Hi Mark. My name is Steve Good. I write the Scrollsaw Workshop blog. The patterns you used in this video are some of my designs. You are doing great for a first effort. The spiral blade is the most challenging blade to learn and you did pretty well with it. The tension knob moving is a known problem with the Central machinery saw. There is too much vibration from the saw and it tends to loosen the knob. The best solution is to try to reduce the vibration. I see you have the saw clamped to your table. That is a good start but screwing it down will often work better. You can also add an anti-vibration pad between the table and the saw. That will often reduce the vibration quite a bit. Any rubber sheet will work. If you can find one that is over 1/8" thick is best. Most of the problems you experience are just normal start-up issues. You will get past that stage in just a few projects. It's okay to start with simple patterns but make sure you push yourself with more difficult patterns as you feel more comfortable. Enjoy your new saw.

just keep practicing you will get better each time
you should speed up the arm, things would cut alot better.
That's as fast as that arm will go.
A scroll saw is just too much work. How much better is it than a band saw, really?
