Each time - different months, different years, I listen to this, it unfolds in a different way. I love the part where Deepak Chopra differentiates between self-esteem and being in love with the ego. Self-esteem, to me, has to do with managing to connect to a higher power, the bigger "Self" nourishes your self-esteem. Ego, is like an ingrown toe-nail. It grows, but in the wrong direction.
I had this "Audio" in a 3 cassette series close to 20 years ago. I loved it then, and I'm grateful that I found this audio now. I get to share it with my son. LOVE IT!!! Thanks for putting this up. Hugs from Dallas..
A mosaic of brilliant and poetic wisdom seekers with narrative that transcends - the typical. Love the reference to the 2nd Commandment: "Love our neighbor as ourselves" (seeing who we are in the outside of ourselves where we love can love ourselves, and each other too). “Geniuses are just people who had good mothers.” R. Buckminster Fuller. "If we truly feel love, we don't feel rejection." Bernie Siegel. Give ourselves over to something greater - called life, David Whyte. Pain is normal to life to understand pleasure. Attachment to pain is suffering, Deepak Chopra. Discover our foolishness, our ignorance, a lowering of expectation (not knowing), being real with feelings of inferiority, to develop our soul. Thomas Moore
I want to thank whoever uploaded this video thank you so much I have watched this video maybe a hundred times, I just love it so much, it resonates so deeply with me and comforts me #Thankyou
Glad I found this again...We need the rest ...Looks like I'm not the only one returning to this Piece!..I actually have both tapes...now I need to find a cassette player!
Also, to add to that, what helped me finally find myself at he age of forty was finding my shadow, like Jung talked about, because I was taught to be egoless, perfect and without sin, in an eastern philosophy way, and it was really unhealthy. This is addressed to Chopra. Thanks for letting me share. I like the video.
I also agree, from having been a teacher, and being a mother, and having hated school in the deep south where I grew up, Marianne, you are right about school...
Hi Sage, Enjoyed your many insightful comments. I'm from the West, for generations uncountable, and also have issues w/ Western reductionist thinking. Eastern or Western philosophy & worldviews are seldom ever perfectly realized. Both are manipulated... for a varity of reasons. It is great to find a thought-provoking presentation, eh? Best wishes. >^.^<
The Quest Series was one of the best series PBS ever had. . I would like to see them rerun it or to see Oprah pick it up for her Super Soul Sunday Series.
Hi there. Definitely Depaak Chopra is one of the great masters of personal development. Deepak achieves that perfect combination, being spiritual and corporal, he teaches us to achieve a perfect balance between body and spirit. His course and seminars are fantastic. I congratulate you for uploading this video. And I invite you to my channel where I have the video of the final year of Deepak Chopra and other interesting videos. Hugs. Darian
Thought creates emotions; if you want different change how and what you think and the emotions created by what you think. It's all energy, thought is energy emotion is the bi-product of thought. Energy creating energy creating energy. Thought energy creates the energy that we predominatly become ourselves.
Kefalonia2004 posted this. S/he has no others on his collection. I did videocopy them when they ran. . at this time, I do not know if I still have them. Our library had them, but they disappeared.:{
You might look at quest for successtv com I am not clear if it is still active. . . I've kind of muddled around trying to find who the guests were. I just sent Oprah a request to put it on own for her supersoul series. . Lili Fournier Zolar Entertainment put the quest series together - introducing us to David Whyte, John O'Donohue and many others.
uh huh.... the ego's law: search and NEVER find.. And how IS and how WILL, that "what's in it for me me me?" world werkin for you in Kali Yuga, hell, in which ALL morality falls, in which the very word agape is changed to the wide open mouth, in which the massive guilt for all of the wrongs done, are repressed, denied or projected out in scapegoating... so completely, that the world goes quite mad indeed. How did dishonesty and selfishness work in the end? it made hell on earth, now didn't it?
7-2-2013 ~ "When man found the mirror he began to lose hit soul." We need to trust our soul. The soul has the potential to know our true self better than the mortal mind. If the soul is eternal ('if' allowing the possibility of error) then the soul knows us better than our surface conscious mind. Maybe much of this soulful knowingness actually originates from our subconscious where it has been dwelling all along. We should try not to confuse image with substance. Namaste! @Peta_de_Aztlan
Hi! My interpretation of this quote is: For "Nothing real cannot be threatened" - You don't have to defend yourself or anything that truly matters in your life, to anyone or anything... Because it cannot be threatened. Like unconditional love. It can also mean you don't have to prove yourself to anyone. For "Nothing unreal exists" - Things like gossip, power struggles, hatred, rejection, are all an illusion so you don't have to give it the power of your attention. To keep this in awareness is having faith in your soul, God, or in whatever higher power you believe in. Therein lies peace.
Thanks for replying. But, your life, family and freedom are real and they can the threatened can't they? Would you say hatred is an illusion to those who are physically being hurt? If everything is an illusion then so is the conversation and nothing is real and even thinking is pointless. Your thoughts?
There is a being, underneath all the forms of life and physical matter. This being is the real truth of the world. You have a being, we all have a being. But, as of right now, most people you see are not in their being, they are identified with their thinking of who they are. The being does not associate with a label (Pornstar, Businessman, etc) The being is simply there. The peace comes from this being which has no physical form, and cannot be scientifically measured as far as I understand. "Nothing real can be threatened", this being cannot be killed. Your human body can. "Nothing unreal exists", physical form is constantly changing, dieing and being born. The consciousness from being is something which never truly dissapears, although it may be clouded by the thoughts of the mind. This is as far as I can put it into words, you must experience this reality to truly understand.
What i hear is double speak meaning nothing. Every thing can be excused as an illusion even this conversation. Telling me I don't understand my "being" is a rather condensing statement considering you don't know anything about me. My age, life's experiences or beliefs. What I hear is a spirit of pride that wants to think you are more enlightened that others, superior to others, know more about life that others, smarter than others. Have whatever belief you wish. I'll bet you get offended just as everyone else if debated. Here is some foolishness that I just made up. Does the make sense to you? "We need to evolved into a essence of the divine being radiating and emoting peace thru universal consciousness. By embracing the now and freeing ourselves of the dark karma of past darkness we will breath eternal life into the universe and free our beings of unnecessary disharmony and bring a new unity of harmonic vibrations which will light the candle of enlightenment it to a new world of total self awareness. I could write this nonsense all day and not say a darn thing.
Billy Barton dude what I said wasn't targeted at what you understand or don't understand, I was simply stating what Being is, And it was an attempt to explain that quote
Deepak, I don't think that type of thinking is just from the west. I am from South Carolina and was brought up in Meher Baba, and I certainly never learned to love myself from my so called eastern 'enlightened' parents, not any Baba followers, for that. Women are not taught to respect themselves in the east either, I think.
I absolutely love this dvd! I have watched it several times. These speakers are all people who have greatly influenced my thinking.

when you change your mind you change your world.its all common sents we make it hard.
When you are lost in the forest, stand still. Be who you are. The forest knows where you are and is not lost. Why is that?

37:11 “Personal Mission Statement.”
You have to be kidding me. So much woo here it hurts.
You dis the woo?
I agree, I don't like collective moralistic thinking, discouraging individuality. Thanks again.
33:26 I ❤ this.

"Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God." Someone please explain what this means, if possible.
