You know you're a homesteader when you go to town and all you come home with is 50 chicks on clearance! Jackpot 60% off Cornish cross and production reds
I believed I’ve watched this video a handful of times over and over. I canned veggie soup because of the help of this video. Make more canning videos please. I love them!
I've been making this soup for years and learned it from my mom. Bless my kids hearts, they're in their 30s and call it Moms Soup🥰keep making it ladies!🥄
When you have extra space in the pressure canner, put some same size jars of water and can those at the same time. You will have sealed sterilized water to store. Soup looks yummy.
I just love you. I have the same pressure canner and I’ve been so scared of it. lol. You’ve given me the confidence to try some things. Thank you. And you’re just cute and encouraging.
I could watch you all day!! I do a lot of canning my self! I so look forward to your videos.. I want to be just like you when i grow up...lol,lol,(i'm 62) lol lol, I really love to hear you talk...you are very straight forward..and i love that about you..you are so stinkin cute!! KEep it up GIRL FRIEND..You got this!!!
Have you ever frozen your tomatoes when they start all coming in at once? I have done this and it works out great. I just core them before freezing and then stick them in a ziplock and freeze. Come winter time when there's no garden to worry about and it's easier to do some things, I take out the maters and get to using them. They thaw great and the peels come right off easily if you don't want to use the peels.
This is why I love your channel .. You show how easy it is to make a good Homemade soup using frozen veggies. Most bigger channels shows how you have to use only fresh garden veggies .. Nope .. Use what you can get your hands on & make it your own. Big hugs Patara hope you have a fun safe weekend.
Thank you! I did 4 quarts of vegetable soup.... 2 sealed 2 didn't and I so appreciated your final statement that I can just refrigerate and use sooner than later. THANK GOD for all our abundance.
Thank you so much!! I’m very grateful for your canning videos. I’m a new canner and so I’m flying by the seat of my pants on most days 😂 I’m putting up 10lbs of ground beef, pickled cabbage and pickled jalapeños and carrots this week. I’m a little scared of the pressure cooker (that I will not do it right) when I put up the meat… but I can do it! 👍 Thanks again 💕❤️🙏
That looks so darn scrumptious, I almost can’t stand it!!!!! Canning is something I wish I would have learned more about 40-50 years ago, but to watch you make an amazing soup, and plan ahead is wonderful❤️. I absolutely love you videos, and your love and respect for you animal family is heartwarming to watch...have a blessed day 🙏🏻🌹🙏🏻
I just ran up on ur old video and ur soup looks yummy 😋. Monday, it took up until midnight, I canned 31 jars in total. Yes mam I luv to can. This video was on my feed.
I always make myself a step by step list to be sure I don't forget something. Five minutes on a list or starting again...no brainer there for me! Happy safe canning and preserving y'all!
Yes ! ... I've been looking for a vegetable soup canning recipe that mirrors the way I make mine. I use cento canned crushed tomatoes as the base. But I add a couple other spices to the mix. 😊 Thank you so much for a canning version. I wasn't sure I could actually can my vegetable soup or not. ❤
I am definitely keeping this in mind to do with my harvest. I've got some of my tomatoes in my crockpot right now to make more tomato sauce and I may make some of it into pizza sauce for the pantry. One thing I canned last year from my onions and carrots and store bought celery was can mirepoix - carrots, onions and celery which is the basis for many soups. This has been something I have really used.
A huge regret of mine is not learning the canning process from my mom and my elders 30 years ago. I do however dehydrate and pressure seal a lot of of things❤️🥰👍🏻
It is never too late to learn Mona. My Mom didn't can anything ever but it is something I had always wanted to learn so about 45 years ago I taught myself how to water bath. From there I learned how to pressure can, I had to use books back then. Now you have you tube and videos like Patera makes. You can do it!
I enjoyed this video! Home canning is something that I learned from my mom when I was young. My daughters are now learning from me. It is truly a comfort to have food that I canned on my shelves. I am also thankful that I have my supplies to keep on canning. My wish and prayer s that more people learn form safe canners like you to keep food on their tables!
We canned 12 quarts of minestrone soup last week. Then used another 20 pounds of tomatoes, onions and herbs from the garden to make roasted tomato spaghetti sauce this weekend.
I loved this video! I'm learning to can now. I love it! Make me feel like I've accomplished something for my family. Ty for all your canning videos. I'd love to see your chilli one.
I used top do alot of canning, butt never did the soup. I canned vegetables in quart jars, and sometimes meat. When I made soup, my girls called it quart jar stew. The fresh ingredients were always the celery, potatoes, onions, and garlic. I also put cabbage in. Now, I don't can things, but when I make vegetable soup I use the frozen mixed vegetables. Being alone, it's much easier. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge. God bless you and your family 🙏
Waiting on second cooker of veggie soup with chicken tonight. You gave me inspiration to go to store and chicken, corn on sale. I had gallon of tomatoes, onions, and celery. Thank you. Mine looks great too.
We make something similar and call it "end of season soup". One green tomato for every two red, everything else from the garden and fried bacon for flavor too. You're right, it's wonderful to have in the winter.
I don’t love vegetable soup…but I have an abundance of these veggies right now, so I’m giving future me a helping hand and canning some of this up for later.
Now I want to try soup! Just waiting on more tomatoes. I have really been enjoying canning this last couple of years. Thanks for showing us all another item to get on our shelves!
This is a great soup pretty much the way I always made it but never canned it. I lack confidence in that but this would be a good candidate for my new American canner initiation. Only thing I going to change is in my new effort against food sensitivities I am going to put the semi cooked tomatoes thru the Foley food mill to remove the seeds and skin due to it being a nightshade. I also slice eggplant and salt it well and let it drain a good while to help with that. I helped my mother in law with her tomatoes in Italy. Giant cauldron over a fire, thru the big food mill and into half liter soda bottles and capped off with metal capping gadget. Must have been a lot of salt? She also had me stand by as she processed he chickens and rabbits. She was an awesome WW2 survivor basically in the frontline. All I can do is pluck a chicken, she did it all.
I’m so going to be making this in a couple weeks, I was going to ask about using canned tomatoes but you answered it for me. Thank thank you sooo much.
Looks wonderful. I need to do some canning soon. I don't have a garden. We have a ton of those chunky soups in the stockpile. We don't really enjoy them but we figure we can suck it up, better than starving in an emergency! If I spent a little time canning my own I can pass these cans to family members who would appreciate them.
There were a few cases of canning jars, pints and quarts, in Danville, KY today. It’s sort of like an Easter egg hunt, though. They are placed on many different shelves all over the home section of the store. Good luck!
Just did my first tomatoes ever...I am going to do this soup next. Looks delicious and will be a great way to use the tomatoes in a different way. Thank you!
I just love your videos no matter what you are talking about I think you would be a person who anyone could have a good time with love your attitude about everything have good weekend an remember or veterans on labor day as well as everyday God bless you an yours
Looks yummy ! I freeze my tomatoes after I blend in blender , and make soup when I have fresh veggies available but love you’re tip frozen veggies awesome! Add Italian seasoning too.
I canned a really good tomato soup last year, tastes better then Campbells. Told my husband, I'm only canning that, came in handy when we were going thru covid a couple weeks ago. I raw packed 5 yrs of tomatoes last year too, thought about converting those over to soup but don't want to waste lids😬 your veggie soup looks awesome! I may do that too. Thank you for the idea!
thanks for this video! i hate to admit it but Campbells veg soup is a fave of mine when talking about canned soup, so i followed your UNrecipe except i used homemade chicken broth and OMG! tastes almost the same! no more ? in what is in it! so thank you so much for sharing! oh and i love watching your channel even just for the entertainment.
Love your cupboards. I did something similar with my gnarly overused cupboards to salvage them but with barn red paint. That soup --- could just jump right in! 😉💚
You know you're a homesteader when you go to town and all you come home with is 50 chicks on clearance! Jackpot 60% off Cornish cross and production reds
I've canned 18 pints of beans, 27 quarts of chili, 18 quarts of vegetables soup, 27 pints chicken, 18 pints pork this week...
Whew!!
You can add groud beef, noodles, chicken, so many options
I believed I’ve watched this video a handful of times over and over. I canned veggie soup because of the help of this video. Make more canning videos please. I love them!
Canning this on a cold, wintery day in WV. Froze my garden tomatoes like someone here suggested. It is working well.😋
I've been making this soup for years and learned it from my mom. Bless my kids hearts, they're in their 30s and call it Moms Soup🥰keep making it ladies!🥄

I love my vegetable soup warmed the next day in my iron skillet with cornbread cooked on top yum

I’m all over this! Have some garden tomatoes, corn, and potatoes that I need to use. Farmers market will fill in the rest 😸.
Oh! The colors in those jars are gorgeous! Just makes me think of cooler weather right around the corner!
I totally agree!

I could watch you cook all day.You make it fun..thank you.
I soak my diced, cut up potatoes in cold water to remove the starch. Learned that from Julia Child when she was making French fries.

Ain't no shame in this game 😅 Love it! You are so right; it's about stocking that pantry.
I can soup in pint jars also because soup is my go to lunch for work during our cold winters up in the north east.
We canned 12 quarts of minestrone soup last week. Then used another 20 pounds of tomatoes, onions and herbs from the garden to make roasted tomato spaghetti sauce this weekend.

As soon as you dumped in the potatoes, my mouth started watering!!!
Talk about perfect timing! Just picked up my first pressure canner after doing water bath on and off since 2011
Thank you. I love soup of any kind!
I grew up on Grandma's vegetable (tomato, corn & okra) soup. With a piece of fried crispy corn bread it just cured what "ailed" you. 💯
I ALWAYS LEARN SOMETHING WATCHING YOU! ❤ THANKS PATARA!
I love vegetable soup in the winter with cornbread.
Waiting on second cooker of veggie soup with chicken tonight. You gave me inspiration to go to store and chicken, corn on sale. I had gallon of tomatoes, onions, and celery. Thank you. Mine looks great too.
Made 11 pints salsa yesterday with garden grown tomatoes, peppers onions and garlic. Today was 7 quats tomato juice for chili.
My go to:
Vita Mix and and All American Canner. What would I do without them?
So grateful I learned preserving from my grandma in the 50’s and 60’s!
We make something similar and call it "end of season soup". One green tomato for every two red, everything else from the garden and fried bacon for flavor too. You're right, it's wonderful to have in the winter.
Looks delicious! My great granny used to bring us a big pot of vegetable soup and some cornbread. 😋😋😋
I hope you do a canning chili video. It’s our family go to. Love all your videos.

Oh yum, any day is a good day for homemade vegetable soup! Just my southern opinion from Texas! And some homemade cornbread only cooked in a skillet!
Ran into a great sale on potatoes so I canned 7 quarts yesterday and put 3 bags of diced ones in the freezer.
Patara, you make everything look easy. Thank you.
My grandmother used to make this. She passed on before I learned how. Thanks for sharing!
