Great choices! She honestly gave her fans the album they wanted. I was blindsided by the critical reception, I know they don't really matter but like... seeing her get slammed for good work is genuinely annoying.
IDK why but whenever KP realises a new songs people always compare her to previous album prism like this song should on that album and then complain that she is playing safe or not giving much variety but from my perpective she is THE ARTIST to provide diversity in music if just look for it as seen in 365 although being a bop it is not given that much attention , and whenever she tries to do something different then she criticised harshly even if that song is good as we all have seen that in witness era. Like STOP she has come soo far and even after giving so much varity in music you don't think she has grown, that it sound like a personal problem to me.
That’s frustrating but true, if she were to drop an acoustic album or something vastly different there’d be unfair comparisons to OTHER artists and people saying “we miss the old Katy 😭”
But has she realy? There are so many of her songs that i can point to other artist who make more or less excactly the same songs and sound exactly the same. CRJ, Dua lipa etc make amazing fun pop songs all the time, every time, and make it fresh and new. But dunno, Teenage Dream was to good of an album i gues.
I'm Obsessed With ur Katy Videoosssss!!!!! You Should Do A Video Where You Tell Us A Few Underrated Songs By Katy! But My Fave Songs From Smile Is Only Love, Never Really Over, Teary Eyes And Cry About It Later! But If We Are Talking Smile Deluxe, Small Talk, Only Love And Never Really Over!!
Eljohn Macaranas I love them all, my top three albums are 1. Smile 2. Witness 3. Prism , I just really love Katy’s empowering songs, It’s what she’s best at and I think one of the only artists that perfects it everytime it’s one of her strengths as a unique artist such as Roar, Firework, Rise, Resilient, Daisies, etc
I actually loved this album, but the actual structure of it together really worked for me. On another note, I think you really need to listen to Mothica. She just dropped her debut album Blue Hour this week and it went number 1 on the pop itunes charts, and she’s an independent artist with no label which is really impressive. It’s an amazing alt pop album about her getting sober and overcoming alcoholism at a young age and it’s a total banger.
So I did a review of this album on AllMusic.com, but listening to your thoughts has helped me to understand it even better. I totally got it when you said that the album is 4 trilogies, which makes much more sense than segmenting it into just 2 parts. It totally clarifies the connections for me. Thank you!!
I fell in love with this album more than a year after its release - it helps me overcome my depression and leave "the darkness, sadness and misery" behind me!
She should re-release one of the boys with all her punky pop outtakes and bsides. In a “going back to her roots era” unless she wants to something more “techno-house-edm” like When I’m gone.. I wish she did punk pop or something edgy. But Katy is a “world artist” and a “calmed down mom” now who follows trends or at least trys to! Remember bon appetite 😅 Do you think she’ll sit out this regaton/experimental/arca/hyperpop era? Maybe she should 😮😮😮😮😮
I honestly would love Katy to try and go back to rock, maybe soft rock or like I Kissed A Girl-level punk, it's a great space for her (and the aesthetic is coming back on the charts.) But honestly, she should focus on making music she's happy and proud of. I don't think the expectations for her to chart exist anymore and maybe that's the BEST thing.
This album was really great and have many great songs like ''Daisies'', ''Never Really Over'' and ''Smile''. The problem, is that she didn't reinvented in a artist in this album like she have for the four first albums (depist ''Witness'' was bad, but her worst album of her career). When i listen the album, it's was a mix of ''Prism'' and ''Witness'' (because ''Teenage Dreams'' was a pop-rock album, but not hugely like ''One of the Boys''). ''Teenage Dreams'' was a fun album and very axed to the dance, while ''Prism'' was more a pop and slow album to the two first albums, because the majority of the songs of the ''Prism'' album was a ballad (nine of the sixteen tracks of ''Prism'' was a pop ballad) and was more the album of maturity for Katy with her intimate and personal side of her, but she choice the dancing songs in single for ''Prism'' (except ''Unconditionally'').
I just woke up and listened to this album and i just felt so surprised i was thinking it was going to be like a calm album like what makes a woman and dasies but wow, my favourite tracks off this album are: Never really over Not the end of the world Smile Champagne problems Cry about it later And Dasies. 🍾😅🎉
idk this album was just extremely underwhelming to me. i was so excited for a new katy album after hearing NRO when it came out, but nothing that came out after that came close to how good that songs was for me. i don't think it's a terrible album or anything it just felt incredibly stale and i wish she would have worked with zedd on more of the tracks. tucked was definitely a highlight though
That’s a valid opinion! I think she was spooked by Witness and wanted to present some safe tracks for fans. I blame the reactions/leaks for 365 as well. Katy’s not looking to reinvent the wheel anymore and essentially embraced being a legacy act with this record. I had a feeling that was the case when she actively didn’t promo NRO as much as she would have before.
This is gonna sound hella cheesy but I think she’s essentially “done” with pop in some ways. It reminds me of Iron Man in Endgame in some ways. Like they had their highs and their moments and paved a way but they’re taking a step back to enjoy other things (Katy seems to be more focused on starting a family with Orlando and I’m happy she’s happy!) the game was vicious to her the past few years so I’m just glad she was able to drop this, maybe next go around she’ll do something different but I think she’s left the chat in terms of competing or running the pop rat race.
Eljohn Macaranas i don't blame her it's been rough for her ever since witness and obviously her family is more important now than caring about charts or anything like that, and i'm really glad she's happy and even though i didn't much care for the record it was obvious that she was much happier and content on this than she was on witness. i'm still looking forward to what she does next regardless of when that may be or how successful it is
@@EljohnMacaranas I dont realy see why she is done with pop? She could still be that person, im starting to wonder why she is working with the wrong people? Or who ever made her make those albums? I still dont get it, going from Teenage Dream Amazing 11/10 album, to the other 4 who imo is pure Trash. Is beoynd me.
I'm actually really happy with what she delivered. It feels very much like a pivot towards the crowd who missed TD and PRISM but there are some tracks here for the witness crowd. This one's for Katycats first, then casual listeners. I hope she playlists a couple of the tracks!
Eljohn Macaranas I agree! i’m happy that she tries to throwing songs from each era and not making it one genre like witness was. I would love if she could have a album where it’s like a total different genre or like something that’s opposite from her. Like Lady Gaga did with Joanne. But like it’s a good album. I wish I was more songs from in it!
I actually like how trimmed up the album was (tho the Japanese version has Small Talk, Never Worn White, High Off Your Supply and a memo from Katy, they always get the best stuff!)

Let me know what track was your favorite? How well do you think the album will do?
Cry About It Later, Champagne Problems and Tucked are some of my favs, Katy slayed with this one, I enjoyed every single song, it was fun

2:15 it’s the other way around, the track was named after the baby
Damn! That makes it even more sweet! Awwww!
Teary eyes is my favorite song from the album
The chorus is cute
It sounds good
And it sounds similar to other songs on my playlist

The return to bop after bop was so welcome! I’m glad she made like 8 of the tracks traditional pop bangers! Great picks!
your opinion is really gd!
Thanks! I just wanted to be fair to the album, it’s solid work (not her all time best but definitely nothing worth roasting her for)
Love the album, but I can't get over the album cover😩 I just can't with it
There were better candidates but I like the fact she really went all in for the clown look!
@@EljohnMacaranas ik, but it's mostly the colors. I could've went for a more bright color scheme

the terrible album artwork rly turned me off from this album from the beginning
