  • It was requested that I'd cover the solo from the Stand Up demo and since I'm still not 100% sure its an actual Def Leppard demo I thought I'd throw in another Steve solo from the When Love and Hate Collide demo.
    I had to make my own backing tracks since I do not have these demos in decent quality.

      Chris His Dad was the reason Steve drank. Fuck that bastard. He gave Steve more reason to drink after Steve left rehab the first time, what a father figure.

    Just stumbled on this, and it's absolutely amazing. I find the Stand up solo hauntingly beautiful, filled with emotional depth and spine-tingling melody. Given when Steve probably composed this, I wonder how much this piece reflects the inner turmoil and suffering he must have of been going through at the time.

    God bless you! You do Steve a great honor by doing Steves' solos real justice.....
    There's a hand full of us that keep Steve alive in our hearts, I've always been impressed with you and your love of Def Leppard. I myself am a big fan and in the band I'm in (Euphoria's Dragon)TM. have built our sound around Leppard's Steve/Phil sound in all of our original songs. One thing that Leppard's gotten away from is Steve's use of "harmony chords", and we do a lot of that in our backing tracks. back in the 80's when I started playing guitar a lot of guys were inspired by Van Halen Eruption, what made me wanna play like Steve was his solo in "Armageddon It". It was just so different, it had this Scottish/Irish sound to me and I've never heard anyone but Steve write like that. Even with a Firebird, most guys do bluesy stuff, but not Steve. If ya get a chance go to my bands FB page and add us, I'd really respect your opinion on our stuff. Right now we're in the studio recording a 2 CD set of songs. The album will most likely (if we're lucky) sound more like Pyromania than Hysteria or Adrinalize because we're using Marshall JVM and DSL 100 amps with 1960 cabs and sure 57 mics. But the albums coming along pretty well, but it's not ready for me to mix it. The songs that our on our FB are the demos. My son is our drummer and to keep the Leppard sound he uses Simmons electric kits, and he's all about Rick Allen. Anyway, thanks for helping keep Steve with us! I miss that guy so much.....

      Thanks for the kind words! I'll have a look and listen when I get a chance! I released an EP a little while ago with some 'Lep Sounding' songs under the name Super Monaco but you can find the vids for that under this channel. Have a listen if you get a chance. :)

    • @tragedi25
      @tragedi25 6 лет назад

      Yeah I'll do that, I'd love to hear your take on their sound. If ya do get a chance to hear anything by us please listen to the song names "Goodbye". I've rewritten the lyrics and the name of the song will change, but it's our "Animal" type thing with tons of layered guitars with the harmony chords in the chorus. At the end of the song the 3 guitar track cuts out for 4 bars and ya can really hear the texture of the chords. I'm gonna find your stuff right now and after I've listened to it several times to soak it in I'll leave feedback for ya. Please don't think that is a delay or lack of care, I just like to really examen things so I give it the thought that your work deserves. Keep rockin!

    For some reason i have just thought that it is a real Steve Clark demo solo. But isnt the quality of it so great that had it been real it would have been on the album? Maybe the lenght of it made it difficult to fit on the song and album?

Absolutely gutted when he died and still grieve and miss him till this day. All due credit to the Leps for keeping going after all these years considering everything the band has been through. .but for me, they were never the same again after Steve passed away. .He was the heart and soul of that band and wrote over 90% of their musicand lyrics..Just so glad I saw them twice on their brilliant Hysteria tour...RIP White Lightning! 💘💘❤❤❤😢😢😢🎸🎸🎸

    • @ilovesteveclark6084
      @ilovesteveclark6084 6 лет назад

      bwm5150, Adrenalize.....Steve wrote 6 demos for that album while they were on the Hysteria Tour. After he died, Mutt scrapped them all, as if they were of no use and had no musical value. I always wonder why portions of Steve's playing from those demos was not included on any of the songs? Mutt seemed to have been such a master-magician, surely he could've done that. But instead he had Phil RE-DO all of Steve's playing, INCLUDING COMPLETED PARTS? And then I ask myself why didn't the band want any of Steve's playing included on the album? Why? Were they afraid to go over Mutt's head? Mutt might as well of spit on Steve's grave.

    • @ilovesteveclark6084
      @ilovesteveclark6084 6 лет назад

      bwm5150, here's something I think you'd be interested in reading: it is VERY SAD.
      This is from a story Mick Wall wrote about his memories of Steve:
      "We were talking one night after a show in Boston on the Hysteria tour, and he began to bemoan the fact that Leppard producer (and co-songwriter) "Mutt" Lange invariably preferred to use Phil Collen for most of the guitar parts when the band was recording. "I'm not saying I didn't play on Hysteria," he told me shakily, but there was a lot of waiting around with nothing but time on his hands, he said. "I drank more out of boredom."
      So, that answered the question for me as to why I've seen and heard so many people say that after they had seen them perform live on the Hysteria Tour, they couldn't believe how bad the album sounded compared to it. One guy said it made the album sound like s**t. Another guy said he went to the concert, and during it he kept thinking I wish the album sounded this good.
      Poor sweet Steve. And damn Matt Lange. How dare he belittle and humiliate Steve like that? And he saw that the more time he had Phil play, the more drinking Steve would do, and that gave Mutt more of an excuse not to use Steve. It's never been a secret that Mutt did NOT like Steve. Rumours would go around that Mutt felt intimidated by Steve's talent of composing, writing, orchestrating, etc...and his constant new ideas he would come up with...and then Steve became very fearful to speak up in the studio because Mutt always acted indifferent to Steve's ideas, but the band would like them, and so Mutt's resentment towards Steve grew bigger and bigger.
      He wanted Joe to fire Steve but Joe refused.

    Hey, do you mind sharing the stats on this video? Although I love the WLAHC demo solo, I mainly just watch/listen to the Stand Up solo here. There something magical with it.

    Can you play the whole song Stand Up with the solo so we know what it's more like?
    Some for When Love and Hate Collide.

      This is a cover of the short demo that's floating around, I do have covers of the actual full song as it is on Adrenalize. I only added the Love & Hate Collide bit to compare as at the time I wasn't sure the Stand Up demo was legit.

      +bwm5150 Was Steve not already dead when "When Love And Hate Collide" was written?

      +Andy McKinney WLAHC was originally demo'd in 1990.

      +bwm5150 I did not know that! Thanks. The guys are coming back to Belfast next month and I will probably go as I love the new album but begrudge having to endure Whitesnake first.

    Is there a recording of this from the Adrenalize sessions where the extended solo was incorporated into the song? Wondering if it was the B-side to another single in UK as I'm not aware of anything like this here. I was hoping for something like this on the 2nd part of the box set, but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case per the RBF.

      I don't believe so. If it wasn't for Phil confirming that the little clip was real, then I would still be questioning whether it was actually legit. Doesn't make sense where it comes from and why there's only a little portion of it.

      Thanks for the response, I figured you would know if such existed. At least we have this beautiful demo, and now, your awesome cover. Such beautiful clean tones on this. I could listen to this 100 straight times and not get sick of it! Oh wait, was that too much hyperbole??! ;-)@@bwm5150

    Great job Steve was the tone of the band not those distortion heads they have now I saw them in Baltimore in 1987 they sounded awesome then in 1991 in Dc with Vivian all it was a bunch of distortion
