- An assault suspect who led authorities on a chase while performing stunts was taken into custody in Santa Monica Thursday afternoon. Gil Leyvas reports from Sky5 for the KTLA 5 News at 12 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2023.

L A spike strips are largely ineffective; usually curls up under the car and misses the wheels. Needs to be on a scissor frame, like those in the U K. Come on L A, do you not see that? And the spikes are too small; takes another 100 miles before the wheels go flat. Furthermore, the cops have no strategy, no tactics, no smarts, but an abundance of respect for the criminal!!!

They just invented a device that can shut down any vehicle soon, It's a short ranged EMP, basically a taser for the vehicle. That short circuits the car and they are gonna make devices that can remote shut off cars too. So these pursuits in the future are not likely gonna ever happen again.
Currently the only way to stop vehicles is actually pit maneuver or spike strips, but it causes too much damage and is considered wreckless.
