Elvis's Backup singers were in tears; they said. "I'VE Never heard him sing like that!"- and Elvis broke down back stage- Most Heartfelt Entertainer EVER🤍🤍🤍
yes. im caught in a trap right now. I knew there was someone like Elvis. But I DISCOVERED him for myself first time this week. Something changed in me. I envy myself that I can experience these feelings at this moment.
This was the last song from a TV special. He wasn't supposed to sing it,..but he went against the Colonel and did it anyway Elvis was heartbroken that during that year he had lost two good friends...Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy... he did this as a tribute to them. Elvis was a huge humanitarian, he believed everything he sung in the song... hence the emotion. It's writers' based it on the MLK "I had a dream" speech
So happy to see that you have found Elvis. I am 66 and I had not heard this particular song - someone said he cried when he went backstage. He was a deeply religeous man and cared and about his fellow human being, no matter what colour. A gospel singer - it comes across. I love sharing this with a new generation. I am from Uk
There is so much to know about Elvis the MAN ,he was a Great Humanitarian who did so much for so many , there are numerous stories of his kindness and generosity !
@@TeezMcGee I shared your reaction on two of the biggest Elvis FaceBook groups. Elvis fans feel his legacy is in good hands when they heard your words. One comment that I got and really liked is: “ Love this wonderful video! What a thrill to witness the birth of a new Elvis fan hearing him for the first time! “
I agree. but I'm glad we got to live in the Elvis era & got to turn on the radio & hear his songs & watch him perform on TV. I'm very glad we can now see him on RUclips . Like you say, now the younger generations can see him & enjoy him just as we do. I've watched several different reaction videos of the reactors first time listening to Elvis sing & it's always the same...They're amazed at what they heard. It's not what they were expecting to hear. Elvis was one of the best singers thre was or ever will be!!!

As an18 y/o white male growing up near Memphis this one performance changed the way I thought & I’m so happy it did. Keep the dream alive young man ! I’ll continue to do my part too.
One of the most powerful vocal performances ive ever seen in my 61 years, Elvis may have left the building but his legend and impact will live on forever.
That was the ending performance of his 1968 Comeback Special. He sang it to honor MLK who was assassinated in Apr. 1968. Elvis hit the National scene in Jan. 1956, with his recording of Heartbreak Hotel. From 1956-his death at age 42, in 1977, he recorded about 750 songs, was in 31 movies and he toured and performed in Vegas from 1969-1977. He excelled at every singing genre. He was a great performer live, and he could dance. He grew up dirt poor, and was known for his generosity, charisma and talent. On June 24th, a 2:30 hr new documentary movie is being released, with Tom Hanks playing Elvis’ manager.
I don't know what's gotten into me, but I've been listening to Elvis All weekend and loving him even more. This song absolutely blows me away! What a great man Elvis truly was.
Elvis Presley in his prime was the hottest man that ever walked the earth, ever! He’s still after 44 years, the undisputed King of Rock N’ Roll and he always will be. God was really showing off when he made Elvis. ❤️
I can vividly remember the day that I came home from school and my mother was reading the newspaper and crying. She told me that Elvis was dead. Everyone was devastated. People were crying openly in the streets. Many years later I experienced the same phenomena when Princess Diana died. Public grieving on a world wide scale. Elvis meant so much because he connected with your soul. Amen.
I'll never forget the day I heard on the radio that Elvis had died...Everyone loved him so much! It was such a shock! Can you do Elvis's Trilogy? Google it. It's one of his best ever performances. It's very powerful, like this song is.
This song was a response to the assassinations of Martin Luther King & Bobby Kennedy. A lot of the lyrics are quotes taken from Dr. King's speeches. The saddest part of this song is that over 50 years later it's still relevant as we are STILL struggling to come together because of lingering racial inequality. Peace to you in 2021 Teez!
Actually If I can Dream had no relationship to Bobby Kennedy's death but did to Dr. King's death. Walter Brown wrote the song in response to Dr. King's speech and death, recorded it in June 1968 and released it in November 1968. Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June 1968 but the song was written before in April/May.
@@461Jacque From a purely factual standpoint where the song is concerned, you are right but this song was a reaction to much more than MLK`s assassination. There was also the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965. Emotionally speaking, songs like this don`t develop overnight. Psychologically the Nation and the world was in turmoil and in a very vulnerable state. During that time leaders have been assassinated left, right, and centre, while the Vietnam War was still going on costing so many lives.
@@lechat8533 Was there when it was written and recorded so yes I know what the emotions were behind the song. I've lived here all my life and the song's beginning was before the death but after the speech but related purely to that speech and the climate at the time.

"Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!" You are so right about that - both the song and the man. It's good to see so many younger reactors checking out Elvis. This is such an excellent song for a first reaction. It's from his 1968 Comeback Special and it was written in the wake of a very turbulent time in America following the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. The message is actually an echo of Dr King's famous dream voiced in Washington in 1963. As you can see Elvis sang this with so much conviction and passion. He admired Dr King (some Elvis fans tend to claim that they were friends but there's no substantiated proof of this) and was devastated to hear of his murder. Such a shame that a song with a message first heard in 1968 remains too relevant today. By the way, if you delve deeper into Elvis, you're in for a treat. He sang just about every genre of music: from country to rock n roll, gospel, rhythm and blues and pop.
