Wonderful painting,I was surprised you deliberately made cauliflowers and then watched how you removed them to be so effective. I’ve learnt heaps today. Thank you Joe.
You worked hard here Joe. Well done for a terrific painting. Staying with you all the way. Thanks for doing this work. Matt in San Diego by way of Ireland.
Hello, new subscriber here. I saw your video on wetting the back of the paper. I live in a very dry climate so that may help my painting. I often use watercolor blocks, so I can just remove the paper and wet the back with your method. Will give it a try. Thanks.
Thank you for this demonstration, Joe. I learn so much from watching you paint. You’re a wonderful artist and a great teacher. One question, what is the board you use to support the paper and wet to keep the back of the paper moist? I love that technique. Can I find it at a hardware store?
The board I used was called Gator Foam board, but now I use a piece of black matt finished acrylic which you should be able to buy from a hardware store or on ebay.
A wonderful demo Joe packed with tips and techniques. Calm, clearly explained and informative. I must have a go of wetting the back of the paper first. I have not seen a palette like this before, what company makes it? Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! I designed the palette myself, as I wanted one that was large enough to use in both the studio and for painting outdoors. It is printed on a 3D printer. I do sell them. The price is $60 Australian dollars plus postage. They take a bit of time to produce.
Such a lovely painting Joe. Both the sky and the reflections are really exquisite. I am a little old/young at heart lady who has only recently begun my watercolor journey. I have only found your channel very recently and have learned so much. Your teaching style is so patient and well done. I so appreciate being able to see your pallet as you mix your pigments and both your small towel and the paper towel that you are holding in your left hand. Although I am a leftie, I am easily able to reverse everything and follow along with you because you take your time and explain how you use the tools around you. I have not seen any other Utube artist take the time to cover all of the details that you do. Finally, I am understanding water control far better than ever before! If I could only make one request, it would be..... please, please, please, on a long video, such as this one.....stop playing that horrid repetitive music. Grrrrr....I don't think I can get it out of my head for the next hour or so. I would have muted it, but then I wouldn't have been able to hear you. Otherwise..... Thanks ever so much for sharing your blessed talent with all of us!! 👩🦳🖌️🙏
Thank you for your enquiry about my palette. It is designed to hold plenty of paint, with good sized mixing areas, and big enough that I can use it for both outdoor and studio painting. I produce it myself on my 3D printer. Its price is $60 Australian, plus postage. If you interested in purchasing it you can contact me through my website at: www.paintingwithwatercolors.com/contact-joe-cartwright/
Thanks for purchasing my book and the feedback. Background music is always a bit of a challenge, some people really like it, but I understand it is not everyones cup of tea. Is it just the repetition, its volume, or all music that is a problem. Any feedback would be appreciated. :-)
@@iancameron6124 My pleasure. I intend to do a whole video on the subject in the not too distant future as different angles can be needed for particular effects and for paint in the studio or outside.
Another beautiful painting, knocked out of the park
Thank you so much Frank😀

You’re so good. Thanks so much for this detailed tutorial. I am going to try-but… making a cauliflower in the sky? Scared
You can do it! But you can leave out the cauliflower part. 😊

So glad you are enjoying my videos. And thanks for the feedback. Yes, if I use music in the future I will have to mix it up a bit! 😊
Beautiful thanks

Joe where did you get your palettes? I like the mixing area.
I designed and made it myself with my 3 D printer.
Amazing demo, I am going to try the wet paper technique again. What brand brush are you using?
Glad you liked it. The brand and model of my brush is NEEF 4750LP. NEEF is an Australian company, just Google them.
Thank you, I will! @@JoeCartwright
Great video I thank you. Inspired me to buy your books but please get rid or change the backing music at least for the long videos!

@@JoeCartwright I think it is the repetition, especially on the longer videos.
@@MrDs131 Many thanks for letting me know. I will certainly take it into consideration for my next video. 🙂
Can u tell me what angle we should have our work set at
So paint can run? Please
I usually set it at 20 degrees in my studio.
@@JoeCartwright thank you very much for replying, 1st artist on YT to answer.

Great sky. No need for the distracting music though, thanks.
Noted!
Would be nice to have a slower paced music to paint too with you...this makes me feel like rushing the painting.
Sadly the video cannot be changed once uploaded to RUclips. 😊
