And there is now this video right here, uploaded 2 weeks ago. Perfect timing as if the universe was telling me go do it! Thanks for the amazing insight in your workflow!
sometimes people are a little harsh on animators because an individual frame doesn't look as impressive as a detailed still image, but honestly the work into getting so consistent with drawing the same characters over and over, and the final product are worth it for their beauty. and not to mention, the added strength of the video medium with motion, and sound, it's often underappreciated work, but it's always worth the effort.
People gushing about this in comment, especially ones bemoaning their own art... i think alot of them are missing the point. There is no trick here, there is a technique that he's applied to good fundamentals in animation and art and anatomy, and hard friggin work. If the foundation wasn't strong, then it wouldn't hold all the supplemental 3d rendering he's showing to you. Put in the work, build your basics up, learn your art and craft, whatever it is. I mean, just look at the inspiration shots @15:00, he's not copying the art work, he's copying the general technique. And you couldn't do that if your basics aren't sound; you wouldn't understand the methodology/aesthetic you want to draw from.
