- After a few years of deciding NOT to attend the Homesteaders Of America Conference, I decided to make the 10 hour drive south to attend. In the end, it was way more fun than I ever imagined!

The Mindful Homestead is a small farm in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. We raise Forest Pastured Pork, Pastured Poultry and Fresh Eggs. Our aim is to grow as much of our own food as we can, while supplying quality farm products to others as well.

I watch a lot of these type channels and it makes me so happy to see families returning to what was normal for me growing up. I am sure that the value is not missed as so many people are now involved. Here where I am towards Albany NY, I have watched farm after farm disappear. Hopefully this movement will take hold here and more farms will return! Thank you all homesteaders for teaching our future generation!

I been dying to start my farm life for so long now it’s my main goal to get to that point and I’m so upset that I’m not living that lifestyle yet.

Stark Bros You guys used to sell the greatest plants but the quality on my last two orders was terrible. I have a 3 acre permaculture site so I have ordered multiple times. My brother just made a tree list for his 3 acre site and unfortunately I told him about my bad experience and he is looking else where.
Sounds like everyone had a good time. Homesteading is growing.

I live in a mobile home community right now, but my husband and I have a homestead in Mexico. We will be moving there when we have enough money saved up to finish the house and live on until we have money coming in from our ventures.

First time watcher but I do follow the Rhoads family. I am in my 60,s now and wish I had choose this live style decades ago.
Talk to each other and if you know of a family that does not have the meads to buy acres but with strong backs, good work ethics and family values I would love to invest and live out my days on a farm raising home grown fruit, veggies and the rest.
I would want a small home and a larger home for possible said family.
My dream for me and my family x

Have been watching MANY of these presenters for a couple of years now - ever since the Plandemic started. I have fallen in love with them all ~ and their families. Such good-hearted folks and what they are doing is AWESOME! To see children running around barefoot on the farms is heart warming and the way it should be. Also to see them doing the chores on the farm and the older ones taking responsibility on their own ~ what a great way to grow up! SO GOOD!!!!
Wife and I used to sleep in the back of my pickup when we went scuba diving in north Florida. It was cheap and worked well for us. Not sure my back could take it now though. Glad you had fun.
It’s certainly not something I’ll be doing allll the time. Haha. But once in a while it works.
I used to sleep in my Subaru ALL time. ...in WINTER ice climbing
..later in life I used to travel for wood deliveries to NYC ..told my kids I was staying in 'Hotel de Ford. That would be my FORD dually 4 door, slept in the rear seat. Now in E-Series vans .

My aunt raised those huge hogs. And she would go to the local dairy an get the whey.

I'm getting into homesteading as soon as I get some land !(:
I have family that work at a restaurant and would bring home 5gal buckets of food for the pigs every 1-2 days. Even with nearly 80% of my pig food free and $0.60lb for butchering you can still buy $0.89lb ham at the grocery store at the right time of year. Il never do pigs again. For the price.
Its not about price, its about quality.

I live in Maine and thought the HOA convention was too far to go to, but I'm pleasantly surprised to find your channel and find that I was wrong! :-) I really enjoyed this video of your trip to Virginia for the event. I've checked out some of the other homesteaders you showed links for -- love the wooden spoon carvers -- and now I'm thinking about making the trip next year. It would be fun to meet some of my heroes, like Joel Salatin, et. al., and I know I would learn a lot. Thanks!

The Mother Earth Homesteader Event in Seven Springs, PA is probably closer for you. Many of the same Speakers rotate thru their Events. Major Vendors and smaller Homesteader Vendors are, also, in attendance at one of the many Mother Earth Events in the USA. I like rotating between ME & HOA, hope to add Doug & Stacy's Homesteader event someday to my travels.

Futon mattress is better than an air mattress.
I guess my experience was a little different. I went for the first time this year. I don't know what I expected, but the conference was more like a farmer's market on steroids. It took 2 hours to get into the parking lot in the morning and then there was a huge wait for both the porta potties and for food. The lectures were great, but nothing you can't see on RUclips. I think I am done with HOA conferences.

I love viewing homesteader videos and even though I'm a small city dweller, I have increased my skills into growing more in my small backyard, understanding soil health, and starting many of my vegetables and flowers from seed. Plans for the future are a cold frame and a small greenhouse. This question is just out of curiousity, I noticed a lot of homesteaders are refer to God or appear faith based in their decision to become more sustainable or to homestead and am wondering if, in your opinion, a majority of homesteaders are religious, Christian, God based, etc. This is not a criticism just a curiosity.

Doug and Stacey ~ YES! The Hollars !!! YES! Justin Rhodes ~ and family ~ YES! Joel Salatin ~ YES! Art and Bri and ALL the children ~ including newest addition of TWINS! And quite a few more. I feel like I know ALL OF YOU! and I get so much out of your videos!!! I don't have a homestead but I sure do wish I did. It's my kind of living. I am living in an apt. complex. I did grow a garden this year and last year ~ even though it was small. I do ferment veggies ongoing, go to a local farm about a mile from where I live and enjoy their veggies, and I try to lean into health any way possible.
Haven't been able to make it to the HOA conference yet maybe next year I'm hoping to make it to the Okie homestead conference in March when they put the tickets on sale they closed Town PayPal in the internet
I would definitely try to make it!
