I'm taking a college math course and haven't touched this topic since jr high. My professor goes too fast and fails to explain the whole picture, which is what I need for it to make sense. This was a life saver! You are a wonderful teacher! To the students who are talking right through class, you are being rude and you will regret it someday. This is certainly different from where I’m from. Where I’m from, we learn how to factor “ax^2 + bx + x, where a = 1”, then “ax^2 + bx + c”, followed by learning how to complete the square, thus forming the vertex form of the quadratic, then learning how to derive and use the quadratic formula. Then and only then do we learn to graph, which makes it easier, since we know how to factor (finding x-intercepts), we know how to complete the square (finding the vertex), and all we need to learn is that the “c” constant is the y-intercept.
