TNT a block at the back of the volcano and let the poop flow out of the map. So instead of it overflowing towards your base, it'll go out the other way as it wouldn't be able to overflow.
I played this map. I built a row of levees around the top rim to route the bad water off the map. Eventually, I did what you suggested and was able to cap it and drain it.
One thing to consider, the flow of bad water is more than one blocks worth. Matt actually has a new video about the fluid mechanics on this game. And I think there are two bad water sources down there but either way I think to keep up with input you need at least 3 tiles or it will still overflow so for two you would need six.
@KaneCold He could/should have built dam pieces (the ones that let water through when it gets near the top), so he still had a path across but didn't place beavers at risk of swimming through the bad water.
@@QueenMonny yeah, platforms would also be good to have it easier building floodgates later on. But to RCEs defense, he was short on wood, both plans would have been too costly at that moment. Covid meant I didn't have to commute to the office, I used the time saved to try RUclips- I was still doing engineering but working from home! PS Paddy loves you too
RCE, you absolutely can keep pumping water during a badtide. It's just that the efficiency of doing so goes all cattywampus. Like normally it takes, I believe, something like 0.3 hours (in game hours) for a small pump to produce a measure of water or at least extract water. When it's a badtide, that time just keeps going up to an hour, two hours, and I don't recall the exact max limit. You CAN get water from badtides using pumps, but it's a kind of "squared-cubed" problem. The amount of pumps you'd need to get any significant amount of potable water from a badtide outnumbers the number of beavers that amount of water can support. So it's really something you can use to only delay dehydration. Which is kind of nice, if there were two cycles where the water pumps were unusable, that'd be all sorts of crap and would just lead to a meta of water hoarding. But I'm still asking you about the potential of it all. You mentioned in the intro about a mega, giga, and tera dam. A peta, exo, zetta, and yoda- I mean yotta dam desire I as well. Built can it be, do you must. Command you, Yotta Dam does! Deal with much sh*t Yotta Dam does! Keep all wet will Yotta Dam do. After a Yotta Dam....Yeetus Dam? I don't know.
A tip for this map. During Droughts your number 1 priority should be getting across the river and UP the Poocano. Start branching off both directions with Levees around the Poocano from the semi-established pathway up to the mouth of the Poocano. Once you get at least the "front half" half circle (facing the river/colony) of the Poocano built up with a levee ring (half ring) then youll be set for quite a while. At that point you can abuse the top area of that semi-established path upwards for Badwater collection. It will also push all the badwater from the Poocano far enough around that it flows off the map away from the main river. From there its easy street!

@roland2852 I can't. But I'm also relatively new to the channel. I'd actually love some videos from the different editors' perspectives. Showing how they go about tackling the raw footage. Where and what to cut, which pictures and clips to insert, etc. We've seen Matt edit a Timberborn video before, and perhaps the process isn't much different for the editors, but I'd still like to see their perspectives on it. (Provided, of course, that any of them were willing to record the process and narrate it)
If you pause the pumps at the carrot farm during the bad tide, the pool will take longer to become contaminated, and if you wait a day after the bad tide to restart them the contamination will have almost entirely reversed. As they work they pull uncontaminated water out so it gets bad faster and stays bad longer as long they're pumping from it.
To speak on the intro, one of my favorite song intros of all time is the intro to Time of Your Life by Billie Joe Armstrong under Green Day where he fails the first chord, fails it again and mutters "fuck" before going into the song. I love it cause it's real, just like your intros for these.
I just tried this map, took 5 tries on easy mode to get past day 5 without any beavers getting contaminated. The new small storages (only 3 logs) make great bridges. Trick was to get just the right number of planks made as fast as possible, then destroy everything and rebuild on the other side and then get the science to make stairs. And then getting well established took some creative resource management. But then it was pretty fun to figure out how to make the map work, the new sluice gates and waterproof covers make bad tide management so much easier in all maps. Every time they add something like this it really changes the way I attack a map, the sluices needing metal means I'm now getting to metal block production way earlier than I used to.
Where do you find the custom map? I couldn't find it. I've been trying out the new update and am dying to see if you would eventually be able to cap off the badwater source and then build over the badwater rig so that you have a lake of clean water above it lol
Sir Matt! You can build a canal with no Dinamite if you use the one Terace (you know "stair shape Ground) and build on the Edge one Wall. So you can green a lot more of your Space along this Canal! Greeting from Germany
Regarding the poocano the first thing to do would be thinking about whether you want to use its outflow to generate power with water wheels. Also with the bad water update I really wish they’d add like gates so you could put them across paths and close certain paths during bad tide but open them up the rest of the time. 21:02 I think the reason your trees aren’t dying is the water from the giga-dam is protecting them, so they’re still getting enough good water to counteract the bad water.

20:30 matt says he doesn't know if the pumps filter badwater, as the description says clearly that it filters water, and that badwater contamination just slows them down, in otherwords, you can pump the sewage water, just slower than normal water, and you can still drink it!
Just a thought... destroy the blueberries as soon as you can. The only good thing about them is that they take very little work to deal with. But they're slow, and don't boost morale at all. Carrots, meanwhile, boost morale and grow 3x as fast (4x with a beehive). Moreover, if you're feeling micromanagy, you can put them near a farm, have your farmers plant them, then shut down the farm until they're grown. Tons of food, no having beavers sitting around not working.
Might be a fun idea to make a trough/viaduct out the back of the water mountain to the right and dump a bit there to get another huge green zone at the top of the map 👍 Might also be worth checking to make sure if the turbines can be placed on top of warehouses and things for future planning

On this map, looking towards the colony location, up to the far right... that area with 1 or 2 open floodgates will be 100% JUST FINE with only 3 Dams further down the mountian where your large dam is at. Youre fine for now until you open up all 3 spots up top to flow down, then you might want a 4th Dam in that large dam.
I love how RCE tries to make one thing and without it being build he tries to make new one and sets it to super high prioritize even though everything is already on super high prioritize.
You must totally put the Beavles album together, and put it somewhere prominent without context. Then make a video reading out the funniest bad reviews it gets!
Use the badwater rig rather than the dome. Also, it is possible to build the rig without ever setting foot in the badwater. Once you have it sealed, you can slowly chip away at the side of the volcano to drain the badwater.
To slow down the bad tide in the small water generator, could you block off the side of the map and put a flood gate that is like 0.7 on open, so that only a tiny bit of water leaves, then less clean water will be wasted out of the map? Maybe giving you time so that the food around it doesn't go off?
I had no idea bad seasons could only take a single day on Normal difficultly. You got lucky, any longer and all your trees would've definitely died. That's what you need the Contamination/Irrigation Barriers for.
I think it'd be interesting for mapmaking if a "clean" or "pure" water source was added, where it acts the same as a normal one during droughts but doesn't produce badwater during badtides (instead just shutting off like it's a drought). so you could have like, lakes that build up from a water source inside that don't get polluted during badtides
To make a reservoir immune to bad tides, you could make a big hole to dump water in all season It's not worth doing though, since you might as well use the space for actual water storage

Matt is a time traveler confirmed
Your lucky the bad tide didn't infect any beavers as you left the steps there going through water towards the other trees
First time seeing a creator asking to not like the video. Crazy. Matt always setting trends!
4:25 I bet Matt is gonna regret calling his beavers Paddy. I foresee bad things😢
Your music action is getting better everytime, even hitting the high notes! #Beavles #TimberLane
I had no idea bad seasons could only take a single day on Normal difficultly. You got lucky, any longer and all your trees would've definitely died. That's what you need the Contamination/Irrigation Barriers for.
Glad to immediately start off with a matt banger
I think it'd be interesting for mapmaking if a "clean" or "pure" water source was added, where it acts the same as a normal one during droughts but doesn't produce badwater during badtides (instead just shutting off like it's a drought).
so you could have like, lakes that build up from a water source inside that don't get polluted during badtides
You got this, Past Matt!
Listening to the Beavels whilst talking business (big deal) over chat with a company was quite the experience 😅
To make a reservoir immune to bad tides, you could make a big hole to dump water in all season
It's not worth doing though, since you might as well use the space for actual water storage
