I am a 74 year old former high school mathematics teacher, trying to relearn all of the mathematics (calculus) that I have forgotten since I graduated from college 52 years ago. Your videos help me so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Dear Organic Chemistry Teacher and other people out there I think the third example is very wrong! If you see the negative sign was on the y side (right side) so it would be wrong to assume that the graph is -x^2=y. Also when solving for the foci shouldn't it have been 7/2 because 3-(-1/2) = 7/2 but the video showed 5/2 but I can also see that if the foci is 7/2 the whole graph would be very wrong. Let me also add that the solution for the directrix is also wrong! 3+(-1/2)=5/2 not 7/2 Please help me!!

@@stupefyore your answer is the correct one I believe (its what i got anyways). √189 breaks down into √9 and √21, which then breaks down further into 3√21. √25 is of course 5 which goes underneath.

@@jerasong2196 As I am reading the textbook and watching this video, for the directrix we use -p. In this case it is y=k-p=3-(-1/2). For the foci we use +p in this case it is (h,k+p)=(-1,3+(-1/2)). If you plot the original equation in a graphing calculator you will get the same graph from the video. If you try that -p and +p in the previous parabola examples you will get the same results from the video.

Sir, can we have shared, the sources/book you are using in this amaziiiiiing lecture......Please
Nice... Cause it'd be great if we can refer to them and not depend wholly on RUclips
I watched alot of your videos and fell in love with this channel, thank you so much man, I appreciate

mistake on the screen at 22:47 : should be 225 - 36 = 189, not 289
dude u r literally my saver, If not for u I would never learn it, my endless gratitude to u my Homie
Hyperbola- a is the positive value
Ellipse- a is the bigger value
Dear Organic Chemistry Teacher and other people out there I think the third example is very wrong! If you see the negative sign was on the y side (right side) so it would be wrong to assume that the graph is -x^2=y. Also when solving for the foci shouldn't it have been 7/2 because 3-(-1/2) = 7/2 but the video showed 5/2 but I can also see that if the foci is 7/2 the whole graph would be very wrong. Let me also add that the solution for the directrix is also wrong! 3+(-1/2)=5/2 not 7/2 Please help me!!
@@MariaM-wq3vn Ohh okkk! So the only error was the computation. I also thought the parabola was supposed to be just x^2=y instead of -x^2=y. Thanks for pointing it out! :>
@@MariaM-wq3vn If it's alright with you may I ask if either the parabola faces up or down is the fornula for foci always (h,k+p) and for directrix is k-p? Then if the parabola faces right or left is the formula for foci always (h+p,k) and for directrix is h-p? I really appreciate if you could reply bro because this is the conclusion I came up with but I'm not sure if it's correct. Thanks! :>
i'm studying engineering and this is really helpful! i love you so much
You're the best Dude! I wish I could send you some cash!

I've had a class on conics, they did a bad job at explaining why the formula works. I had a hard time trying to determine what all the variable meant. But this cleared up so much that I can't believe I had a hard time understanding it before.
34:11 is the squared really included? or nah? y-2 = plus minus 4/5(x + 1)
Ever since i watched the coic sections videos on youtube this video is far the most understandable/much easier to understand..
I never don’t comment in RUclips. But after this video, I really wanted to write a comment. I think, this video was better than online-lesson or lessons at school . Everyone should see this video.
Everything You Need To Know About Conic Sections:
1. Circles
2. Ellipses
3. Hyperbolas
4. Parabolas
Love this vid- all of your videos are so well explained. I learned more in 1 hour than I learned in a week of school
Can you please do a video on rotation of conics?
U r rly helping me i will have entrance exam after a mnth i wish i start ur vidios earlier
@ 33:59 there should not be a square over (x+1) for the equation of asymptote. should there be?
Rafa Syed ya I noticed the same thing
Yeeee
Finally i have found the source of cleverness
your voice 😍
I watched all the video, best explaining on the interior RUclips! thanks from heart 💓
