"I literally can't see shit.
...Ohh. Ok, good."
Anime needs to be this poetic.
I lost it at this scene :D
Brilliant, like I never even thought about how the hell you'd see around that thing 😂
It's a good point, I never thought about the Force obstructing the pilot's vision despite the fact it's a massive ball attached to the ship's nose.
that part had me laughing my ass off
that was funny xd
How the character dialogue is 80s and early 90s quality dub material. It shows good attention to retro detail.
Agreed best of both worlds.
5 years for me. 3 years for you. Talk about a time warp. I'm hear learning about Color Grading and light design. And I love Anime. This Is a work of Art.
Imagine this an actual series where these two explore a different arcade world in each episode
Shut up and take my money!
This ViD SUPER Underrated !
Sounds like a sequel to Captain N The Gamemaster
Well, there's Captain N. And Tron.

R-TYPE愛を凄く感じるし、レトロなアニメのテイストをきちんと再現していて素晴らしすぎる。何かを見て久しぶりにぞくぞくしたよ。
this guy's art style has an 80's animation art style I love 80's japanese animation.
Yes I'm not familiar of modern anime but yes bring back the old school anime back and
Should do the remake of classic anime, but make it look like this with R-Type Anime
as do I good sir
This is his way of bringing back 80s stuff and does an outstanding job at it.
Which also known as: anime.
It has more of a combination of late 80's early 90's aesthetics. It's also astoundingly gorgeous and even better looking than modern CGI anime.
80’s, 90’s Anime Never Gets Old...
NEVER !!!
Yeah! Fuck Naruto
This is much better!😊
"HP Lovecraft is that you?"
I would say more like HR Giger
Personally, the 2nd boss is even worse than both combined.
Yeah but while HP Lovecraft was just "haha sea monster"
HR Giger was even further like combining anatomy, phalic imagery, and inner workings of a machine (which contribute to dark colors)
"HP Lovecraft, is that you?"
''No, it's Alien!''
ちゃんと原作と同じステージ構成、配置。めちゃくちゃ動くしカッコいいし愛があるなぁ
The amount of detail poured into every frame of animation is as astonishing as ever, Otaking.
I rewinded many times the video, there are magnificent moments
They should do dairius twin and a street brawler like final fight or streets of rage.
*obtains Force*
"I literally cannot see shit!"
*Force wipes away*
"Oh. Alright."
Low key I feel like that would be any normal person's response. lol
A trainee's response but once they become full time pilots it becomes normal instead it will become: HURRY THE FUCK UP, I'M ABOUT TO DIE HERE!!!
Why is that low key?
I love coming back to this animation time after time. I'm here because R-Type Final 2 gets released tomorrow and I wanted to get hype!
かっこよすぎるアニメーション!!
ステージ再現と敵の動きがすごすぎる!!
Great quality!
Thank you for loving R-TYPE.
from Japan
thanks to you Japan.
R-TYPE is one of our favorite shoot-'em-ups here in America.
At least the ones who mostly plays the series.
作画やばすぎでしょ、メカのデザインも完璧だしステージ再現も凄いよ、あとキャラのセリフ回しが好き。

This is pretty much an R-Type fan's wet dream.
Will mistretta my cousin had R type for super Nintendo and I was so envious. This vid is sick.
There was an older game Parsec for the Ti-99/4A, and I did spend many hours day dreaming about flying in that game back in elementary school. Then a few years later, in junior high, there was an arcade Video Space Games that was listed in the phone book as Irem Corp., coincidentally (?), and they had R-Type and later R-Type II as well.
Every night xD
*Totally*
Forget R-craft models; Flying one... That's the shit
yes...yes it is....
"Maybe it works with other games out here?"
After Burner?
The Living Tombstone I'm hoping for Heavy Barrel or Tecmo Knights.
Fair enough.
My first thought was Golden Axe. Probably due to its 4th wall breaking in the end credits. 😁
OutRun.
Joust?
Now this is what i came for
Felt like 80s anime. Wish anime still looked like this.
Anime like this needs to make a comeback.
As a fan of the R-Type series, I am completely and totally blown away by this. Everything was amazing. Seeing that classic first level from a new and dynamic 3D view is just an incredible experience to watch. Thank you so much for this.
Bandrik
I wish to say words like these. Thanks.
And Thank You so much Otaking!!!
Got to agree. I can see alot of work went into it and created by a true fan. If u like the 3d look of it, you can also check out my 3d animation based on R-Type. I did it for my college graded unit but also for the fans. ruclips.net/video/kFjv9feaAjs/видео.html
I basically used to pretend R-Type was a Macross game when I was a kid, this short is like a dream come true.
I remember playing a macross game on the super Nintendo back in the 90s. Can't remember it's exact name but it was very similar to rtype and was really fun.
For me it was that crazy one, Robotech: Battlecry (PS2)
I think the nintendo one was called Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie
Grew up playing rtype as a kid but wow this blew my mind, and this would make a great anime, as well with lots of other video game titles. Got to love the oldschool arcades.
The machines with living bydo bits on the inside is such a great touch
3:05
no, this is Hans Giger. Mr. Lovecraft is in Chaos Realm room, having fun in Slaanesh's spa.
i actually draw some similar bugs the other day, they are visions, bet you those bugs exists in outer space worlds, so fucking cool.
I was just about to say .. you must wait for an octopi to name drop L.C.
Yog Sototh and Cthulhu wouldn't abandon their earth prophet, or maybe they would, or maybe they're the same person, my Cthulhu mythos is rusty.
Something about this statement is heresy.
Try Bydo craft B-series, they are definitely inspired by Lovecraft.
1:33とかRtypeの設定を生かした映像なのが嬉しい
Fan-made stuff like this is way better than the main stream anime shit that's out nowadays. I miss the 1980s & 1990s, they had the best music, movies, tv shows, videogames and anime!
What have you watched recently?
Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.
@@bernardoheusi6146wonder how much nostalgia there's gonna be for all the shitty remakes and postmodern 'subversive' sequels of the 2010s and 2020s vs the originals of the 80s and 90s?
こりゃR-TYPEに対する愛が詰まってるわ
アニメも良いし、台詞回しも良い
BGMも一面のアレンジが効いててかなり良い
満足行くし、続きも見たいと思うよ
The very moment when the author creates an animation that is not inferior in quality to large studios with a huge budget and hordes of artists. You're God, man!
The quality is inferior, and that's not an insult, one man can only do so much.
世界共通のR-Type愛を感じた💖👍🏻
すげぇ…愛を感じる作り込みで感動した!
80年代の名作のAKIRAや火の鳥を観たときの様な衝撃だ
This deserves more praise then what is humanly possible.
I was going to make a comment of how awesome this is, but yours will suffice.
The creators of R-type definitely took some ideas from the Aliens franchise with the shape of that bosses head and possibley John Carpenters The Thing with how that alien bursts through the bosses chest just like at the end of The Thing when the dog bursts through the Blair thing.
I noticed that too
It also took Inspiration with Star Wars as the first mission is through a tunnel and your way of attacking is called Force. The first and final boss is mainly defeated by launching the Force.
"No one dies on the first boss, and I'll be buggered if the trend starts with me." *complains proudly and leaves, thus allowing himself to be defeated by the first boss*
two of my childhood loves in one short. Your style is fantastic and takes me back to what I loved about Japanese animation in the first place (the old days of "Japanimation") and the R-Type setting man... I feel 5 again trying to "not die on the first level"... thank you for this, you're amazing!
totally amazing and that amt of time put into this. every animation you finally finish is like a final climax from a long fap. lol
Perhaps the best compliment I've ever received about a film I made!
i just wonder how is your comment 1 week old
I'm one of his patron supporters that got early access preview 1week as an unlisted video.
well that explains a lot, thanks anyway
Honestly wasn't expecting to see NCH here.
I like how you mixed in the late-80’s-style visceral organic violence that was prevalent in Anime during that time. Nice work.
By the gods I wish this had a sequel!!!
Absolutely jawdropping. Recently rewatched the Ninja Gaiden and Salamander OVA movies, so happening upon this today fits. Love that mid 80s-early 90s vibe like Bubblegum Crash, Detonator Orgun, Cyber City, AD Police Files, Tokyo Vice, etc. Your work blows away anything from the Star Wars Visions trailers, major companies like Netflix or whoever should be hiring you for an anthology.
再現度高い!!!!!感動しました😂
Thank you to everyone who made this it was incredible and funny and so awesome! I want a whole series of this amazing anime
え、、これ個人制作…?クオリティエグくね……
I think a reference to HR Geiger rather than Lovecraft would have been more appropriate - but still an awesome video!
He should do a Contra anime movie
You are a blessing to this world OtaKing, THANK YOU for honoring the spirit of imagination 💛
"On the other side of the screen, it all looks so easy." - Flynn / TRON
I miss the 80's-90's cartoon style. The three-dimensional rendering of Stage 1 is just as I imagined, and the direction of the allies coming to cover is also typical of R-TYPE.
コックピットからの視点が素晴らしい!w
正にR-Type愛の塊!
1:24 The way he says it is so funny.
Dude, I love your work man. I freakin love it. Stuff like this is what gives eyegasums. Loved the R-Type franchise too and you just know how to capture the essence of everything it's amazing.
This is better than any animation currently on TV, stream, whatever!!!! This is great like the good old times of Macross. Thank you for sharing your creativity. It was a blast (no pun intended)
I was just going to say, "Awesome animation! Great story! Great job!" It's the fantasy of every red-blooded gamer to go into that environment and kick alien tail for real.
Then I saw the ending credits. A lot of people contributed to making this possible, and I'm seeing the final product. Kudos to everyone involved.
No, that's not good enough. THANK YOU to everyone involved, for the fun piece of animation I got to see.
I'll have to look at your patreon, and see what else you're working on.
"HP Lovecraft, is that you!?"
"Back to non-euclidian space with you!"
Nah, that was clearly H.R. Giger, being a phallus creature and all.
some of this dialog is amazing!
It's really interesting because even though this imitates the style of 80's japanese animation nearly perfect, you can tell it was not animated by a japanese guy by the motion it makes.
The motion is so wishy washy over the place is because he doesn't understand how people move, he doesn't use reference. It's inexperience unrelated to him rotoscoping the 3d models. Tho what is a factor is him putting way more polish on his animation. It feels like he's animating everything on 1's instead of using as many stills as possible - which is done to speed up the work and make it cheaper to produce.
Edit: truth be told this reminds me of redline.
Yup..
Something about 80's Japanese Anime that will never be duplicated again..
I love this!!!! R-Type was one of my favorite arcade games in the 80's.
Cracking stuff, Otaking. Especially love the classic micro-missile can reference.
As an old timer anime fan, this was awesome! I cracked up at the Lovecraft reference. Keep up the good work sir!
The most incredible thing is not that this happened to them, but that they wanted to stay and try some more.
One of the best animations ever.
Golden Eagle ...and batmetal
Agreed!
They should do a double dragon tribute or even Galaga
How have I only just discovered this!! Amazing work. Stunning.
This is amazing, R-Type is one of my fav shooters of all time. Awesome work man.
its just a question but how much money would it take monthly for you to animate an alerady writen 10 episode space war series
I believe the answer would be "A metric Fuckton."
He aint gonna work for "exposure" that's for sure LOL
"The show advertises itself for you! It's a win-win!"
@@ranlomoday Still not enough. Episodes would need to be like 3-4 minutes long at max, if that were to case. Just think about it: Lets say 30 frames per second would be 7200 pictures and 60 frames per second would be 14400 pictures to be drawn. All this done by one person and trow in editing, voice acting and so on.
I've costed animation out before, so I'm going to make an assumption that your 10 episodes are around 20 minutes of animation. These are rough estimates based on working in animation for a while, mainly in China, but I worked at Disney before too. Anyway you only have a script, so you'll have to design the characters, style guide sets, and also a pilot to calculate your workflow. You are looking at a budget of minimum 100k USD, but big companies spend a lot more like that, I worked on a CM pilot that was almost 500k and it was a year's worth of work before they cancelled it. Then you are looking for a TVpaint studio to out source to. They quote you a price in minutes, but that price varies on the amount of minutes you offer. For 200 or so minutes a studio in China or India will charge you between 5-10k a minute per footage, depending on story and animation complexity. A pilot helps with this. This animation was done in TVpaint. Of you want to save money find a studio that works in flash, but you won't get this look. There are still other costs, such as fix ups, voice and marketing, travel etc. You have to understand the animator here is working out of his own will and doesn't have anyone to answer to, so the environment is very different. Also I think he spent a lot of time on this short. What you are asking for is several years of commitment. This isn't cheap. Hope it helps.
beautiful anime!!(^^)d
good game R-TYPE♪

So, an insufferable prick, then.
Sounds more like the whining of a poor gamer.
@BRIDGES Anomalies Death Squad yeah Sseth's pretty great
R-Type and Super R-Type had the best boss music in gaming... PERIOD!
This is beyond amazing my guy, it's out of this world stuff for one guy...
Astonishing, absurd amount of work put into this! Admirable!
You can still find r-type in arcades in Japan, I loved it's aesthetics as a kid, got so obsessed.
R-Type is one of my favourite old school shmups and I totally agree with this anime reimagining it was tough as nails and getting past that first boss battle was a nightmare.
It's sad that for my case is died in stage, rather than the boss itself lmao ( boss was quite easy tbh )
THIS IS JUST AWESOME IN EVERY WAY! I'M A HUGE R-TYPE FAN AND THIS IS JUST ABSURD! THANKYOU!!
すばらしい作品です
オリジナルへのリスペクトと愛を感じました
ありがとう!
Personally haven't played this game, but your animation and story was amazing. Much respect.
Who's here watching this again before R-Type Final 2?? I feel like they got inspired again after watching this anime version of Game Master. Probably. 😊🎮
This and the also fan made Akira tribute are the best ones I've ever seen. Congratulations it looks amazing!
This is by far the best video game movie ever made
Yo make me feel tiny, your animation are gorgeous, you are almost a one men army.
Hell Candyman Almost?
He is a one man army*
With 5 people a lot can be done and animations will come out at a much steadier pace.
If R type was a 1st person space shooter, i would play it.
Its woud be nuts . I'll even wait in line to buy it for ps4
@@srmonkeyflingonpoo2457 Fun fact, there was actually an R-Type "experience" on Playstation Home while that was still a thing.

The incredible quality left my mouth hanging open.
I cried.😢
This is a treat! Thanks!
I've been playing R-Type for 30 years. I started on TurboGrafx-16 and am currently playing it on Android (loads) and Nintendo Switch (only occasionally, I borrow it from my kid). I still haven't passed the 4th level.
The voice acting could use a little work but overall I love the video. The animation being that 80s anime look mixed with the setting of the arcade and game world works really well. It makes me wonder if we’ll see this grow into a series or if it’s just a one off thing? ^^
As an old fart who actually used to play these sorts of games back in the day I must say I loved this.
The animation is great of course but I also liked how the old music has been modernized.
Hummm.... maybe I should dig up my old Commodore 64, it's around here someplace.
This is how Anime should be. these were fantastic times. this was amazing and well it was just badass!!!!!!
play it at 1.25x speed and the voice acting feels better now
Oh my god, you're actually right.
これはすごい!!シューターにはたまらないなぁ
I spent a ridiculous amount of time and quarters playing this game as a kid! This is totally awesome!
Pure awesomeness! Amazing job, bro!!
Nobody dies on the first boss.
Me: (Slowly sneaks out the back door)
I spotted these clear influences:
Otomo (Akira facial animations & laser) 0:20-0:35 & 2:00-2:05
Tron/Wreck-It Ralph - 0:46-0:50
Bruce Timm ("Do The Evolution" Pearl Jam MV) - 1:31-1:34
Ghibli (Nausicaa) - 2:05-2:08
Itano Circus - 1:40-1:46 & 2:40-2:44
Did I miss any?
Masterpiece!! This one and Tie Fighter Wars are outstanding works of art!! Well done sensei!! Bravo maestro!!
Really fantastic, I particularly love the way you interpreted some of the weirder enemies. A lot of this was kinda left to the player's imagination, it was cool to see your take on it.
2:41 "Also, do not question why this coffee can is here pls, thanks."
This is too good to be real, i must be watching youtube
How do you not have a million subs already?
You're an amazing artist.
R type was one of my favorite games to play at the arcade.
The animation is incredible! Good job dude

WOAH!! THIS IS TRULY EPIC! Will this be a series???
Always loved the R-TYPE, one of the shmups with rich lore abt the bydo.
R Type final is crazy with how the plot rewinds itself and goes all over the place linking the other games altogether lol
yeah. there's even one where u end up in an alternate universe, as well as one with you becoming the villain itself.
I just discover this little animation wonder now. This is an amazing job, I'm glad to discover more of your work than the amazing Star Wars short film that I knew since a while!
