I was 14 at the time and I remember Cantona getting so much flak for the 'seaguls and trawler' press conference and I never understood why. He made perfect sense.
    EC is a legend.

Eric was far too intellectual for the English press. It's sad that the press couldn't see that Eric was mocking them and summing up the sad state of the situation and press conference. Pure genius, shame the players of today nod their heads and give the press what they want.

I listened with intrest as always to the enigma that is Eric Cantona. When Joe suggested to Eric that as a public figure he should be careful what he speaks about. In this instance politics. It is an urban gagging order put out by the powers to implant this into popular and public figures . They are affraid that people will get together and form opinions that go against the systems narrative . As Eric says ,public debate is important and very powerful and should be encouraged. What an outstanding human being , Eric Cantona .

Even better to see O'Brien unable to bully Eric by trying to talk over him like he does when he belittles any one that dare disagree with his political views when he's hiding behind his Mic in his Lbc studio. Eric so right about borders. They have been arbitrarily set up over time. Don't mean anything really but some people put so much importance in them.
Never a real fan of Eric as a player because I love Liverpool but always grudgingly respected him because he lived in a normal semi detached house whilst playing football and did not flaunt his wealth. Remember seeing him lose in semi final against Dortmund and the impression I got at final whistle was that was when I decided to retire.

I really enjoyed hearing Eric speak, however, thought the interviewer was quite meek in that he tried to agree on everything Eric said and didn't really challenge him at all. I like many of Joe's other interviews, but here I just think he tried to please the guest and fell out of is own identity rather than just be himself and expand on the moment as it was spoke. Would loved to have heard some of Eric's travelling tales.

Instead of electing politicians into leadership positions, let’s put our nations favourite footballers in charge. So we could have:
    GB - Lineaker
    FR - Cantona
    NL - Cruyff
    DE - Beckenbaur
    IT - Pier Luigi Collina
IR - Roy Keane (you know it makes sense)
    UK - Savchenko
AR - Maradonna(?) anyone but Ardilles
    BR - Pele
After that I’m struggling, any suggestions?
