Outstanding! I've 'died' many deaths in bottom of side control but I'm learning to get out some of the time. I'm also learning to tighten up my top control a little. This video is terrific! Now, I've got a few more things to do from the top that feel kinda evil. I think I prefer top of side control over top of mount.

Hopelessness…that’s exactly what i feel when my opponent is putting pressure on me in a tight side control…glad that’s not unusual and to be expected. Thanks for the free content. I’m a new white belt. A blue belt got me with a bread cutter a few weeks ago. Glad to see what that was on a video.

I have two of your instructional videos and thanks to that, I was able to develop a game and now side control is my favorite position. I add a lot of other stuff 😅 to that position and oh boy! 😂 I have nothing but respect and admiration for you 👍🏻🥋💪

I enjoyed this. I crosstrain bjj and usually just hang out in their side control because they have very little success in it( black belts included). I usually use a shoulder crunch...or hold them from bottom in side control...and they end up fighting to get away 😆......no hip escape, no shrimping...I just hang out.....its definitely not bjj 101....but a decade later.....I have never been submitted from side control. I enjoyed watching this tho.

Thank you for showing these small details and breaking them down. I have a hard time with tall guys cause I'm pretty short for my division and have a hard time passing guard can you do a video for that? again great video

Loved the option for after you have their arm trapped over your thigh, but some tips on how to actually trap it in the first place would be nice

Great strategies! I like to be between the head and shoulder, to my partner's 10 o'clock is my ideal. Seat belt but with my chest. I try and keep the head pointed to the left and I pin the right arm/ right shoulder. Sometimes with my knee. I try and stay up on my toes and push in and down. I'm 5'6" , 50yrs old and 160lbs and I can keep much bigger, and younger partners down, much to their frustration. If I can pull the far lapel under their left shoulder grabbing it behind the head, they're F'd!
