How To Make Tofu

  • We always assumed making tofu involved weeks of preparation and lots of fancy ingredients or gadgets. But that couldn’t be further from the truth! With some little ol’ soya beans, lemon juice and a DIY tofu press...you’ll be munching down on your very own homemade tofu in no time at all
This is our tried-and-tested recipe for the perfect tofu. Head to the link in our bio to get the full recipe where you’ll find lots of tips and tricks to guide you through the process sovegan.co/tofuu
We’ve also included the ingredients and steps below:
    3 cups dried soya beans (550g / 19.5oz)
    4 tbsp lemon juice
Add the soya beans to a large mixing bowl and cover with water almost to the top of the bowl. Leave to soak for 6 hours or overnight.
Drain the soya beans and rinse under water. Next blend the soaked beans in 3 litres / 101 fl.oz of water (we usually do this in 3 batches). Then transfer the milk to a nut bag over a large mixing bowl. Squeeze the bag to extract the milk into the mixing bowl. This can take up to 10 mins or until the pulp inside the bag is mostly dry
Transfer the soy milk to a large saucepan over a low-medium heat. Bring the milk to a gentle simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring regularly. Use a skimmer or a fine sieve to remove any foam or skin that collects on the surface
Meanwhile combine the lemon juice with 200ml / 6.8 fl.oz of water. After the soy milk has finished simmering, remove from the heat and leave for a couple of minutes to settle. Then stir in roughly a third of the diluted lemon juice. Stir in the remaining diluted lemon juice in two more batches and keep stirring until the soy milk curdles. If the milk doesn’t curdle, add it back to a low heat until the curds form
Use a skimmer or fine sieve to transfer the curds to your chosen press. Then press for a minimum of 15 mins or longer depending on how firm you like your tofu
You can eat the tofu immediately. Alternatively add the tofu to an airtight container and submerge it in water where it will last for up to 5 days in the fridge

IT is one of the plants that has the highest level of fighto estrogens or in short term "estrogen" eat this plant almost everyday if you really want to castrate your self. Soy other plants have estrogen almost every plat has estrogen but some have way too much like soy beans and flaxseeds specially. guess what is the plant that has the highest level of estrogen in the whole world you guess it right is FLAX SEEDS. I now discover the mystery why all this dudes in the internet posting videos about soy foods what all of them have in coment you guess it right they all look WEAK BIG WEAK people. now i do not wonder why is rear to see a Chinese or Japanese person with mustaches or a lot hairy features beard in there body you guess it right they use soy or soy beans to be specific in there food culture they used so much soy beans for everything , soy sause, soy tofu, etz. they are basically castrating or basically not castraing them self's because if they were castrated we will not see Japanese and Chinese or Asians in general right now but my whole point is that they are not that MASCULINE or masculine at all.

I think you get more nutrition in your tofu if you heat the whole thing, pulp and milk, THEN strain. We make a veggie meat from the leftover pulp, called SOYSAGE. It's steamed or pressure cooked in small tins (leftover cans). I got the recipe many years ago from THE FARM, a self-sustaining vegan community that started in Summertown, TN after Woodstock was over. They did some cookbooks. I still make it, bc it's Soo yummy (tho' I've tweaked it to use much less oil). Even meat eaters luv this stuff! The FARM is no longer there. Last I had contact they were only do book publishing, & that's been a few years. They used to sell soybeans, TVP, tempeh starter, nutritional yeast, & much more.

You'll probably change your mind. There are a lot of things that can go wrong. This #short is too short for those who want to try it. Search around RUclips & learn more, or you'll be wasting expensive soymilk that could be drank (is drank a word? lol).

    • @vegangelist
      @vegangelist 6 месяцев назад

Yes @@TheStaffOfLife there is some info missing in this short for tofu making.
Also: yes, "drank" is a word but it isn't correct in this particular sentence. You should say "that could be drunk." Drunk is often used with the word "have" such as: I could have drunk the milk, but I wasn't thirsty.
Here's an example of how to use drank: the soymilk is gone because he drank it all last week.
Drank is past tense. Drunk is the past participle so it will have a helping verb (usually have/has).
      Hope that helps.

OK so I look at this and I think oh sweet I'd eat that. Instead of the weird vacuum sealed stuff at stores.

Awesome video. Can you add spices to it to give it different flavors?

It is marinated after pressing, usually. **Then can be used in stir-frys, scrambles, casseroles, sandwich spread, etc. Many just use tamari or aminos or soy sauce. But when you pan brown for stir-frys, you can sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Also, when you add the sauce to your stir-fry, it picks up the flavors of fresh ginger, the spices, heat, garlic, etc. It's healthy, but very high calorie, so don't eat too often. You'll prob need to ingest more fluids a few hours after enjoying it. It's a concentrated protein & not for small children to eat A LOT...small servings only (but big servings of veggies!). *Suggestions*
