Bro, taking care of your family is your first ministry. That's an investment that that will pay dividends for centuries of humans that follow after you.
Your family comes first and your honesty about that is refreshing. Keep doing what is important to you and your loved ones!! In the end, family and relationships are what matter most.
It's was a pleasure to meet you and your channel is amazing. Never expected to meet you. My wife said we're getting a farm raised turkey and showed up to your house and I was shocked it was the guy I've been learning from to homestead myself. All I can say is thank you
I was thinking this week that I had not seen any new releases from you in a while, and I chalked it up to the algorithm changing what RUclips presented. Thanks for the update on your life and the blessing of finding a new position you are passionate about. Cherish the time with the little ones. You won't get a do-over on that. You are absolutely right; missing time playing with the little ones is more important than the pennies per hour producing videos. Thanks for the parts of your homesteading life you have shared. Take care, and God bless.
I LOVE THIS!!! Dude, your family should ALWAYS come first. I actually just found you BECAUSE I am going to the HONE to see Jess. It's actually a joint birthday gift for me and my youngest daughter. I was looking to see what the previous HONE events were like to get an idea of what to expect because this will be my first event of this nature. I rabbit-holed through those videos and a few others and found your "I want to be a rain gutter" video which made me subscribe to you, and then saw this in the que and decided to watch. I will keep all notifications on and I look forward to whatever you have to share, whenever you find time to share it. I love your perspective and I am now seriously excited to meet you. Enjoy those babies! It goes by SO fast. See you in a few days!
First and foremost, thank you for being a man and realizing that your family needed you more than RUclips or your subscribers needed you. Congrats to you on your new position and career!
I respect your priorities! Our 2nd little just turned 1, I definitely agree with the exponential hectic haha ahh! Enjoy your family, we'll see ya when we see ya :)
Hey you have to do what’s right for you Jack! Congratulations on the new position and the responsibilities SR1 has given to you. You’ll do great! Cheers, Mike.
The most important thing is that you and your family are OK. Family is the #1 priority, RUclips is way down the list. Glad to know you and the Family are doing well!!! Thank you for letting us know. Wow, how exciting about the new job. You can do videos showing how you tested equipment on the Homestead, LOL
I felt this. I totally relate. I don't have children, but I know the effort and time that is invested in making content. I envy those who evidently have endless things and projects to make content. Mental health and family health tend to get put on the back burner. New subscriber here...hopefully that helps.
Family is super important and you have a lot on your plate. You do what's best for you and your family and we will all be here when you have something to tell us!
My wife and I welcomed our 2nd child into our lives in April. Chaos is the word that would aptly describe our lives at this point. So I totally get where you’re coming from. Take the time you need to adjust and if you feel like coming back, we’ll be here.
I don't say on my channel where I am exactly. I've seen other channels say that people have found out where they are and just showed up to their homes and that's scary.
Thank you for sharing the story. We too have noticed a drop in RUclips revenue on our channel. Thankfully, we’re at a point in our life (daughter starting her 2nd year in college) where we have the time outside of our day jobs to still put the time and effort into RUclips- and we really enjoy the community of RUclipsrs and followers.
Thanks for the video, Jack. I was thinking, the other day, that I hadn't seen a video from you so I came over to see if somehow I had gotten unsubcribed. I am finding it really hard to keep up with the 1 video a week because getting out for a hike is very weather dependent, I hate hiking in the rain, and getting up early so I can get a parking spot is tough. I have dropped down to once a month. I am trying to figure out how to do more "talking head" or vlog type videos but I have a hard time talking just to the camera.
Good luck, Jack! SR1 is lucky to have you, and so is your family. I’m weighing the possibility of growing my channel vs going back to work. I’m “fortunate” to be older than you and that we are empty nesters. I could have never done this when the kids were young.
I’m up to 3 kids now. Yep on the exponential. I have about 2 months off each late spring from my regular job, so that’s when I make most of my content and roll it out weekly after. Fussing with filming definitely slows projects down. I try to just capture enough footage to make a good video, then work “normal” for as much of the process as I can. As much as it’s a pain, I actually shoot and edit on my phone so I can do the editing on the go when I’m traveling. Funny that now I might bump into you if I start tractor shopping for a machine upgrade.
Well you work 20 minutes from where we live, rip Jay's Auto! You have a young family that will not stay young, so enjoy the time with them, our youngest just started college so time goes poof in a blink of an eye. Wishing you all the best, and continued blessings!
I don't have a TYM tractor, but I have a Rural King Tractor which is manufactured by Tym. It is an RK 25 which I know Tym has a similar tractor. I know some parts are interchangeable and some aren't. But good luck with the family and the job.
Hey Jack, ltns. The family is certainly more important! I spend more time with my grandchildren, who visit frequently. And, I came out of retirement to work a full time job and do some part-time consultation work. So, yeah, RUclips hits the chopping block. Congrats on the new job!
Damn, I feel like we just broke up lol. I remember when we went from 1 to 2 to 3 kids and how much of an adjustment it was each time. You go from tag teaming one, to having to rely on each other more and more to mass chaos. Just getting daily chores done is sometimes a struggle and I work from home. Gotta always put you and your family first.
I have always enjoyed your videos and your open honest content. Take the time and enjoy those kids. They grow up way too fast. Good luck and take care.
I’m nearly 70 I’ve been a government agent and Courier, I run a couple business I’ve done multiple things during my life. I can rarely remember any because they’re not really important. But I Remember Every Minutes That I Spent with My Children, because when you’re 70 and they are in their 40s you remember that that is what was Important!
I agree! You'd expect a second kid to only be 50% more hectic because you already have one. NAH. It's 3 times tougher. When one kid is trying to put on his shoes the other one is trying to take them off or distracting. Pure chaos
I wanted to say, thank you for the wonderful explanation of the holding roosters or not, it has been so very much helpful for me, I keep now my rooster, his name is Romeo lol keep going my friend 😂
I'm sure you'll find the overwhelming support from us subscribers that you deserve because you've certainly got your priorities in the proper order. Is it sad to not see your ugly mug on a video as often as we're used to? Sure. But, you've had some hard decisions to make recently and you're knocking it out of the park. Congrats on all the new changes in your life. Stay safe and stay true to yourself. Just drop in with a video now and then to say hi.
First one changes everything, second one doubles it, third one completely overwhelms: but after that it may as well have a half dozen; cause you never get on top of it, lol.
Still here! Selling tractors and spending more time with family. When the channel was in it's heyday, I'd spend 2-3 nights a week up until 1am editing video. That takes time away from things that really matter. We also had a really hard year for farming with some sick animals. I've still got lots of ideas, but with Emma and Madison in growing up, I want to spend as much time with them while they still want to hang out with me. I'm hoping to put out a farm update video in the next few weeks.
To make it interesting and entertaining it does. It takes more time to set up good angles, making sure it's in focus, making sure the audio is clean, editing, etc...than it does actually doing the task. Anyone can set up a tripod and do a timelapse but most won't sit and watch that.
Family ALWAYS comes first!

Jack, family first always. Thanks for sharing the past videos and the NE Homesteaders gatherings (past and future). Best of luck.
You have to take care of yourself and your family! Congratulations on the new job. Can’t wait to you at Homesteaders of New England!

Trying to attend H.O.N.E. this year. Hoping to be able to meet you and chew the fat a bit about all things homesteading in New Hampshire.
Best wishes to you and your family. Good luck with your new job as well. Love your family time. With 12 grandkids I can relate.

If Reddit was a farmer
It doesn't take double the time to video something
If you do it right it does.
@@TheMindfulHomestead sounds like you are doing it wrong
