limited so buying any monitor that can output 120hz is a waste of money. Get a monitor that matches what the consoles are actually outputting, which is 4k at 60fps for the majority of the games. It's probably cheaper to get a 4k 60hz tv as they have Dolby Vision support, monitors don't. If you're playing from a desk then just get a cheap 4k 60hz monitor.
PS5 doesnt output 4K 60fps, its either 1440p 60 fps or 4K 30 fps. If you have a 120 hz monitor, ps5 will output 1800p-4K at 40 fps depending on the game. So buying a 1440p 120 hz monitor seems a better idea if you prefer fps over graphics, and with the balance mode even 1440p will look amazing at 40 fps
@@tony_elemento What you mean fps over graphics since they don't support 120fps most games wont 4k still looks better than 1440p right ? You have a good point but now with the PS5 pro most "enhanced games" are running at native or upscaled 4K. We really dont get a choice on the resolution. On my PC I can lower the resolution and gain performace, however on my PS5 pro I'm limited to modes that are trying to output the game a 2160p (4K) and on my 1440p monitor I cannot see 4K on it. Some games on the PS5 pro are running a 4K (give or take some upscaling) at 90 - 120fps. Which is insane. Unfortunately, there are no performance modes for 1440p on the PS5 pro, and I wish there was. So right now i'd highly recommend a 4K display to anyone that has a PS5 pro, and to make double sure that it has HDMI 2.1 for the VRR support. The base PS5 is fine on a 1440p display, because most of the performance modes are running a 1440p (give or take). Whereas most of the performace modes on the PS5 pro are trying to output the game at 4K. you lose alot of performance, and on a lower resolution display you won't see the some of the benefits of having better hardware, such as the game running at a higher resolution.

Buying a 4k monitor isnt just for gaming. There are mini reasons to still buy one despite gaming being more competitive at 1440p high refresh rate. 4k video editing as well as using apple computers is one of the biggest reasons.
I went from a lg 32inch ultragear 1440p monitor to a 43inch 4k 60hz vizio tv. Most games on my series x only run at 60fps anyway. Plus I get 4k visuals and my vizio tv supports vvr. Don't really play fp shooting games other than hell let loose and it looks great on my 4k 60hz tv.

i have the funds and play ps5 on a 4k 60hz tv, but wanna switch to my desk set up. do i buy a 600$ 4k, 144hz monitor - or do i save half and buy a 4k 60fps monitor? im torn. i want the best tech, but is it necessary? especially if some games end up running in 1440 in performance mode?
How can I apply theis when using a PS 4 Pro? Like Im using a 1440 main game PUBG. I still struggle. Like I can see anything out in the distance. Can I get some guidance here, other than upgrading to PS5?
What about VRR which is now available on PS5 and Xbox? For it to work, you need HDMI 2.1. 1440p monitors don’t use 2.1 because they don’t need as much bandwidth. So you can have a VRR/freesync monitor and be completely unable to use it. You can turn it on and the console will say VRR is activated. But it’s not really working.
I use the LG Ultragear 1440p 165hz on the Series X. Colors are amazing and smooth 120 frames, I have fps counter on so I can see my frames at all times. I only have “allow 50hz/24hz” and VRR enabled, everything else unchecked. I use 10 bit color setting as well.
4k 120 was never going to happen on 9th gen games. It makes sense for older 8th gen titles such as Wolfenstein and GTA. That said if you absolutely must get a monitor sure 1440p is a good option, but you will be getting better support for 120 at 1080p so for competitve that would be better and then also get a 4k TV which can be had for as low as $220.
So I’m new to this. I have a ps5 and a HDMI 2.1 cord that came with the system . If I get a monitor 1440p with 165hz can I play 120 fps? Even if the monitor don’t have HDMI 2.1 input
What if I want a 4K 120hz monitor and have money to burn? Also wouldn’t buying this monitor even though I’m spending more save me from having to buy a new one when the next gen drops?
If a monitor is expensive today, it will likely become cheaper in the future, but new features will be added, making newer models more expensive. You can get the monitor If you want that 120hz it's up to you.

Nicely said. A 1440p monitor is the best budget option for PS5 tbh. I just wish Sony supported FreeSync, hopefully soon. I don't mind gaming at a desk so it's great!
@katsuquiet97 wrong, most console games don't hit 60 and hover in the 50 frame range. Vrr smothes this out. Thr lack of vrr in 1440 mode makes 1440 monitors a no go for ps5. Hopefully sony will fix this with future patches though.
@@katsuquiet97totally wrong. VRR works as low as 40fps on Xbox. It’s smooths out all games you are running at 60fps. It just won’t work on 30fps games. I believe Ps5 has a worse range at 48-60 fps.
The other day I said the same thing and commenters fired back -- the idea is not necessarily 4k/120fps, but rather dynamic 4k @ 120hz so that you can have unlocked fps and play at 40-80fps (like Horizon/spiderman/god of war games).
Bro i was a console game my whole life.r got a lgc1 . Been gaming on it for a while . Then eventually upgraded to pc. Now i play god of war at 4k 120fps on my rtx4080. Bro let people make purchases.
I think it comes down to how you are going to use the monitor and what you play. Obviously if you are using this monitor for other stuff like design, video, watching movies then the 4K element has more of a payoff, but all that stuff will never go over 60fps anyway. So it really comes down to what you play. There are VERY few games that support 4K above 60fps. That being said, there may be games you play where you don't care about having a high refresh rate, you just want to play it in 4K. So if you are the type of player that likes to bounce between a slow paced game at 4K/60fps and then play something like Call of Duty at 1440p/120fps then an HDMI 2.1 monitor makes a lot more sense.
@@TechAuditTV I was so surprised how good higher refresh rate was, I went from a 60hz to 165hz and expected to not even notice, don't think I'll move away from 1440p for a really long while as it's the perfect sweet spot unless you need a large display
Guys, players playing on both 1080p Benq Zowie XL2546K and 4K Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 were getting into iridescent (top 1% of gamers in ranked) in CoD MW3. If you want 4K, you are not lacking anything, the pro speed is there. Plus, if you record videos for RUclips, with a 4K monitor you have 4K output from your PS5, meaning you can capture 4K footage. Today, the 4K monitor Alienware AW3225QF is by a tiny bit faster than Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 (you can watch some FPS comparison with fast movement, set playback speed to 0.25, and you will barely notice this, and definitely not on every scene), and I'm still researching if there are even better ones for the purpose of my channel. I just did this. I can't believe how much better the games look on my 1440p 27" monitor. I mean, better clarity and refresh rate. I have been gaming on a 55" LG C1 oled. Great TV! But most PS5 games can't out put native 4k, and the upscaling is lacking with some games. PSSR has a ways to go before it gets better. So 1440p is easier for PSSR to upscal to. And the 1ms 180hz is great as well. Alan Wake 2 looks awesome and crisp. The ips color looks great as well.

As a pc, Xbox sx and PS5 owner. I can wholeheartedly say that the main reason I enjoyed RDR2 on the Xbox sx was due to the mzing texture packs and frame rate at 4k. Regardless of a game using 4k textures in their games, you will see a big difference between running a console game on 1080, 1440 and 4k. Therefore, 4k is still a pretty good option for consoles. That's my experience. Side note: the Xbox sx has better texture packs and runs on higher FPS than the PS5 on most games.

I disagree I had 1440p 32 Samsung monitor got it to not hog the TV and used a HDMI 2.1 to DP cable to get the 120hz. The colors looked washed even if I dropped the resolution to 1080p. I then traded my monitor with someone that had a gigabyte m32uC monitor. It has 24gps HDMI 2.1 the PS5 doesn't support 48gps HDMI 2.1 so this monitor was perfect for the ps5 and the Xbox series X/S no regrets. The colors look ridiculous. My tv has a high refresh rate of 120hz but no matter what settings I used I couldn't get the 120hz on any of the games that supported 120 only if I used an edid emulator plug and dropped the resolution to 1080p but gaming at 1080p on a 75inch tv with next gen consoles and only HDMI 2.0 well you tend to see it foggy. My tv was meant for sport viewing not gaming. The PS4 ps3 n Xbox One and steam deck look great on it but my ps4 pro n ps5 looked washed out. Get the gigabyte M32UC or flat. I've seen them used and refurbished on Amazon for as low as $300 and it's a $600 monitor. Don't fkn listen to all RUclipsr. Some just go by specs(not this guy of course but most do) there are some cons when it comes to console gaming on it NGL but man does it pack s punch on PC gaming. I love my purchase. I almost didn't get it cus I went looking at RUclipsr reviewing it. Went to Reddit and so many people told me to take the chance they didn't regret it and they were right
But how good the colors look isn't necissarily releated to the resolution. You can theoretically have a 4K resolution screen, but with bad colors, and vice versa 1080p screen with amazing colors. The 32 Samsung monitor could've had either wasn't tuned properly or actually had bad colors.
For any other OCDs out there. I just got an LG 4K 60hz and its awesome for the series X. The screen does not lag. If you do t notice lag on a normal 50/60hz tv, you sure as shit wont notice on a monitor.
Framerate is locked on most games so it's going to run at the same Framerate whether you are at 1440p or 4k so you may as well go 4k. Hopefully that will change but I doubt it.
So don’t buy a 4K hdmi 2.1 at full price we should spend half the price and get a 1440p and than buy the 4K hdmi2.1 when it’s cheaper? For about the same combined price as just buying a full price 4K hdmi 2.1 now??
I think this is bad advice. With a 4K monitor, you can lower your resolution settings to something less than 4K and still get the full benefit of the monitor's refresh rate.
I ordered the MSI Optix MAG281URF for my ps5… does ps5 support freesync or not because this monitor used g-sync and Adaptive sync (I’ve seen it in a video that it uses adaptive sync) is it a good choice flr the ps5?
@TechAuditTV you will be sad, since you’re not using the full potential out of your ps5 or XSX with a 1440p screen. I tried and experience stuttery / choppy frame rate issues when playing warzone on both consoles. You need a 4k monitor with hdmi 2.1 and VRR if you want a buttery smooth gameplay and amazing graphics. Sorry dude but your conclusion sucks. And why wait? Just buy a good 4k monitor of 500-600€ and you’re good to go, prices have dropped now meanwhile.
I will never play in anything but 4K or 8K. I have played on 60hz 4K monitors for years and I have dominated everyone. Framerate is just a cope for average gamers.
Not really I went from 60 5ms to 144 0.5ms my kd on siege went from 1.5 to 1.8(1.77) I don’t really play apex but went from platinum to diamond them extra frames I can’t ever go without now

I have 2 option rn , buy a monitor with 32" 4k 60hz ips or 27" 2k 180hz miniled. Visually maybe miniled will look better at night
But if you're ever watching a movie or playing a game at 1080p, it won't look as good on a 1440p monitor because it doesn't scale well. At least, that's what I heard.
All depends what you want. For me i play story and immersive games not online. So 60fps at 4k with hdr is perfect. Not everyone is a fps nutjob.
4k 60fps is beautiful at stand still. But I get a headache when moving camera around in game
It’s just not optimized well and depends on the cpu too much
Because Starfield was made on the creation engine, a gaming engine that was built in the late 2000s and was already obsolete when it was released
@@KINGOFDUBSOFFICIALA 1000 dollar PC with an RX 6800 will run the game at 4k high settings above 60fps.
Not the case with other games that are far better than starfield😂

@DTLA27 the C is hdmi 2.1
The C looks worse than the m32u, granted it is curved but that also means a VA panel instead of IPS which has better color range. IPS displays can also go to higher refresh rates which if you’re using Xbox won’t matter.
@@GubiYoroi2Agreed. What monitor did you end up going with?

You don't need hdmi 2.1 to use vrr on xbox, It works with a hdmi 2.0 for me

4k 120 was never going to happen on 9th gen games. It makes sense for older 8th gen titles such as Wolfenstein and GTA.
That said if you absolutely must get a monitor sure 1440p is a good option, but you will be getting better support for 120 at 1080p so for competitve that would be better and then also get a 4k TV which can be had for as low as $220.

So investing in a 4k 120hz hdmi 2.1 isnt worth it?
I was planning on getting the ultragear for my ps5.

Should I upgrade my 1440 8bit monitor for a 1440 10 bit monitor if I'm playing PS5?
Hell no! waste of money
I play in 4K60. Admittedly I've never tried 120Hz before so I don't know if that would feel better, but I have no qualms with 4K60 4ms response time
I have a 1440p 165hz monitor 144hz with hdmi2.0. Will a ps5 run at 120fps at 1440p on this?
Yes you need 2.1 for 4k 120
Should I get a monitor or a TV for a PS5 and is 4k better for a big TV since the pixels are more pronounced
If you are getting a TV I would defeintely say go 4K (especially considering that 1440p TV's aren't really a thing. But if you go the monitor route I always suggest 1440p over 4K purely because you'll get a better return on investment than you would with 4K (at least until more games support 4K @ 120fps)
@TechAuditTV thanks so much 🙏
Sorry if I am annoying but is 120hz Necessary for PS5 since most of the games I play are story-driven not multi-player I don't know if I will be able to see that big difference between the two since most games are 60fps
@@TechAuditTV thanks for the help though 🙏
@@TechAuditTV if it's not a problem plz answer my second question 🙂 sorry for being annoying
Love your videos BTW @@TechAuditTV
I regretted going for 1440p route. 4k looks way better and i dont play many 120fps games anymore.
How do you know that 4k looks that much better, since you only have a 1440p monitor?
@@mrpanther44I regreted it as well so last year I corrected it 😂 now I have all three resolutions but if you have a tv and try it that’s where the regrets come in lmfao
I agree with you. Returned my Samsung Odyssey G5 for a Dell G3223Q. Noticeable difference
Not sure if this video was valuable at all. Playing on the Xbox Series X and I just returned my Samsung Odyssey G5. Playing at 1440 120hz was a noticeable downgrade. I now have a Dell G3223Q and I'm much happier. I will stick with my decision against your recommendations
So being someone who plays mostly sports and shooters, you think 1440 120 is the best move for me? I don’t even think the games I play support 4k tbh
Yep that is the route I would go!
@@TechAuditTV thanks for the reply. Will definitely look into it. I’m currently on a 1080p so I’m sure it will be a solid upgrade from what I have . Is there a difference from 120 to 170 and 240 or not really and would you still fully recommend a 120. I’m on a PS5 btw
@@Thepiercestanley10 the ps5 only does 120fps, so more than that is useless unless you’re a pc gamer which does more than 120
@@TheGlowingOnee thanks for the info. Will definitely keep in mind
I agree with getting a 1440P monitor for the Xbox consoles because they support VRR on all resolutions but when it comes to the PS5 you ONLY get VRR on 4k or 1080P plus I know is not ideal to downscale to 1440p or 1080 on a 4k monitor but if that's what it takes for me to get VRR then I don't regret getting my 4k Monitor for the PS5
I think there was an update where VRR on 1440p is supported on ps5
@@haroldjaybornea545 I don't believe that's true I have search all over and no one has said the PS5 supports VRR on 1440p
@@tge1134 it does, there’s an option in the video settings only if your tv/monitor supports it
Vrr is available at 1440 on ps5 . U must have a hdmi 2.1 monitor though. Most don’t have this. They aren’t cheap. 600 plus. U are better off getting lg c2 42in . Truly best picture
Bro, Check the latest update. I own one and it supports vrr on PS5
Great video man , your point about your gamimg pc and the fact you still choose 1440p really helped nail down a decision, decided to go with a 2K monitor for Xmas. Thanks mate 😊

@@josheee6123damn a lot of people are buying that monitor and I’m thinking on it what’s the price tag?
As a pc, Xbox sx and PS5 owner. I can wholeheartedly say that the main reason I enjoyed RDR2 on the Xbox sx was due to the mzing texture packs and frame rate at 4k.
Regardless of a game using 4k textures in their games, you will see a big difference between running a console game on 1080, 1440 and 4k. Therefore, 4k is still a pretty good option for consoles. That's my experience. Side note: the Xbox sx has better texture packs and runs on higher FPS than the PS5 on most games.
Ohmg i just buy monitor and its only supports HDMI not the HDMI 2.1😭
What if you want to do the other way around like 4k 60 instead of 1440p 120, which is better??
What are you doing if you’re playing last of us or god of war 4k @60 if you’re grinding out champ on r6 siege or pred on apex higher frames with 1ms or lower are king just ask yourself if you’re a casual player or a hardcore competitive player trying to be best in the world
I disagree I had 1440p 32 Samsung monitor got it to not hog the TV and used a HDMI 2.1 to DP cable to get the 120hz.
Yeah now it’s 2025. PS5 pro, definitely going for 4k
I’m looking for a monitor for my Xbox series X and ps5, whould anyone recommend the Acer Predator XB283K or something els.
Framerate is locked on most games so it's going to run at the same Framerate whether you are at 1440p or 4k so you may as well go 4k. Hopefully that will change but I doubt it.
Do you know how bad the fps will be on a 4k monitor?
So don’t buy a 4K hdmi 2.1 at full price we should spend half the price and get a 1440p and than buy the 4K hdmi2.1 when it’s cheaper? For about the same combined price as just buying a full price 4K hdmi 2.1 now??
One thing....... Actually u can buy a XSS for 1440p and XSX or PS5 for 4k, no?
They don’t run games at those resolutions for the most part
I think this is bad advice. With a 4K monitor, you can lower your resolution settings to something less than 4K and still get the full benefit of the monitor's refresh rate.
Honestly tell me what is lowest ps5 monitors vrr you can buy even tho it’s expensive
Good information 👍
I ordered the MSI Optix MAG281URF for my ps5… does ps5 support freesync or not because this monitor used g-sync and Adaptive sync (I’ve seen it in a video that it uses adaptive sync) is it a good choice flr the ps5?
How does It work on your ps5? Please answer
@@AlexSarmale it works perfectly trust me I’m really happy with it
What if you get an hdmi to display port adapter? 🤔
It can work, but you need the right model of adaptor
