When my daughters were young we used to go out on the porch when there was a rain storm or a thunder storm and get under blankets and experience Nature! They Loved it! One of them now lives in Norway and absolutely loves hiking and camping in the mountains!

Other than the sound of my daughter in my arms just after being born, I don't think there's a sound as beautiful and wondrous as that of rain hitting the top of my tarp. I sleep so well during a rain or snow storm. I love that you do not drown out (no pun intended) the sounds of nature with music or other sound effects. It's annoying watching a video and music destroys the ambiance that only nature provides. Thank you, Erik, for your great productions.

Whatching your video while sitting comfortly dry and warm in front of the PC monitor + listening to the sound of falling rain indoors in one thing - going out and experiencing the same thing is an other.

Rainy day hikes in the forest are the best. Bringing a tarp along is a great idea, as it gives you a temporary shelter to take breaks under. In my experience the only down side is cleaning up and drying off all of your gear when you get home.

The sound gets me the place where I used to take a shelter from the rain when I was 10 years old boy.
There was no internet, no mobile phone, no expensive camping gears but we were happy with the only sound of the rain.

Age and health issues caused me to slow down my outback experiences. Still have to pass knowledge on to my grandkids. Dont want outdoor life to be forgotten. Stay safe out there in the woods and mountains.

Thanks to hearty souls like you who actually publish your adventures, we have a solid archive of wood lore that actually works. As a kid growing up I'd read tips about survival and living outdoors that I now know were written by some guy siting on his ass in a New York office having his morning coffee and donuts just writing filler pieces for a nickel a word.

Like your videos because you do not speak too much, only when needed, and you do (mostly) not add music to your videos but lets us enjoy the sounds of nature.

Many, many float trips, using the inflatable boat for a bed. You need a tarp to keep off the dew that occurs about 4 am. If you are up on a side hill, its not so much a concern but down in a canyon you are at the lowest point in the topography and you need a shelter or you end up in your own private puddle. My tarps are rip stop nylon, about 9x10 feet with corded loops attached with zig-zag loops. The pot with a lid is a must for noodles with pepperoni, jerky, boullion and dried onion. You will find that boiled dinner is best for a good sleep and regular bowels.
