    I just got my 2022 Hellcat back on tuesday after the engine blew up on March 3rd at only 1150 miles. Dodge replaced the engine without any charge to me. I have to applaud them for fixing the vehicle after doing all the testing( to make sure I didn't tune or modify the vehicle) paperwork and repairs in only 6 weeks exactly.

  • @ReignitedAuto
    @ReignitedAuto 19 дней назад +11

    As a 13 year dodge tech and i can confirm what he's saying here. Everything that has happened to this point is exactly what would have happened at my dealer as well. These cars being at the price point they are, Stellantis is going to put out extra effort to take care of the customer (youtuber or not) and of course the engineers will want the engine back complete to look at it themselves. In a situation like this they don't want the tech at the dealer taking it apart, they want to see the whole problem for themselves. This is actually good news because they may be able to identify whether this is just a mechanical issue that is isolated to this engine, or if it's a design issue.
    The owner here did not do anything wrong and is clearly using the vehicle as it was designed, stop trying to pin blame on people. Stuff happens to all vehicles, if it didn't, i wouldn't have a job.

    • @4JaayTv
      @4JaayTv 20 дней назад +3

      Look…….YES- the car was made for the drag strip and get beat on , but it doesn’t mean do it as soon as you hit 2000 miles/go past the break in period. I think it has more to do with that. CANT just thrash the car with back-to-back-to-back passes when the engine is barely broken in 😂

    • @expectnolove9978
      @expectnolove9978 20 дней назад +2

      @4JaayTv if that was the case.... they should've specified that ,plus demonology and many other utubers have been racing without any issues... I know for a fact there was one racing before the car even allowed the ethanol to be activated, so that was before brake in.... Dodge puts locks on certain features of the car until after the first 500 miles.... These newer engines don't need thousands of miles to be broken in.... sorry I have to disagree with you on this.....

    Take my advice man, once you get the Demon back sell that shit. Non matching number engine is already going to hurt the value of the car in the long run. Quality control and people who know how to work on these things are only going to get worse and worse under Stellantis. As you even pointed out they won't be able to test this properly once they "fix" it so there's a really good chance you will be going back and forth with the dealership and at some point they're going to stop helping you and that might happen if you get another nuked engine.

    Racer x, don't take what some say the wrong way. You're doing an awesome thing and a good job with everything. The demon 170 is freaking sweet, and you just keep going with everything. I would be curious to know if your car was driven at all before you took ownership of it? If anyone drove your car before you, they may have beaten on it prior to you getting it. Meaning they could have tried to launch it or drag race your 170 before you took delivery of it. That could have damaged it. Then you went into drag racing, and the debris could have just chewed everything up more. I do believe the manufacturer does a great job assembling these cars. A little bit of debris could have gotten into the engine in the engine assembly process. I know for a fact these are the best cars Mopar has ever made. I own a '19 Scat Challenger 6 speed manual, and it rips all the time. These are the best ever made and meant to be beaten on. Keep up the good work. You will always have haters. Just ignore the hate. I value what you're doing and love this car. Our Challengers are the same color. Just keep on doing all you can every day. Never give up and keep moving forward. Mopar is the best. Don't take anything we say the wrong way. We love what you're doing, and we need more from you and other Mopar guys. I think it was some small metal debris that chewed up the internals. Thank you for the videos and updates on the 170. These cars are factory drag race cars and top shelf meant to last for a long time. Made to drag race and made to be beaten on. Get the 170 fixed and enjoy the crap out of it.

    Modern close tolerance manufacturing has precluded the need for long careful break-in periods. Modern parts are researched, developed and engineered to exacting standards with respect to materials, coatings, finishes and hardness. For example modern piston rings are lapped to size during manufacture to seal immediately upon installation in an assembly. One manufacturer stated in a bulletin a few years ago that a break-in procedure is more about breaking in the new owner than the drivetrain. 500 miles is more than sufficient to establish an engine's readiness for regular duty. I believe Dodge's recommendation of a 1500 mile break-in period is more of an effort to delay further failures which gives them more time to come up with a strategy for solving the problem.

    Would installing an Accusump pressurized oil accumulator void the warranty? They were designed for engines without dry sump systems to ensure uninterrupted oil supply to the engine during short periods of pressure drop such as might occur in road racing or hard acceleration. Accusump also makes it possible to pre-oil an engine after oil and filter changes.

To prevent this in the future, I am suggesting a double catch can. Also, the type of oil used, I suggest Pennzoil or Amsoil depending on the engine oil rating. Again, it's better to ask an engine technician or engineers to see the best prevention method of an engine failure. Hopefully the transmission is fine. Best of luck sir, and hope to see you getting the trophies with The Demon.

Honestly, I feel like Dodge should build you the 3301st car of a limited 3300 unit series of vehicle. The reason I say that is if you ever try to sell the car will the value be diminished due to God, RUclips, Country and The World knowing you do not have an original engine anymore. Also, that extensive tests and repairs have been performed on a D170 with 2200-3000 miles. Maybe some D170 owners will start to think,…”Hmm, maybe my car is next." I mean Dodge has been marking these cars up pricing them to the stars. I’ve seen them priced at $300k!!!! Crazy. Anyways. What does that do for the other 3299 D170’s market value? Idk. Maybe they will be MSRP and Market value unaffected. Maybe they all just depreciated to less than MSRP if they have been sold or not. Sorry, I don’t mean to bash your car. I will say at the very least that Dodge delivered a lemon to you. Hopefully Dodge will ground hop and perform break in procedures on the next engine in a shop. Good Luck to you buddy. I guess that you may catch it before it completely breaks, but the dealer probably won't want to do anything until it grenades. I can't imagine going to a dealer and telling them that you found some metal in the oil after opening a filter. I will bet anything you want that they will tell you that it is normal.
