It's funny how he then proceeds to block more and even the part when he says "Now" he just blocks then steps back unnecesarily

I’m mildly impressed to see the animators actually tried to show the fight instead of making it a bunch of light effects and motion blur. I’d be interested to see more of this one if it continues in this manner.
Exactly, characters tping, doing flashy attacks and all is fun but fights with choreography like this where you can properly see every actions are for me my favorites
@@fracazer I might agree if they didn't use little fencing swords that shouldn't be able to take blows as they are. These weapons must weigh nothing.
This scene was great, it had a powerful aspect to it and the whole thing was well done.
You have such a good comment the official RUclips channel hearted it. Also, I totally agree.
Love the slow yet weighty feel of each sword clash with brief moments to show each character's nonverbal expression with the added quiet acknowledgement between the both of them at the end. The sounds of the attacks was a nice touch giving a different in sound depending on what the action was.

Except for the fact of how insane it actually is. They literally just met. We, the viewers, just met them. If this was a feud between old friends or enemies or even just two hyped up characters, then sure. This scene is ridiculous just like the entire show. You are braindead if you think this show has good writing or pacing.

I've been really happy with the anime so far. The staff put in a lot of work in it and I think it shows. If the next episodes are adapted right, I could see Reign of the Seven Spellblades becoming a bit more popular. I hope so too cuz this series is great 🔥

I'm surprised people are so critical . I've been enjoying it a lot. Good characters, nice setting and animation and at least the school is upfront about how dangerous the curriculum is.
yeah its so dangerous yet literally nobody seems to care... all the characters act like npcs. the characters themselves aren't bad its just the dialogue is so cheesy and unrealistic. the animation is the only upside to this anime
@@brandonlee3924 No, they do understand, its just that they know what they've signed up for by choosing to enter Kimberly, it isn't like the 20% number was a bombshell that the headmistress gave them during the opening ceremony. In this world, the pursuit and progress of magic is sought above all else and everything is a resource in pursuit of that, including human lives.
the 20% is stupid, they say 20% die, from what i've seen is the other way around, 20% are only left alive
Props to the sound and animation team. I prefer the slow weighty feel when the swords clash with good enough empathies on swords making contact either it be grinding against one another or it sliding against each other. You also get to see the character's fighting stance and nonverbal expression from the struggle of contesting the other attack to the quiet acknowledgement between fighters. Adds tension, purpose and weight to the attacks.
I like the occasional fast pace fights but when attacks end up being motion blur or light marks cause the two characters are too fast for others to witness it kind of losses its charm when it occurs repeatedly especially when skills are being thrown out left right front and center without any different variations or strategies with said skill.
Fr, the sound gave me chills, really liked it.
I still don't understand why this anime's being trashed on all the time. The animation alone is much clearer and more fluid in this fight scene and ESPECIALLY in the opening. One of J.C. Staff's better works, I might add.
It's because people don't really care about the animation if everything else is lacking.

@entity_176 I see why you and everyone would think that, but when you really think, this is the way the author and show builds up the story; right now, it starts off as a "Harry Potter-like" story with one-personality characters, but the story and its characters go much deeper into detail later on in the story, revealing the true plot points, and so on. It just has a slow build-up to the eventual plot revelation.
At least they're still alive. 🎉

This show is actually way better than even the trailer made it look, basically anime hogwarts but there’s a lot of really cool aspects to the show and it looks really good! I might pick up the light novel depending on how long the first season is.
I read the first four volumes of the light novels and I definitely recommend.
I really really love how my Reign of the Seven SpellBlades New Generation Dengeki Bunko Series is, the anime adaptation is perfect.

Other than an obvious animation error, I think a good way to headcanon it is that that’s the way he’s seeing his weapon. She’s got a lot more experience with her sword than his, so it’s kind of like bringing a knife to a sword fight sort of deal.
Pretty sure he's using a Shortsword while she's using something more akin to a Katana or just a longer sword. Different angles make his short sword look even shorter then it already it. But at the beginning scene at 0:06 you can see a major difference in the shape/craft of their swords.

Seriously, that Samurai girl needs to get her priorities in order here, in terms of NOT killing her Allies and everything!
you gonna understand she was brought up that way. She only knows wars and was taught fighting to the depth bring her happiness. Later on her friends trying to explained to her to change her way of living. To see Oliver as he is and not fighting with the sword to the death. Even Oliver himself wants that fight to the death. He trying to avoided them fighting again, but he can't avoid that forever. As much as I like this two ended up together as the LN pushes them that way and their connection destiny interwined together.Their romance will probably end in tragically. One of them will die.
I hope they both died and not let one live in dispair.

This combined w/ Nanao's fighting school's concept of Shiawase (i.e you pepsi your opponent or get pepsi'd by them w/o feeling hatred, only the love of the sword, is their highest form of "happiness") easily makes sense why she'd want to sudoku like that, given Oliver's hit triggers her feeling of this
"I shall fight her with everything I have and hold nothing back!"

Visually forgettable visuals, looks like it came out around the same time as Code Geass but with worse animation, plot seems like a worse version of absolute duo.

@@4shura__shuraHe's not inexperienced but rather not a one trick phoney. She's devoted to the blade. He uses sword and magic. Of course she's going to be slightly stronger in one area. Plus in the Light Novel she even states how much work he has put into his swordsmanship with the clash that they've had. And that's partly what made her fall in love.
