Hey! That is quite personal info so I am not sure if they would give you the details but like her husband said, and I agree, you need to compare locations in the UK to determine what you can afford. For example a 3 bed house in London where I live can go for 350-400k whereas in Chesterfield in the Midlands the same house could go for 170k. So you have to do your research to determine what you can and cannot afford. Also if you are considering purchasing a newly built property, the Government has schemes in place such as the help to buy scheme where the Gov assist with providing a loan on top of what the banks will give you and you also have shared ownership scheme where you can purchase a percentage of a property, please look online for more detail to consider which one would work for you (though I personally believe the second one can be a bit of a headache, my two cents). No you cannot buy a room only, you may want to consider buying a studio flat or one bed apartment although worth considering what the implication of that will be on the stamp duty land tax (a tax paid when buying a property) when you then decide to buy a bigger property later. All this info can be found on the gov.uk websites. Hope this helps

I also came to Uk in 2019, have a debit card, not a credit card. So the question is does one have to get a CREDIT card to build your credit score and show banks how you are able to payback money (to know if you can pay back loans..etc). However, I still get to see my credit score of my debit card, on Experian. Please can someone shed more light on this and where do I get a credit card, must it be with my current bank. I plan to buy a house in a years time.Massive congratulations Tochie and Dozie!!God bless you guys.
Vallerie Sign up with clearscore. They then send you your score per month and also inform you of what loans you may be eligible for if you apply and credit cards. They do the work for you. You do not have to get a credit card only with your bank Bless you
