I absolutely don’t share Desi’s sentiment. Lucille Ball was great but Vivian Vance and William Frawley were equally as good. Those supporting actors made the show and quite frankly the show wouldn’t have been nearly as good without them. She was not 90% of the show and to say that is not only an insult to them but to the writers. If I’m going to be super critical here, I feel Lucy lost her touch in the last season and wasn’t nearly as funny, often relying on the same acting techniques such as putting her hand to her mouth when she was nervous and her laugh. I’m only speaking of my opinion, but the subsequent show such as The Lucille Ball Show and Here’s Lucy were flops and to this day think the viewers that stayed loyal just adored the characters so much. My comments are coming from a person where “I Love Lucy” is my all-time favorite show. But it wasn’t all about Lucy and embarrassing when people give her all the credit.
