I use many of those keyboard shortcuts through my Magic Mouse simply by creating gestures with BetterTouchTool, like a 2 finger swipe up to open Finder, 2 finger swipe down to Cmd+W, 3 finger swipe down to Cmd+Q, and so on. We can even create gestures for specific apps, as a 2 finger click to duplicate a layer in Photoshop or whatever you want. For me, it’s the #1 trick that makes macOS so much better and faster.

Here are a few tips I love on macOS:
    1. Drag a file or folder from finder into any Save or Open file dialog box and you'll be taken to that location. If you drag a file, an Open dialog will select that file for opening and a Save dialog will enter that filename.
    2. Drag things from Spotlight. Hit Cmd-Spacebar to open Spotlight and conduct a search. You can drag out images, files, folders, and more. Plus, combine this with my tip #1 and you can drag files or folders from Spotlight into Save and Open dialogs!
    3. Hold Shift when pressing volume up or down to either mute or make the volume sound. It does the opposite of your system default.

Dragging a file/folder from Finder into the "save as/export" dialog box updates the folder location where the file is being saved to to match what was dragged in. A file dragged in will also change the saving file name to match and overwrite that file dragged in from Finder.
Right clicking a file name that is centred in the top title bar of almost any app will bring up a file tree showing where the file is stored, clicking into the tree will open finder to that location.
Left clicking a file name in the title bar will allow for a quick renaming.
Holding ⌘ after a spotlight search will take you to the item's folder and location, not open the item.
Some useful keyboard and typographic stuff:
Shift+ Return will type a "Soft Return" meaning a line break without a full paragraph return - also useful to add line breaks when return normally sends a message inside a chat or message box.
⌥+ a letter key (twice) will type accent characters é for example
    • Centre bullet is ⌥ 8
    - Em Dash is ⌥ ⇧ -
    - En Dash is ⌥ -

Some of these shortcuts only work on an US keyboard with US language settings. (e.g. number 6). To find the corresponding key combination for your set up open a finder window and check in the menu bar under the “Window” section the key combination for “Cycle Through Windows”. The same combination will also work in all other apps later (as long as they are not full screen).

Split-screen! Something I've recently found. It works like on an iPad but on most recent versions of MacOS (High Sierra onwards). Go to the 'full screen' icon top left of any window. Hold down the mouse! Depending on OS version you'll get a menu or not. The current window will be on the right and you select another open window/app to be on the right. Move to the top to show the green button again and click it to exit split-screen! You can then resize the left-right column by dragging the central divide.

If you go to the system settings for Keyboard, then 'App Shortcuts' you can create a shortcut for the menubar action for every app! You have to enter the EXACT name of the menu bar item. I.e. to create a shortcut to add a bookmark folder in Safari you enter "Add Bookmark Folder" with a shortcut you like and then that shortcut works in Safari!

if you are a user of the iogear 4 port kvm you may have set the trigger key from option to control because in some games like tombraider the option key is the action key to fire the guns and hold onto ledges and ladders and to pick up items and it is annoying and potentially game stopping if you have to rapid push and release the action key to quickly zip down a long ladder and have the kvm activates.
normally you change computers using option option and enter but if you play games where the option key is the action key you may want to change the key for the kvm. it is the kvm designed to compliment the mac mini back in the early 2000s.
if you had to change the kvm trigger key you may want to manually enable the mouse keys rather than using the option key or i think you can change the key to something like shift unless it too conflicts with game controls.

i bet you know this and i’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned, adding shift to a lot of shortcuts “reverses” it. command + tab cycles through apps, so command + tab + shift cycles the other way. also related to shift, holding shift when clicking some things literally makes the animation go in slow mo. someone told me they used that feature when showing beginners how to use a mac.
funny part is i’ve helped people when they said “my mac is really slow” and then would show me windows minimizing in slow mo...every time it turned out keyboards had liquid damage, and shift was being triggered at all times -_-
