What you have to watch is initial soil compaction.Seed bed prep is critical for a high percentage of germination. If you ever find a 3pt landscape rake with gauge wheels, they work very well for trail cleaning and giving a loose texture to the top of the soil for seed prep like this. The box scraper, great tool for high to low application and spreading material also.Looks good,we are itching for rain here in southern Ontario.
Starting my 1100 mile drive to Vancouver Washington this morning, so I'm glad to start it off with your latest trail video. I think it's looking great! 😊 Thanks once again, Mike
your trail is perfect i'm very jealous that my trail don't look that clean and manicured my tractor is down now but when i get it going i'm going to fix my trails and i must say you are my inspiration i will send you before and after pictures thanks again mike for all you do big salute to you my friend
In Europe they have Silvo-pasture, or pastures in the woods. They might not have quite the canopy that you have but they still plant grasses that like shade and use them as pasture for cattle, though they can't leave the cattle on it as long as open pastures....good luck...we thinned out some wooded areas and planted a rye grass mix and have had good luck with it.
Curious as to why you didn't loosen the dirt with the disk harrow set shallow? It wouldn't hook the roots the way rippers do and loosen up a wider path.
On the guys giving you a hard time about renting the little excavator(oh the humanity!). Your money, your choice but more importantly your TIME! I've got: 10 tractors,a dozer,a crawler loader,a loader landscaper,2 backhoes ,a dump truck,a dump trailer,3 box blades, plows, discs, landlevelers, etc(still looking for an excavator) and if I need to plow I jump on the plow tractor,if I need to disc I jump on the disc tractor....Just used the loader landscaper saturday to pull stakes from 1 garden and spread 4 tons of compost. My money and my choice and the TIME I save is priceless.
Hi Mike, I’m learning a lot from your channel and appreciate your enthusiasm for what you do. Could you have done all of the trail work exclusively with an RK25?
Mike, good job as always; especially the finger snap attachment change. Kudos to your special effects department. But this brings me to my first of two suggestions. You need a quick hitch. I think 🤔 Harbor Freight sells a good version. RK might too. Makes it so much easier, just back up, lower the three point, raise and off you go. Next if you are going to use a box blade or land plane in both directions, you need a “top and tilt kit”. Makes using any implement that needs to be angled fore aft or left right a dream to use. The RK’s have the hydraulics to use it. Jeff
As usual another great video Mike. Been meaning to ask you about your tractors. Personally I prefer a hydrostatic transmission. The twin pedal are so fast and easy. I have been watching for a long time. When you showed the RK 37 I kind of winced and thought oh boy a manual........ However after watching you use all 3, 4 if you count the Kubota, I am beginning to think different of it. From the looks of it it’s the most used tractor for 3 point work, and woods work. I have similar property (not as much) and have two tractors. A sub compact with a loader backhoe and belly mower and a 75 horse with a shuttle shift and loader. Keeping brands out of the conversation. My 75 horse tractor is almost too big, it’s clumsy in the woods, some of that I equated to the transmission. However watching your videos that RK 37 with the manual looks handy, being a manual it’s surely getting more power to the ground therefore feeling like a stronger tractor I would guess? If you were personally buying a RK37 or another tractor this size would you go hydrostatic or manual? Just curious. Also speaking of land there is a piece of property that adjoins ours. The owner is asking more than its valued. However the climate we are in her in Michigan and especially the area the property is in it sadly will sell. If you have any thoughts or feelings on land, purchasing, to do or not to do, etc I think there are a lot of us that would enjoy your thoughts. I’m torn on the land next to me, it’s vacant land and would double the size of the property, it’s a nice piece of ground. They are willing to do a land contract, price is too high, but it would be perfect to add into our land like you guys did. Thanks for reading my ramblings. Cheers
Please keep us informed on how the grass is growing here an on the hillside that you cleared. Do you have fuel delivered for your filler tank or must you take it to a service station for filling?
If your seed mix works out , please let us know what type of blend it is. I have been looking for seed for my snowmobile trails with no luck so far. Thanks Russ
Eighty five degrees hot. Down here in Arkansas we would be thinking fall was setting in. LOL It was mid 90's here yesterday and more of the same today. Supposed to cool some mid week and rain. Heck it is August so the end of the heat is not that far away and we can tough it out. The trail looks good the grass should sprout and with some luck it might do well.
Another satisfying time lapse over coffee this morning thank you. How do you keep the camera steady is it a special set up? I need that system you use to change 3 point hitch attachments it was quick, wink
Any hard fescue should work well enough. However I recommend clover. Add fertilizer and lime as well. Although I say all of this my road washed due to an open winter.
You should patent that "Quick Snap Attachment System"! Also, I know equipment rental places rent entire machines, but do any of them rent just 3 point attachments? I know there might be issues with pto shaft length doing that, but things like blades or cultipackers that don't require a pto would be easy to rent. I don't think I've ever seen a place that rents 3 point attachments by themselves. Maybe I never looked hard enough. Sure would be nice for the guy that already has the tractor and just needs an attachment for a weekend project but doesn't want to buy and store one.
Nice job on the new trails. Just wondering if you plan on putting your fuel tank under cover when the weather starts to turn colder? Yours worked out so good I had to buy myself a couple 96 gallon for regular gas an a 50 gallon for diesel.
Hi Mike love the channel, but in the end of this video you fueled your tractor and it reminded me of something I been meaning to ask you. I have looked thru your vids trying to find the one about your fueling system and cant fine it but where did you get that tank with the hand pump.
Mike, I noticed you left Kubota for RK. I have a 3901 and my wife noticed me looking at the RK website after your video and said "so were getting a new tractor" I live in Morgantown and my closest dealer is Parkersburg WV. I believe. Kinda wondering why the change? I cant say that I have a problem with Kubota, however the price is substantially less. It does appear that RK is much narrow though. BTW the videos are great for people like us.
Rick Sovastion, the 3901 has treated me well, they are good tractors. As far as the RK 37 it's been a joy so far as well. I partnered with Rural King several months ago and am trying out 3 of their tractors and so far am very impressed. I have several videos on all this. You have some catching up to do! Lol
I've been looking at tractors and what they can do. Your channel is awesome. I really would like to know how much that quick change option (snap of the fingers) cost you!! Nice touch. Curious on the grass type selection for shade, that you will use. Of course I'm expecting a seed attachment for the tractor, but with the snap of the fingers, who knows what we the viewer will see!
Hot 85? That's our 4am low some days......NE Texas and last month we had a string of days at 106 with +50% humidity.Saturday wife and I were working on our chore list: only 98 with that dang +50% humidity again. It ain't a dry heat here. I would think that getting grass to establish this close to your winter is a big risk. Won't the roots freeze this coming winter?
Fall planting here in the Northeast is a common thing and works quite well because the grass gets a head start for the next spring and isn't stressed by the summer heat.
Great job again! I'm starting to see that RK37 is becoming your go to tractor!! The Kubota for sale yet?....😉 And that finger snap attachment changer is flat amazing!!
Bruce Ingram, yea just run it in with your ranger or even a make shift drag old bed spring or something. Anything to help get the seed in the soil a little bit
Like the snap of the fingers and a new piece of equipment is on the 3-point! I will be interested to see the grass growing. I have to mow my 3/4 mile trail, this year I did not get to mow it until this past week! Took me two days to get it done! I mow it with a John Deere riding lawn mower. All I can do for now, hopefully a tractor is in my future! Get done a lot quicker! Love the videos! Get me wanted to get started on my adventures in the woods!
No, they are made by TYM to RK's desired specifications. They seem to have additional standard features for less of a cost than typical TYM tractors. In other words they are great tractors for the money.
Unless , your road is going to come too close to BLM land. Then you better contact your Regional Bureau of Land Management director and check out what all the Federal restrictions, regulations, and requirements that will pretain to your situation and location. My dad who passed away in 92 at the age of 72 said, "I wished I would have bought it when they offered it, but the lease was still only a dollar at the time. Then they went nuts! And the offer was not on the table anymore."
Shaping Up Nicely You'll Get There!! 👍👊
“To Be Continued” ... that’s torturous! Like the old Batman & Robin episodes from my childhood. You’re killing me man!
Awesome trail videos. Have a productive day.
Just an awesome piece of property, great job on the trail.
Oh if only I could change three point implements like that ! Trail looks great.
Looking mighty good!
Nice job on the trail.
Looks really nice. Good luck with the seed.
Nothing like having the right equipment for the job.
Starting my 1100 mile drive to Vancouver Washington this morning, so I'm glad to start it off with your latest trail video.
I think it's looking great! 😊
Thanks once again, Mike
Safe Travels!
I've learned so much from your videos. Thanks so much!

Mike it want very well man love new roads .
The trail is looking good.
Love the box blade. I want one
Another great day at work.
It seems to be working pretty good Mike.....nice.
Hey Mike. It is always good to watch your videos again. U R a great teacher ;) THANKS
Looking really good!
Nothing like Cliff Hangers to grab ya! GHHAAA!! Oh ya, good deal on the grading on the path - turned out nice. . . Now how bout Part 2!
Looks great!
That looks like some beautiful septic drain field soil. Extremely hard to come by in my neck of the woods. Trails look great.
The trail is coming nice. Man I sure wish I could change implements in a snap like you can!!!!
a good job well done.
Looks great
Came out great

Looking good I think the seeds going to take
So, how did it grow? Would be nice to see the result. Planning to seed seed a small trail in my small forrest. Nice video by the way💪🏻

85 would fill good right now, in Alabama we have upper 90’s with 80 to 90% humidity and nice video
Hi Mike, I’m learning a lot from your channel and appreciate your enthusiasm for what you do.
Could you have done all of the trail work exclusively with an RK25?
Can't wait to see the belly mower in action on the RK24.
Mike, good job as always; especially the finger snap attachment change. Kudos to your special effects department. But this brings me to my first of two suggestions. You need a quick hitch. Nice transition at the end of the video - cheers
Hello, might try some net or hay to help hold it down
Penn state grass seed mix, I get all my material at Zanella Milling in West Sunbury Pa.
If your seed mix works out , please let us know what type of blend it is. I have been looking for seed for my snowmobile trails with no luck so far. Thanks Russ

That seed should take pretty good. Good looking soil for it to be in.
Looking great Mike! I need you out at my deer lease. LOL
Mike, are you going to seed with your hand crank unit, or rent a pull behind, or ...
hey ive noticed you have some beech trees on your property. do you ever burn that in your woodstove?
Another satisfying time lapse over coffee this morning thank you. How do you keep the camera steady is it a special set up? I need that system you use to change 3 point hitch attachments it was quick, wink

What about taking out some trees along the trail to let in light and planting clover?
Hi Mike love the channel, but in the end of this video you fueled your tractor and it reminded me of something I been meaning to ask you. I have looked thru your vids trying to find the one about your fueling system and cant fine it but where did you get that tank with the hand pump.
Loren Raines Video #175 “My fueling solutions” he goes over the fuel tank and fuel pump and where he bought it.
Where did you get the pallet forks for your carryall that you made last year for hauling firewood.
Rural King
Most places selling tractors should have them. TSC stores also sell them. Where you buy them depends on the price and quality.
Outdoors With The Morgans i looked at their weBsite and they are 350
Mike I have a question about the rk37. Does it use Def or have a DPF filter??
DPF
How many acres do you currently have?
Mike,
I noticed you left Kubota for RK. I have a 3901 and my wife noticed me looking at the RK website after your video and said "so were getting a new tractor" I live in Morgantown and my closest dealer is Parkersburg WV. I believe. Another fun video....
But it just ended to soon!
qeustion..the seed your using is it for cattle..or livestock..and if so whats the name of it...im strting todo the same..im west central west virginia
I would put some starter fertilizer down with the seed.
I've been looking at tractors and what they can do. Your channel is awesome. I really would like to know how much that quick change option (snap of the fingers) cost you!! Nice touch. looking great, someone may do some morning runs on there too
Love the finger snap! Gotta get me one of those! How did you angle the box blade then turn around? New shirt?
Are you going to hand spread your seed or use a ATV spreader? Are you concerned about water puddling at the end of your range?
I've had success with the buddy seeder- drive the Ranger with your buddy sitting in the back of the Ranger bed with a hand seeder.
Douglas Hingsbergen sounds great! Could be a job for my daughter ha
Hot 85? Bruce Ingram, yea just run it in with your ranger or even a make shift drag old bed spring or something. Anything to help get the seed in the soil a little bit
... or an eight-foot section of cyclone fencing makes a pretty good drag.
Yes you can grow grass in the woods
No fertilizer? All the trees look like about the same size do you know when it was last cut over.
Old Highway Engineer
Look at you getting fancy with the finger snap equipment swap. Lol. How long did it take to line the tractor back up for a smooth transition?
You're going to need to hedge cut a lot of non essential trees along that trail or a lot of fire wood so sunlight can get the floor
Some grass doesnt need sun
New Razor this morning?
RK37 DOES LOTS I'D CALL HIM HOUDINI
Like the snap of the fingers and a new piece of equipment is on the 3-point! I will be interested to see the grass growing. Mike, it looks great. Why do you want to spend the time and money on planting grass seed on your trail? Please help me understand this.
John Reinburg, it will help with erosion and after rains it should help keep it from getting and staying muddy
are the rk's just mahindras?
No, they are made by TYM to RK's desired specifications. They seem to have additional standard features for less of a cost than typical TYM tractors. In other words they are great tractors for the money.
9:50 😆
Mike, you should post the website to buy that finger snap, would make changing my 3 pt attachments much quicker. Great addition to the video.
