The Kzinti are from the writings of Larry Niven. They will appear again in ST:TAS "The Slaver Weapon", an episode adapted from one of his stories, "The Soft weapon". It's probably my favorite TAS episode. I think you'll love it.
@@raymondregis6219 in the late 70s early 80s in an article he said the greatest sci-fi series he ever saw was a little Known in the US show called Doctor Who. He said he couldn't really discribe it but to check it out on local PBS stations and that we wouldn't regret it. He was right as they were wrapping up the John Pertwee era and 4th doctor Tom Baker was about to start up. So without Larry Niven I meant not have ever checked out Doctor Who
Thank you Courtney, these episodes helped keep Star Trek fun for adults & kids , active for Trekkies/Trekkers during the time between Cancellation, open syndication across the country & before the Motion Picture. By the way, The Survivor guest voice was Ted Knight (from The Mary Tyler Moore show, movie Caddyshack, his show Too Close for Comfort & many more!!)
I'm so glad you decided to react to the animated series! I've been looking forward to this all week (well six days)! Turns out the tribbles weren't pink due to genetic modification (but that's a good explanation). Hal Sutherland, the director of animation for Filmation was colorblind (he also didn't realize they'd made the Klingon uniforms purple), and often gets the blame. But it turns out that (according to Bob Kline the storyboard artist/character designer) it was a deliberate choice on the part of color director Irvin Kaplan who ignored reference photos because he liked how it looked. He also liked to use green and purple together a lot.
Infinite Vulcan is a great story and builds on the lore of The Ugenics War that was first mentioned in Tos episode Space Seed. Walter Keonig also wrote an episode of 70s Land of the Lost called The Stranger which introduced Enik, a technically advanced Sleesak who time traveled to what he thought was the past seeing how primative his race (the sleestak)was but ultimately discovered he had traveled forward in time and that his race had destroyed themselves. Great Show. And gawd I'm freaking old.
By now everyone must know these are Star Trek stories that took place after Turnabout Intruder. These are a continuation of their 5 year mission. And the Canon question? Hey, Both Gene Roddenberry and D.C. Fontana's names are in the credits. Its Star Trek
Great thing about the Animated Series that, since they don't have to build anything, they can make the aliens look more alien! Very interesting episodes, loved the video and loved your beauty 🙂
The robot ships first appeared in TAS. It wasn't until TOS was remastered that one was inserted into a live-action episode. One odd thing happens. Kirk orders the shields up before Scotty beams up Cyrano Jones. It was established by this time that one cannot beam through shields. And while the same writer wrote both tribble episodes, he said they occupy the same niche in their homeworld ecosystem as mice. So everything preys on them. The Klingons didn't have to genetically engineer a predator -- and Jones didn't have to swipe it. There were plenty to choose from on the planet they came from! Ted Knight (Carter Winston) was a staple voice actor in Filmation cartoons, and TAS was a Filmation production. He voiced the lead character in the cartoon version of _Fantastic Voyage,_ as well as a multitude of others. In his novelization of "The Survivor," Alan Dean Foster had the Vendorian assume the shape of the shield circuits he tore up in order to protect the ship, rather than, as Spock says here, become the deflector shield, itself. Honestly, if he was afraid of a bottle of acid, how would he have fared against Romulan weaponry? The plant that almost kills Sulu is called the retlaw plant. Guess what it spells backwards. "The Magicks of Megas-tu" is awfully problematic. It has a weird stardate that precedes all of TOS's episodes. The center of the galaxy is way off the _Enterprise's_ normal patrol route. Even with their warp drive, it would take longer to get there and back than their five-year mission. Plus we now know there's a massive black hole there, not any kind of a creation point. And one of the movies will blatantly contradict what we are shown here. When Asmodeus conjures up the ship's records, they appear as open reel tapes and old computer punch cards! And it is inaccurate to say that witches were burned in Salem. That happened across the pond. Commonly, they were hanged, or pressed (a practice where a board would be laid on top of the victim which would be loaded up with heavy rocks until the victim was crushed. And, once again, Sulu proves he is attracted to women by using magic to create one. So, no, his sexuality was never in doubt, as some would try to have us believe.
Lt. Uhura does not appear in "The Survivor", but NIchelle Nichols does voice Carter Winston's love interest. Meanwhile, Lt. Uhura's place was taken by an alien character voiced by Majel Barrett, the feline "Lt. M'Ress". We'll be seeing her again!
I remember exactly the moment you are talking about on *_Fullmetal Alchemist._* Col. Mustang didn't hesitate for a single second when _Envy_ changed to 👓 _Hughes._ 🔥
"More Tribbles, More Troubles" animation mistakes (I've heard that this was the first episode animated): 2:22 "Scotty" has a mustache. 7:06 I also recall that the turbolift door image was grossly misaligned with the turbolift location, but I don't see that is this snippet.
In Magics the idea of the Steady State universe is alluded to. It was still discussed as a possible explanation of the formation of the universe at the time. Eventually much more evidence was found for the Big Bang so the Steady State was discarded. The novelized version of this episode is much more detailed and interesting.
Yeah, The Tribble episode is basically the same story. kind of how a sequel movie is a re-tread of the original. Terminator 1 - 2 for example. yes T2 is better then T1 but they too are telling the same story. It a good TAS trek episode and they brought back actor Stanley Adams to voice Cyrano Jones so that in itself makes it pretty good. They're better sequel episodes coming up.
I figured you were going take issue with Lucien using the term "Elfin" while he was addressing Spock LOL! I also like how you said if you were in a magical universe you would quote be acting up . I guess its a good thing you don't have a Sling Ring or a Cloak of Levitation (don't worry its not a spolier these items have nothing to do with the Star Trek Universe )
Well done I’m glad somebody appreciated this episodes besides me I thought I was the only one like the Carter Winston episode you couldn’t do that in 70s tech you could with CGI but the tribbles episode that was great. I love to see the trembles and I think he said that after give him that shot and separate them separate tribbles , I think they are safe tribbles replicate I think, he said that was great. I think it was a to salute toSpocks brain spring most people didn’t like but I did yeah I think you’re right about that joke with Sulu because they are friends and I know they gave Walter something from McCoy putting his granddaddy pest control, and those bird plant, something for everybody many reasons why I love this series thanks for the fun until next time
Survivor was very similar to the tos episode The Man Trap. Still It on my top ten Tas episode list. How dare you, Court, not let us see your WTF face when McCoy mentioned having a daughter. D.C. Fontana created this character for Tos but she never appeared.
I liked the design of the Vendorian - something they could never do in live action at that time (or on their budget). My biggest complaint about "The Survivor" is the Vendorian becoming the deflector shield. Spock previously stated that he could assume any form of similar size and mass, but he then takes the form of an energy field larger than the starship and sustains Romulan disruptor fire without injury.
@@megalictis9002 yes. the Vendorian 'becoming' a deflector shield did seem weird. Did he go out of an airlock and transform yet again. When Spock was describing the capabilities of a Vendorian he should have included their ability to become defector shields.
The animated series gets heat for leaving out Chekov but they managed to bring the guest stars from the original series who played Jones and Mudd to reprise their roles in episodes that were sequels/follow up continuation of the characters in those episodes.

Yes! That scene is so good!
I used to go to conventions dressed as a giant tribble from this episode.
In "The Infinite Vulcan" I can't help wondering if Walter Koenig named the character "Kenicleus" figuring Shatner would mispronounce it "Keniculus".

Kirk was controlling the elements pretty well in that last ep. In that universe, he may very well be the Avatar.
