Saw this in Carnegie Hall. It was marvelous. Natalie had two vocal cord surgeries. She retired from the Metropolitan Opera shortly before this concert. I wish I had discovered her when she was still at the Met. She is a GREAT artist.

Yeah the last high note was a big agressive, this is mainly due to her attack of the sound on the beginning of the vocalization at 4:53. She pushes the first note too much and it gives the feeling that she screams. But the rest is without any failure.

What are you talking about 'once great' for? Her control over her dynamics is unchanged, and the middle of the voice is warmer and richer than it ever was. Moreover, her high notes are still phenomenally well produced - they're just no longer able to float. It's simply aging - her voice is getting older, and she's adapting very well.
I agree. It is mostly beautifully sung until the C #. Then she misses the pitch (flat and blown out) at the climax. Still her voice retains some of the gem-like quality from her youth, and the voice is still interesting.

She's fabulous, absolutely. However that dress is swallowing her........when you're a world-famous Soprano signing a masterpiece, you should dress beautifully but subtly. That one is competing for attention from the Vocalise.

It is quite natural for coloratura sopranos... After 40 their voices fade very quickly... Even Dessay cannot overcome the nature...

Its not age, she abused her voice a lot. Gruberova did yet sing well in her sixties, not abusing her voice.

I was at that concert. The dress was not at all distracting. The concert was the pure masterpiece and the best singing I have ever heard...
