So sad how studios would rather never air shows, just to not pay residuals. The fans should be #1 focus, not shareholders. I'm with Sag-Aftra and support the strike, and continue to picket when I can. Hope this gets resolved soon.
The actors accepted a job to act in a movie or show for a agreed wage, they both accepted the contract prior. If they didn't negotiate residuals before hand that's their fault, they agreed to do a job for a payment, they did said job and received the agreed payment, case closed. You pay a painter to paint your house, do you need to pay him residuals because you lived in the house for years after that? Do landscapers that do work for restaurants deserve a portion of the money the restaurant earns or do they just get paid their agreed upon rate to do the job. If the restaurant suddenly becomes more popular and the owners are making more money are they obligated to pay the landscapers more or pay residuals to the construction company that built the building they're in?
It didn't really exist back then. Netflix was relatively new, like You Tube. You couldn't make money of You Tube in the beginning either.
Your examples have nothing to do with the entertainment industry. Contracts get updated every few years, so we're on strike now to fix the mess.

Only scumbags and losers side with the studios.
With all the cancellations/purges its CEO did for several shows I had just found and fell in love with, Netflix no longer deserves my enthusiasm. Why should I get excited for a show when there's great odds it'll be cancelled before its time?
Absolutely..i have stopped watching any show untill its story is complete !! No point investing time into anseries only to know that these streaming services simply cancel it.
Let's all be real here okay. Henry Cavill is the only actor that could possibly even play Geralt. Then after three seasons with him, who is even gonna believe that Liam Hemsworth would even convince he is Geralt. How will they even explain the complete body type and face change? It's dead since the very first day Henry Cavill quit.
With his knowledge & respect for the source material, I’d watch a Liam Hemsworth Witcher with Cavill running the show/being final decision.
Henry’s leaving the show, but the crap team of writers, directors & producers who dislike the source materials have been driving the show from Cavill/Geralt basically from day 1.
The Duffer Brothers already said like a year ago that season 5 of Stranger Things will start with a significant time gap from season 4, they've already planned the actors growth
The time gap doesn't really make sense given how season 4 ended. Are we supposed to believe that they all just took a break from fighting against the upside down after it ravages their town and started doing other things instead? Even if they say they are planning for it, it does kind of causes a lot of skepticism from its fanbase. Hopefully they think of something clever to make it all make sense though...
Honestly don't care about the cast of a series aging between seasons. So Stranger Things is in no trouble what so ever Imho. And most people probably won't care as long as the story is strong.
Agreed, no one will care! Puberty happens in HS, so it's realistic that they look different!
Too bad the story has never been strong
@@DrMario_666 it's a cheesy 80s action flick 😅 I think it was alright for the time but yeah it's nothing spectacular.
The creators have claimed this is last season of stranger things
The WGA STRIKE is gonna get a hell of a lot worse before it gets any better.
They can stay on strike forever for all the good it's going to do them.
I’d be super happy with the studio hiring scabs and breaking that shit union
Good
I’m hoping season 4 of Snowpiercer will find a home somewhere. As for the others, let’s wait and see how doomed they really are. Also, instead of spending money on The Citadel, Amazon should that money for benefits for their workers.
Unreal that it's just finished, out there, floating in the aether, as a tax break, and nobody gets to watch it. What a joke.
The writer were offered stock options like every other employee. They choose to strike because they want to be paid before anyone else. Viewership based residuals.
Maybe the workers should improve the quality of their work in an effort to improve their bargaining position
Snow Piercer was so sick I wish it didn’t get canned 😭😭
@@levig6238 that's an AWFUL take. Don't be a bootlicker, stop siding with the billionaires, you'll never be one.
The Percy Jackson Series is something i am a big fan of and seeing it get bogged down by Disney's current state and having age-appropriate cast for the first season but that'll only suffer in the long run, i feel deeply disappointed in that news.
I'm worried about The Boys. Recently announced to be delayed indefinitely even though all filming is complete. Hopefully just for small reshoots with different dialogue after the strikes are over.
That probably has less to do with any issues with the show and amazon wanting the actors available to do promotions. its why so many finished movies are also being delayed.
@@Poormrworryno its cause they dont wanna pay the fucking writers so they plan on stretching the finished things they already have to last them for yrs
@@rummyz6412 no I think they would have released the show on time if they could have had the actors to promote it. Amazon already paid the writers for the show. They don’t plan to negotiate to give them more money but season 4 is done. It’s about immediate profit. The actors strike has made releasing finished projects a bad decision because there can be no promotion.
With two strikes happening at the same time corporate is dealing with their primary goal of never paying writers and always saving money by holding back projects that can’t be promoted. It’s why dune 2 got delayed. It’s done but no actors can promote it. Imagine if the SAG strike started in January and none of the actors in the Barbie movie could do any videos or interviews or promotions to help build up hype. That movie may not have made the money it did.
@@Poormrworry youre rlly putting a lot on promotion when studios and businesses have done that forever without actors an shit, their definite plan is long run waiting it out and spreading the releases so they dont have to pay the writers till the writers cant strike any longer, why would they wait for a few actors to promote their shows? They pay streaming services and get ad time to do just that, they dont need actors tweeting abt it 😭😭
@@rummyz6412 No, the issue is re-recording lines that were either muted by on-set noise or changed by post-shooting rewrites. They need the actors & writers for that, and both are unavailable until the strike ends.
The last 2 being both Netflix shows doesn't surprise me, Cahill also left because of the showrunners not following the books properly, there's been issues on the Wednesday set with them not doing things the character would actually do, and Avatar being creative differences sounds like more of the same. Then they call the people upset about it nerds and divas for caring about the characters and universe. Fuck Netflix
I didn't even know Snowpiercer was still going. Watched most of season 1 then forgot about it
You are better than me...I couldn't even get through the first season.
Surprised to not see Superman and Lois season 4 here.
I love Snowpiercer. And I’m one of the few who DID like Avatar the last airbender. Wanted so bad for them to continue the series
Amazing video Adam from what culture tv,fantastic tv. Give me a little worried how Disney would mess up Percy Jackson series, like they with the willow series too.
Really hoping Season 5 of Stranger Things works out. Definitely one of the best shows of the modern era and I really want it to end on a high note and stick its landing.
I thought Echo was the weakest part of Hawkeye. Hailee Steinfeld, OTOH, totally rocks.
They even did kingpin dirty, just to prop these (Echo) characters.
Apparently they were going to do a Batgirl to Echo but were so worried about the backlash they have decided against it. Am hoping that having Daredevil and Kingpin in this will at least make it watchable
ANYTHING and EVERYTHING is doomed in a strike, one way or another
Alot of actors in their 20s play high schoolers, so tat wont be problem for stranger Things cast
There's no needed for snowpiercer s4
I dont want euphoria s3
I want to see echo series but not agatha series
Citadel is worse mummy remake movie. It has already set up a universe
Agree with last 2
“Yerrr” “next yerrrrr” “it will be releasing next yerrrr.”
I can't wait for the continuation of "Severance" and would still watch it with great interest after however many years. It's a similar story with "Snowpiercer". Though I hope that the fourth season will be the last one before they stretch the original story too thin.
Anything that's a remake/reboot is doomed. No one seems to learn from the past.
I would love to see Snowpiercer season 4 and I’m looking forward to the avatar live action which can’t be worse than the movie we don’t talk about or acknowledge it’s existence
I was wondering what was taking severance so long to release the second season. That first season was so good idc how long I got to wait I’ll check out the second when it releases for sure
Man, without Angus Cloud, Euphoria seems even more doomed 😞
not true if you don't finish high school in you late teens they can't legally kick you out until your 22 yrs. old and its fairly common for actors in their 20s to play teenage kids just look at movies like Grease or Pretty In Pink as examples Jon Cryer was age 20 when he played his role in Pretty In Pink while John Travolta was age 23 when he played Danny Z in the film adaptation of Grease filmed between June 27th 77 and Sept 14th 1977 & released June 16th 1978 the slumber party scene was filmed on August 16th 1977
It’s videos like this that doom shows/movies fail before they are released.
Which of these seasons are you most looking forward to?
Aren't all shows doomed due to the strike???
the indie business is booming right now.
No
Most shows but some more than others just based on the pattern and story . Even writers can’t save the Witcher at this point
No, all shows are having their production delayed. Big difference. Some of those shows will turn out fine, some are going to be garbage trash.
@@TheSquad4life the writers are the ones who destroyed it.
Also Angus Cloud died July 31, 2023. I fear that Paula Marshall's Marsha Jacobs will be killed off to cut costs. Paula has been a favorite of mine for at least a quarter of a century (Euphoria)
What the fuck are you talking about?!? These are the most popular or the most anticipated shows coming out! I'll def be watching them.
Season 2 of Yellowjackets was def a big step down from the first one. Had really high hopes for that show. After Saul and Barry ended theres not much on tv these days that i was really excited about beside YJ and i was very bummed
Check out the first season of severance. It’s so good, that and the first season of YJ where my two favorite shows at the time
Echo could easily be better than Secret Invasion after that bland finale.
Liam Hemsworth? He isn’t a box office draw at all. His career is pretty much non existent . He’s not a good actor. The Witcher fans are going to dislike him trust
Look, if we could get over the ages in S4 then S5 of stranger things is going to be fine
Classic television has done the same thing, especially since they're running out of ideas. Such as "I Love Lucy," "The Lucy Show"
and finally, "Here's Lucy." And after "Here's Lucy" was cancelled in March of 1974, many others were already cancelled
after many great seasons such as "NCIS: LA," "Mom," "House of Payne," "Dynasty" among others.
What about Rings Of Power??🤔
That sucked before the strike
.....its times like these that you relies ........i dont watch tv anymore as ive not watched any of that stuff
Can't speak to the end product, but production issues on Echo have been greatly exaggerated. Always funny to hear these reports
I hope Stranger Things doesn't go full Game of Thrones. The Duffer Brothers have managed this well so far, and coped with pandemics without a drop of the quality. If it ends well, this could be one of the the most satisfying and complete storylines in recent years.
The one I'm most bummed about is Severance. I suppose it was too good/original to last.
Who's the thumbnail girl?
Lessons to be learned...1. Pay your staff properly 2. Pay your staff properly!!!!! (Seiously, this isn't hard) 3. Pick your creative head and stick with it. A mediocre okay is better than a jumbled shit show 4. Don't take creative notes from studio execs, especially warner brothers. 5. Stop spending insane amounts of money on these. Example...Indy 5 is fine. It's a flop because it's expensive.
If the staff doesn’t produce a product that meets or exceeds expectation, should they surrender back compensation?
@@levig6238 First I would ask why aren't they meeting expectations? As far as crew goes(makeup, cgi etc...) I believe in the vast majority of circumstances they aren't meeting expectations because the studio isn't allowing them to meet expectations. If you force them to rush and don't pay them properly you're gonna get a shit product. That is on the studio.
Actors, I don't know. I mean you can have bad actors of course. But again, I think in the vast majority of cases it's out of their hands. After re-shoots, editing etc..., what they do on the day and what we see may be worlds apart.
Overall staff should never have to surrender back compensation in this case. "Real world" it could be different for sure. But movie studios have the money to pay these people. They give out massive salaries and bonuses to execs and a handful of movie stars and then tell everyone else the movie bombed so we can't pay you. It's obviously bullshit. They use Hollywood accounting as a veil to steal these people's money because the people at the top are greedy. Plain and simple. They don't do anything to earn or deserve that money most of the time. They get paid because they can. That is what I believe.
I notice you left EPIC channel's show FROM Season 3 off the list. Season One of FROM was good. Season Two was just a mess and I heard there will be a Season Three but with the way Season Two ended, I doubt there will be a Season Four.
I was genuinely concerned and hoping Cobra Kai wouldn't be on this list. Thankfully it isn't
Unfortunately it’s dealing with the same issues. Writing was stopped, they aren’t even near the filming stages yet and the actors aren’t getting any younger
@@sharebear421wrong. They had it filmed since last year. It’s done. The final season is coming sept. They announced it like a year ago. Lmao.
@@957kakashi no it’s not lol they were literally writing it and it’s on halt. No scenes have been filmed yet you can google it
Who else had no idea that Snowpiercer was a TV series?
Yellowjackets is CRAZY!
Not worried at all about Stranger Things… A time jump was already planned, so it should not be too difficult for great writers to make any necessary changes.
Season 5 of Stranger Things has the ability to be absolutely insanely awesome! Here’s Hoping!
On Stranger Things? They have like 6 hours. Millie looks like an adult now.
. High end productions are ALWAYS going to interfere with age
Stranger things will be just fine. But it’s confusing because one video you guys are praising the show, next video you are pointing out all of the issues.
Please pick a lane.
I have either not heard of half of these shows or scrolled right past the rest when looking for something to watch, except for Stranger Things
For Percy Jackson, I do think it’ll take a while between seasons but we can possibly see it as they’re Demi gods so obviously they’d look quite developed for their age?
The amptp needs to stop stonewalling and pay their crews
I refuse to believe that Percy Jackson and the Olympians is doomed. With the author working on the show, it has to be a hit with fans
Hes a writer, i doubt hes working rn, theyre all striking. For good reason
Stranger Things - Fans really want to see the story concluded, even if that means having to ignore the fact that the actors have visibly aged. We'd rather have the story finished properly, than to see the writers twist it into something different just to explain why the actors look different. Fans accepted than the actors were older than their characters in season 4, they'll accept the change in their ages for season 5.
It's a good thing I don't care about any of these shows
where is the thumbnail?
I liked showpiecer too and am sad that they shelved an entire season of the show to save money. but thats Hollywood
Citadel wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t too good either. It was meh at best. If left me with no desire to see more.
Secret Invasion was the first time in 45 years I didn't give an eff about Sam Jackson. i even cared about him in his terrible shark movie
I think avatar is doomed. Plus also, I’ve already left the Witcher I didn’t even start season two. I love season one.
I don't understand why they keep trying to make Avatar live action.
Amusing that WhatCulture won't even mention the obvious problem with "The Witcher"--Cavill made it clear that the writers & showrunners could not care less about established lore in the books, and keep going out of their way to trash and ridicule it. He was the only one there who cared about sticking to the lore, and got tired of being attacked for doing so.
Thumbnail sauce?
Some things aint cut out for tv
Wasn't Season Three of Euphoria already filmed?
Some animated shows should never be made into live action. Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of those. If they want to remake it they should do an updated animated version with current computer animation technology.
I still have faith in Stranger Things.
The Witcher however, I'm done as soon as Henry Cavill is. Not only is Liam not as good of an actor, he's also not as good looking. He won't be a believable Geralt in my eyes. Nope.
You're kidding me right? YJ ssn 2 was amazing, the death was great, people are crazy
You can't keep blaming a strike for the formulaic, generic, juvenile garbage that studios spew on to our screens. Maybe they should start making thought provoking, grown up programs for people with IQs greater than their shoe size. (I'm not holding my breath).
@1:41
Thanks to the SAG/AFTRA strike, all tv shows and movies on every release platform are doomed...
Stranger things S5 was already filmed due to the quick growing of the teens. I thought 🙃
take percy jackson off this list. the fans of the book series, which is massive fan base, will watch this series. also, the author is 100% involved in production, and he has stated his comittment to a faithful adaptation. the reasons this video gives for it being worrysome are ridiculous.
Finally Echo might die, glad it's gonna fail
The New Adventures of Monkey King? - Netflix
Come on! No DOOM Patrol?
I’m glad I’m too old to give a damn about whiney teenage angst.
Is the Thumbnail from Euphoria?
Yes.
there is nothing on for the last 2 years that have been worth a crap
Yeah, it may be time to give up on Stranger Things. These kids will be in College by the time all this crap passes.
I'm here for Hollywood collapse and it's glorious
Stranger Things, consistently going downhill. This is when writers got so much going on that they dont know how to keep or end the show amazingly.
Citadel lacks a captivating plot, it's a regurgitated spy story with nothing new. Plus they trashed Princess Catherine of Wales just because the female lead is friends with megain marckle. Completely unprofessional.
@anaiboa
There are way better action spy thriller shows than the Citadel.
@@NaquanGreen-zt4gr Like?
tl;dr The much needed writers strike is affecting all the shows.
I don't give a rat's backside about any of these shows except Severance. If we don't get a good Season 2 SOMEONE WILL PAY. Side thought: if the workplace is toxic at a show about a toxic workplace, might that actually help in an odd way? Like, "Oh, I can totally use the way X was being an a-hole to me in this next scene." I dunno.
How could you make this video without the all female director show season 2 Rings of power.
Rings of Power, Rick & Morty, Wheel of Time are all gonna suck
Rick and Morty series seven without Justin Roiland,?
Show was never good
But it’ll continue just fine without him.
He barely did shit
When I comes down to it... don't screw over the writers and ffs Henry Cavil continues to get f'd over by studios and streaming services because they're idiots. He's not just a pretty face/jacked action hero etc... deep down he is a guy who nerds out on something and wants to produce and/or star in something he really enjoys, and certain universes he wants to stick with the source material because he knows it's stellar. Companies need to stfu and let the talent... writers or actors... do their thing and stop being so GD controlling.
I actually enjoyed season 4 of the witcher.
I gave up on Stranger Things
Citadel was so bad I'm shocked they making a second season
Dont you dare speak ill of percy jackson
God this video was so miserable and pessimistic 😢
You forgot about Lord of the Rings- Rings of Power season two
It really doesn't help when The Witcher showrunner just released an article explicitly stating that she used the show to advance her personal agenda and not make a good product.
I'm actually looking forward for the Echo series.
