Before anyone did anything elvis did everything
You are absolutely right Elvis could fight and sing dance Act be tough be cool be funny he had many gifts and talents no telling what he could have achieved with the right management Still an icon and a legend perhaps biggest icon of the 20th century his charisma alone tells it all
He speaks of unity and equality and peace. He was a spiritual man when he sang. 🌻 The song, says it all.
The gentlemen reacting says it all. 🎶
John Lennon said before Elvis was nothing in music. Elvis broke the rules. He Is the king.
Let's face it.. Elvis had it all. Gorgeous man.. Amazing gift and endless charisma.. Not many artists have it all.. He certainly did..
sandy s Elvis was cool before cool was a thing! Elvis could sing the phone book and make it sound beautiful and interesting! Michael was more of a performer than a powerful voice, make no mistake he could sing but he couldn’t hold a candle to Elvis vocally.
Agree with Elvis raw power. He had vocal range of an opera singer. Elvis was more versatile for his ability to sing more genres than any performer
And from what I read a long long time ago..the voice experts said that Elvis's voice ( or singing voice ) is considered a ' high baritone '. I have never forgotten that... I'm not an expert on voices but that sounds like what you've said...So I would have to agree that Elvis would be in the realm of an opera singer as well. ..Cheers..
@@pallen49 It's Now or never.. Is a song that displays Elvis's opera voice...
@@pallen49 I agree w/ u 100 %!! & listening 2 our dear & sweet Elvis u really can hear that in alot of Elvis songs & his reactions 2!!! TCB & TLC xxxxx ooo!
@@TheFarmerfitz ...Yep, and not sure if you know this...But the song ' It's now or never ' is actually ( out of ALL the songs Elvis ever recorded or sang ) he said it was his ' favorite '..I recall seeing in a documentary once ..
@@darlenedeluca725 ..Oh yes, definitely...I too can hear it in a lot of his songs . Cheers my friend xxxx
The assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis, as well as that of U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy, affected Elvis Presley deeply. These feelings led Elvis to give one of the most passionate performances of his career. The song contains direct quotes from MLK and was recorded just 17 days after Kennedy's assassination.
@Brett Stanton Dipshit this was written for the special after Bobby was killed. Elvis was an immense fan of MLK. But hey don't let facts get in the way of your hate.
Yep...
@Brett Stanton you are way way way wrong...
David Hunt spot on David...
@@davidhunt3689 Yep. We got to watch some of these people out there pushing BS about Elvis. People like Mr. Stanton are problematic and only saying more about themselves than they say about Elvis with their nonsense.
Not only were there numerous documented people close to Elvis. Verified his respect from Martin Luther King and the movement, but Elvis's personal owned vinyl record that had a dozen of Martin Luther King's speeches on it was verified by Graceland archives a couple years ago. In fact one website has a member of Graceland archives holding that album in a photo.
Anybody interested in listening to it by the way, that MLK album was titled "Martin Luther King In Search of Freedom". It's uploaded somewhere here on RUclips.
Oh, also Martin Luther King's partner during the movement, Andrew Young, made it public statement couple years ago in Atlanta that Elvis was a personal Financial contributor to Martin Luther King's movement. One documentarian that was allowed access to Graceland archives a few years ago stated they saw the financial records verifying Elvis signed checks to MLK Foundation.
Elvis had to push hard to get this song on the show. His management wanted a Christmas song instead. No other mainstream artist would push this in 1968.
You are correct
Technically he already had a Christmas song on that special. He performed Blue Christmas if memory serves me right.
Sure did, but they wanted another one instead of "If I Can Dream"🤙
No auto tune and no lessons, just raw talent
Elvis didn't have autotone. Just raw talent. Nobody had his sex appeal, that's for sure ❤
No one person will ever affect music and the world like Elvis Presley did ! He is and always will be the king 👑
Elvis is the GOAT. No. One. Comes. Close.
There will NEVER be another Elvis Presley! He was a one of a kind! He'll always be the King! Please listen to his Gospel!
Elvis is simply the greatest of all times.
Totally agree
Santiago Pasha Pereira you are so right. Unfortunately he was buried on my 4th birthday August 18th 1977. How I wished I could gotten the opportunity to go to a Elvis concert.
Elvis hands down the best singer & entertainer ever💕
Elvis sung from his heart a soul.
"I’ll tell the world Elvis was the greatest of all time. I'm a Muslim who's black who stands up for what he believes. I don't have to say what I don't feel, I'm not false, I don't have to say this." Elvis's friend Muhammad Ali, 1985
Elvis is the best singer ever and will remain so.
I'm think linor not see another performance !! Elvis is another level ...
Elvis the best is not King is god
I think we are basically fusing singer/performer together and that wouldnt be fair to either one. Mj can dance better but Elvis could dance back in the day during his time. Elvis made movies and MJ not so much. Just enjoy greatness when you see it and enjoy it for what it is at the time...It's all good..
Both were entertainers and they entertained no doubt.
Tim Hall - MJ doesn’t even come close to record sales. The King of All music has sold over 600 Million = 600,000,000 and MJ is at half that at 300 Million. And it has been said that MJ got his dance moves from Elvis. Before MJ, Elvis was! Check out Jailhouse Rock Video, and you will see where MJ got his motivation.
I concur!
Still gives me goosebumps every single time...this song/performance should be considered the best of all time....
Elvis should have been given an Oscar and Grammy for this song and the performance. They were pretty unconscious back then. Elvis was way ahead of his time.
I never tire of hearing/watching this performance. Elvis had so much soul. I truly fantastic voice.
ELVIS ALWAYS NUMBER ONE FOR ME
Elvis was a huge proponent of equal rights. This song was in response to the assassin of MLK, & the sight on TV of a young teenage girl getting hit by water from a firehose during a protest! He saw first hand the struggles of fighting for equal rights.
Elvis : the GREATEST VOICE in musicland.
& agree w/ u 2!!!! nobody will ever replace Elvis ever!!!!!!!
I like MJ very much but Elvis was unique!
Theodora Kazantzidou MJ was unique as well. No need to rank great artists.
Elvis, MJ, and Frank Sinatra is my top singers ever! All unique and powerful!
Agree, no need to compare great artists. But Elvis is at the top! And MJ is a somewhat 2nd, then nobody comes close as single artists. Elvis has 600 Million Sales and MJ is at 300 Million. Then the rest fall into place.
You've got to listen to Elvis singing Gospel. He won 3 Grammy awards just for that ! Nobody out there can be compared to him.
4 grammies
I'm sorry you're right
No one better then Elvis ❤️
My grandmother was a _massive_ Elvis fan (something she passed on to me, as well as about 50 of his albums!) and I had this exact version played at her funeral. It still gives me a bit of a sad but, strangely, also happy little smile...
I want it played at mine along with My way and American trilogy
God bless you
Mom wanted the Elvis version of My Way at her funeral. We did and it means a lot more to me now. Definitely adds that twinge of sadness
People have argued about these two forever.
It's childish. They are two completely different
styles, times, generations etc...
Each artist can be appreciated for what they brought
to the table. It's not a contest.
No one is going to argue anyone else out of their preference.
One of my favorite quotes from Elvis Presley ....
"I hate to criticize another performer, there's room for everybody".
The most powerful performance ever by any artist, that had substance and strong message that applies throughout the ages!
Devon, Elvis performed this not long after the assassination of Martin Luther King. Elvis was very saddened & troubled by this.
Elvis was famous & incredibly talented, but his heart & love for humanity, is his legacy 💚💜💗💚💜
THE gold voice x 1.000.000.000.
THE king is The king 👑👑👑👑.
Awesome. More Elvis
If I remember correctly Elvis didn't care much for the tech stuff coming into the scene, so im pretty sure that with Elvis it was straight up Elvis. THAT, for me, means Elvis wins 😀💓
Elvis not only had a big range for for a baritone, but he also can sing many different genres, from R&B blues, to pop-rock, gospel, broadway, & folk ballad... somehow his personal fusion created the template for what we still have today in pop, rock, movie songs & big ballad; just listen to 1970's Just Pretend...
If I Can Dream was written by Earl Brown especially for the '68 TV special, befitting for the times, sung with new vocal approach by Presley; a perfect blend of big song ballad, rough towering vocal, & conviction...
Elvis is the best and loved his fan and his voice is unmatched and also a great entertainer. All he had to do is open his mouth an sing, what an amazing voice
Elvis Presley sung this song in a contribute to Martin Luther King a president John F Kennedy assignations Elvis cried when he watched it on TV he loved admired these two guys Elvis Presley had a soft emotional heart. Elvis presley was the best singer a Entertainer ever no body could touch his Genoristy a looks a talent Elvis had it all in spades.

Elvis Presley is the King of Rock & Roll. Michael Jackson is the King of Pop.
Great respect to both these iconic Entertainers. They are Legends in the Music Industry & will continue to be for the future generations forever. RIP xox
After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”
Watch 'American Triology' and lets see where Elvis goes in your top five ranking.
YES!! My absolute favorite performance of all time. Hands down!!
And Bridge Over Troubled Water
Elvis did this song as a tribute to MLK.
And Robert Kennedy
The reason Elvis was the King, is because he was the FIRST. The innovator.
Elvis is King -- and who can forget the late, great Freddie Mercury
Elvis caused a revolution that changed the whole world.
Love you Elvis...❤️
Oh eu amo Elvis... I Love Elvis forever ... Kisses from Brazil ;)
"Showcasing his voice". Right. Nobody before Elvis ever moved at all; they just stood there. People forget that , or never knew it.
Well I for one am glad you settled the singer debate and mj s fans heard you.

There would be no Michael Jackson if it wasn't for elvis .... he was the prototype .... elvis had more vocal range and broke in to more genres of music ... that's why he is the only artist to be in 4 hall of fames r&b country rock neroli n gospel ... and was a better mover no chreography there 😂🤣 didn't just do the moon walk 😂 After all Michael admired elvis sooo much ... don't forget he married his daughter Lisa Marie 😂🤣 don't see 100,000 people at Michaels home on his anniversarys ... just sayin 😂🤣 the king of all music not just pop 😂
Dude Elvis was the FIRST. It was easy to be Michael; it was scary to be Elvis. I love Michael. You know that you would be inundated with his fans.
Everything else to say has been said before; all of it is emotion. They were kings.
After that song Elvis said he will never record Another Song unless he experienced it believes in it or a friend wrote it for him Elvis could sing anything blues rock gospel it was said the music with through the mine down to the gut it came out from the heart by the way he was the only one on stage
Love it‼️I love his strong sultry voice..He gave me goosebumps..He saang with passion..from his soul❤️Powerful..
Great u say what u like! Elvis for me though because he had everything!
That voice. That power. This is why Elvis is The King.
How about a reaction to A Little Less Conversation?
The movie clip that proves Elvis was the king of cool.
When Elvis performed the different genres of music he showed his versatility and did it very well. He even did gospel music as well . Elvis was more masculine looking than Michael Jackson. As Eddie Murphy once said jokingly in one of his bit " he's not one of the most masculine guy but he could sing". True MJ was a good performed but Singingwise Elvis had the better voice. May these 2 Great! performers RIP.😍😍🎸😇😇
Yes elvis did this is coming from an mj fan
We have the King of Pop & the King of Rock and Roll. Wat cud be better than two Kings.
M.J. could moonwalk.Elvis dwarfs him in every other category as far as talent goes.
Simply the Best! ❣
Elvis true soul revealed
He finishes the song with his eyes closed and when he opens them you can see that he didn't even know where he was. He was so into singing this song that he transcended everything around him and sang from his soul.
Elvis The King!
Elvis s early music and moves was great .I think elvis had the whole package .looks moves voice .esp early on .he was unique .Michael was great too . Just from diff eras .thanks for reacting to elvis my friend .hope to see more maybe American trilogy from 73 alohah from Hawaii
If I Can Dream is in reference to Rev King's I Have A Dream speech. It was reported Elvis cried like a child when he heard Dr King was killed. Elvis wore a red tie signifying spilt blood in respect to the recent deaths of both Civil Rights leader and supporter; MLK and RFK. This was during a time when the nation and the world was grieving, Elvis sang how we felt

For me Elvis had It all. He’s the one all others are compared to. That said, how about “Treat Me Nice” or Elvis & Ann Margret’s “Cmon Everybody”
Both were icons, both had great voices and both did songs that tried to heal the world they lived in.
In the Ghetto by Elvis and Man in the Mirror by Michael. The sad part, they both died to young.

Elvis was so moved by the song and his experience with it that he told Binder, I'll never sing another song I don't believe in. I'm never going to make another movie I don't believe in'. 'If I Can Dream was featured at the end of Elvis's Singer Special (later known as the '68 Special) on December 3, 1968. This was the first time the public heard the song, and it was later released as a single with 'Edge of Reality (recorded for the film 'Live a Little, Love a Little') as its flip-side in November 1968. The single spent 13 weeks on the U.S. pop chart peaking at #12. In the U.K., it was on the chart for 10 weeks, peaking at #11. It is now a Gold Record single. Elvis Presley Lyrics Words & Music by W. Earl Brown Elvis Presley Lyrics There must be lights burning brighter somewhere Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue If I can dream of a better land Where all my brothers walk hand in hand Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true There must be peace and understanding sometime Strong winds of promise that will blow away All the doubt and fear If I can dream of a warmer sun Where hope keeps shining on everyone Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear We're lost in a cloud With too much rain We're trapped in a world That's troubled with pain But as long as a man Has the strength to dream He can redeem his soul and fly Deep in my heart there's a trembling question Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle And while I can think, while I can talk While I can stand, while I can walk While I can dream, please let my dream Come true, right now Let it come true right now Oh yeah Recorded: 1968/06/23, first released on single
Elvis had all the package, he had a great voice, charisma, stage presence and was one of the most handsome man I've ever seen.
There is a great article called "the 50 voices of Elvis " it is a great read with voice specialists and music critics and famous singers giving their take on Elvis 😎
Where can I get my hands on this article
No one could convey passion and emotion in the lyric like Elvis Presley he literally is the greatest singer of songs that ever walked the face of this planet
My very favorite Elvis song!! Head to toe goosebumps every single time I hears this!! He put his entire soul into this song and you feel it! THIS is what church is missing!!
Elvis is the King . His voice was Amazing from rockabilly to rock n roll to pop to soul to opera
It is almost 3:30 AM Eastern Time, and the video clip is still up her on RUclips. Thanks for sharing your reaction video here on RUclips.
I had the privilege of seeing Elvis perform in person two times in my life. I was very young. My mother was a big fan. My sister and I would accompany her, to his show (when he performed in Tampa Florida). "If I Can Dream", has to be my favorite Elvis song. Probably due to this performance. It was so heartfelt. I did a little research, to find out the story about the song. What I found out is this...It was Elvis' reaction to the news of President John F. Kennedy's assassination that lead to the creation of the song 'If I Can Dream', a tribute song to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., featuring direct quotes from the Civil Rights leader. In the spring of '68, when Elvis was working on his upcoming TV special, 'Elvis'.
Elvis has Universal appeal only two other men ever had it that's Muhammad Ali and Bruce Lee and and through his career Elvis showed many different talents even in acting too bad his management team squandered his talents most of the time Elvis has talent were not use right that being said Elvis was a man of many voices especially in the late fifties and early sixties he's sang everything from rockabilly to Opera Blues love ballads and Mexican music and did it well even in the 70s sad to say his declining years he was still able to belt out Rich powerful notes his versatility as a singer is definitely unmatched so is his iconic status no telling what Elvis could have achieved with better management even in his early movies King Creole Jailhouse Rock Kid Galahad flaming star wild in the country he showed some great acting potential and yes Elvis was a very good actor like I said to bad he had bad management anyhow still a legend will always be an icon his legacy will never die so many talents he had that people don't even talk about great video thank you
I read a long long time ago where many professional acting experts said Elvis was actually a pretty good actor. They didn't say he was bad or horrible...They shared the same sentiment as you...and I do too. To me personal, I think Elvis was a natural when comes to acting, especially in the type of roles he was cast.. he seems comfortable with it...all because due to his entertainment talent and abilities..imo
@@pallen49 Elvis Presley made a handful of great movies that showed his acting potential Loving You Jailhouse Rock King Creole flaming star wild in the country Kid Galahad All Greek movies and performances Elvis was capable of so much more but he was her back and poorly managed he was a natural on the movie screen and he had tell it to do drama and comedy just as well he was offered many of the great movies but his management team kept turning them down just to make money on low-budget musicals but all in all he made at least 10 or 12 great movies and a few others that were entertaining Elvis had many talents they weren't always utilize right big part of his demise but he was very gifted and very talented in everything he did thank you have a good day
Elvis is one of the most recognized & famous people in music history, & no doubt, one of the most talented, however his heart & love for humanity, is his true legacy 💚💜💗💚💜 I wish with every fiber of my being, that his dream would come true right now!!!
Check out Elvis from 1968 Comeback Special, "Lawdy Miss Clawdy". This is the RAW Elvis!!
My two favourite singer's of All Time..... If I was stuck on a desert island....? Elvis & Sam Cooke!!!👌👑👍
Michael was a great performer, Elvis was the voice and charisma!
ELVIS AND MICHAEL JACKSON WAS ABSOLUTELY A MAGNIFICENT GIFT FROM GOD!!!!
I agree..but they came at least two decades apart.
@@barbaramarkland7441 WHICH MEANS …..GOD GIVES US MORE THAN ONE GIFT!!!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!
The 68 Comeback Special was the first "unplugged".
Elvis is the GOAT because his voice sounds unbelievable especially when he sings gospel music - his 1st love.
Elvis sang from his heart. Elvis will always be King of music.
My favorite all around artist is Elvis. I do like Michael Jackson as well. What kind of world would it be if we all only liked the same singer. The world of music would never evolve and we'd only have the motzarts and Beethovens to hear. I also prefer a male voice that is deeper and agree its just more powerful.
Long haired music

Elvis is truly the greatest voice I’ve ever heard! Elvis was WELL ELVIS - know what I mean?!
Reaction American trilogy Hawaii live 1973, please thanks 😎👑🕺
The thing about elvis presley was his soul depth and diversity.
A once in a lifetime iconic artist, the likes of which may never be seen again.
What about “mean woman blues” by Elvis. It’s a movie clip/song and very very young Elvis at 22 years old
His vocal range, passion and charisma remains unmatched to this day. RIP The King
"Who's Lovin' You" is one of the all time great blues songs; powerful vocal. Love Elvis and Love Michael. Both Great!
Ha bro this is one of his best your in for a treat. Strong message and clean looking good man. And It's from the heart and the soul and yes he could sing you'll feel it. The 👑 still living on ELVIS THE GOAT.!!!
Great reaction! I agree, I loved his 60's look too. Elvis is my all time favorite, his really best work vocally is his Gospel, imo. He performed gospel in every concert I've ever seen of his. Love his rock and Roll stuff too, nobody could beat him in sheer charisma and sexiness!
Michael Jackson is my 2nd favorite performer. His dance moves, and his pop songs are just impossible to beat. I think Elvis Presley wins 1st place as greatest entertainer who ever lived, for me, simply because he was so intensely sexually charismatic you can't take your eyes off him when he's on the screen, as well as being an incredible singer and dancer. Anyway, just my opinion.
And again, great reaction video. I love these types of videos, so I'll be subscribing and coming back for more! 🙋♀️
Elvis background singers in the the late 60's were black. Can you imagine how that went over with most people. He was going to the ASTRO dome in Texas and was told he could come(Elvis the pelvis problem) but his girls had to stay home. He said , "no, you want me then the girls come too and better be given the star treatment " Elvis full band and back up went!!!
That’s thing about opinions everyone has one .because when Michael was young his voice was god but when Michael got old like in the 80’s they had auto tone and MJ used a lot but in Elvis time they never had auto tone it was all voice.
This was the '68 Comeback Special. You need to watch the entire. show! Also watch him on the Frank Sinatra Show!!! He sings FAME AND FORTUNE, WITCHCRAFT, and A WHOLE LOT OFSHAKING GOING ON. THIS WAS YOUNG ELVIS AT HIS BEST. It is black and white and the quality is great. PLEASE, PLEASE would somebody play these songs for me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Jacksons talent was as a creator, dancer entertainer. Thats where he shone, but as a vocalist he was barely average, very one dimensional - all just opinions though. Peoples strengths lie in different areas is my point.
So right elvis did do everything. Only one no one will ever compare no one can come close. He was a gift. Forever remembered ....
.
Elvis sang this live before the record was released.
I am old enough to remember when Elvis died. He was so famous all over the world, that when news got out that he died, the entire world grieved for this man. I am not exaggerating. EVERYBODY was devastated. It's still fresh in my mind to this day when the news came out about his death.
Awesome mate. I agree with what you say on the performance and voice comparison between Elvis and Michael. Just tell it the way you see it. Cheers
This song was his tribute to Martin Luther king. This performance was right after Dr King had been assassinated.
He is so much better than MIchael Jackson. Remember, Elvis had no auto tune.
Neither did Michael
You aren't gonna make us mad by only putting Elvis in your top 5. It just tells us you don't know any better. LOL :)
it is important to understand the history of this song. Directly from WIKI
"If I Can Dream" is a song made famous by Elvis Presley, written by Walter Earl Brown[1] and notable for its direct quotations of Martin Luther King, Jr.[2] The song was published by Elvis Presley's music publishing company Gladys Music, Inc. It was recorded by Presley in June 1968, two months after King's assassination.
Elvis better singer and charisma. But Michael was great!
Elvis also NEVER used autotune, because it did not exist. Listen to Elvis song called Trilogy. You should also listen to any song by the Righteous Brothers. Their presence on stage and their style was coined as Blue eyed Soulk. They will blow you away.

Elvis' voice had a warmth and richness that most others just can't match.
