- Hi took my Orbea gain out today to answer that I get asked the most, How well do there work when the power is off? Well today I climbed the highest point in my area to find out. Let’s see how the Orbea Gain copes as a normal bike
Hello again and well done indeed - your time with tbe e-bike has obviously done wonders for your fitness over the period. I can relate to your 'like a normal bike' story, because I added a friction drive e-kit to my road bike and found the same thing. It's a cheapish aluminium bike which weighs 10.8kg, which with the kit at 2.7kg added, gives me an all up weight of 13.5kg (which I actually thought, wrongly, was the weight of the Gain), which is perfectly rideable unassisted - unless you are a weight weenie 3kg or so extra is no big deal. I always ride so on the flats, but at 91 years of age I do find myself now using the assist on most of the hills - more than I would like actually. Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming.
Nice to hear from you Vince hope you’re well 😊
Hi there, i have the orbea gain and love ridding with and without the assistance, with the assistance I'm happy to have a ride on days i wouldn't have bothered before!
Enjoying the channel 👍
Thank you Andy, yes after the big climb I did yesterday I’ve just done a quick 15 mile ride with power off just to turn legs, I forget it has a motor on really 😊
Nice ride very well done, its always harder getting more weight up a climb, good effort.
Enjoy the rest of your week
Agree but was please how the bike works when not using the power, really impressed 😊 thank you again Terry
Hi mate, I've gone soft I like to ride most of the time with assist on but it is nice sometimes just with the legs and the lungs. Nice ride bit windy, please can your post your 100 miler on komoot, I would like to try a flat ride for a change, it will also be nice to see the video 😊
Yes will be on all when I do it hopefully in a few weeks 😊
Great video Im looking for an Ebike the orbea gain 30 looks good, not sure whether to go for the the105 version or the Grx 1X version.
I’ve not used GRX, the 105 is brilliant love it. Think it all depends on if you will be doing off road gravel rides or mostly road cycling. GRX is perfect for off road so depends what you want to do, both have same x35 system so no different there 😊
@Lake District cyclist I have a gravel bike with sram 1x and a road bike with shimano tiagra love both, its a hard decision, and where I live is not very hilly the Cambridgeshire fens, if I need hills usually venture out into Northamptonshire or Rutland, but nothing like the lake district.
Depends what’s best for you but I love the 105, plus depends what tyres you want too I guess but I’ve put 700x35s gravel tyres on my D30 anyways due to some roads up my way
How you getting on with the new 840? I get mine today and gonna sell my wahoo bolt v2. Selling point for me is the ebike page and bigger screen and of course the touch screen as I am always scrolling.
Love it mate, love the climbpro comes up when you don’t need to plot a course and the ebike screen and touchscreen are brilliant 😊
Great ride! Up hill both ways! How did you get the 840 to guide your levels (1,2&3) without using the Orbea bike computer? I see you have both mounted (as do I).
Hi I did a video here on how to connect your 840 to the Orbea ruclips.net/video/lZFzgfuBgf4/видео.html since I’ve had the 840 haven’t used the OC computer but have it as spare 😊
@@LakeDistrictcyclist - Thanks - will watch it now! Headed out in 1/2 hour for a ride with my new 840! But first your video! Thanks again for all the tips
No worries have a great ride 😊
