One of the reasons why Dizziee is a legend is that at the time he blew up so many UK rappers were trying to sound American and Dizziee was unapologetically British
Nahh there were plenty of uk hip hop artists that were doing this long before Dizzee was on the scene. Roots manuva was one of the first (although I appreciate he did have that slight American slant on certain things) but Dizzee came from Jungle, and there was hundreds of jungle Mc’s before dizzee
The thing the USA don't get is that this is standard procedure for UK heads, this is how we come up, we don't have a chance to hide behind producers and studio versions, all artists spit...
i'm glad dizzee did a 5 fingers of death, repping the UK - it's a shame they didn't actually put a UK beat on even when they asked for it ha! ... would love to see Kano do this, he would kill it! Skepta too but he's already quite well known in america so i dunno.
Problem is, they're giving him hip-hop beats, which is why his last beat worked better. Give him Grime style beats and then you'll see how he smashes it.
I recognize how hard Dizzee went on these beats, he smashed every single one of them, but I somehow still can't get over the disrespect of letting him go on these kinda whacky trap beats, even when it's the MO of the show give him a whack grime beat, pay some respect to grime culture
@I Lost Sumo freestyle technically means ‘free of style’ and ‘off the top’ came later. This is all about showing off your lyrical prowess over dope beats. Dope shit
@I Lost Sumo It is, in it's purest form. I literally just explained it in my last post mate. You can spit pre-writtens and it still be a freestyle, most 90s rappers did it!
@I Lost Sumo I think the only stupid person here is you. You clearly have no grasp of what I’m saying. Pre writtens can still be freestyles, jumping on different beats and riding them with different flows is what makes it a freestyle, not the content. As I say, type in any of your favourite 90s or 00s rappers and half their freestyles ended up being used in songs.
Dizzee smashed it as always. I saw him live in Nottingham in a club called the Bomb, long gone now sadly. Just after Boy in Da Corner came out and blew up. Grime had been strong underground for a while, some of my Leicester peeps were putting out lovely playful mixtapes over techno and speed garage years before but Dizzee took it next level with mainstream exposure. Dizzee was a massive Prodigy fan and also supported them on at least 1 tour, Dizzee opening for Prodigy just after Invaders Must Die album dropped was my all time best night, Moshpit was mental RIP Keith Flint and keep reppin Dizz

He’d better be good at this, it’s how he came up: spitting over tracks on radio like most UK grime artists. They could have had the studio in a kitchen in a council flat for true authenticity.
Yo I love how he got so studio when the UK beat was put on. He actually had to stop himself from going in and giving a studio performance on that one. Absolutely the best.

He is one of the more renowned figures in Grime music. 2. I wouldn't class Dizzee as relevant in the Grime scene at the moment (in my opinion). However Boy In Da Corner was, and still is, one of the most seminal Grime albums ever made, and helped to propel Grime's popularity. 3. Dizzee did not 'create' Grime with Wiley. Grime evolved from, predominantly, Garage and Jungle music. However, Wiley and Dizzee Rascal were definitely forerunners, alongside other producers and MCs like Skepta, Rapid (from Ruff Sqwad) Jammer (the artist people love to hate) and Footsie. The contributions made by Dot Rotten (now Zeph Ellis) should also not be overlooked. 4. Dizzee is primarily a Grime artist. Grime is not the same as UK Rap. 5. The production that samples Justin Timberlake is not American, it's British. It's produced by DJ Cable. 6. Kano will always be Grime's greatest MC ;)
Your right they are too intelligent for this, they have more important stuff to do. Besides there are other platforms that give time to them. over and out 'tinfoil'
Not really, 10 years ago they were calling him a conspiracy theorist for mentioning phones were taps then what happens 10 years after? Phones are tapped. He's intelligent like Akala, Lowkey, people need to get unplugged and wake up my friend. Self knowledge is were its at. Read my friend read. I will check out what you mentioned but doubt it will change my mind.
The west is responsible for a lot of the conditions of the 'other' countries. He's not attacking the american people he's attacking the system of exploitation. Wake up. America will soon be a lost cause like Europe. Phone are tapped. 60 million in Spain were tapped among others keep up. Your just a 'Tech Troll'
As an american living in the UK i would say Rappers that can blow in the states; Nafe Smallz, Yung Fume, Haile, Chillah, Geko, Nines, Lady leshur, C biz (Maybe)
Only one he wasn't perfect on was the Notorious Thugs beat. But that UK beat though, definitely killed it! I was introduced to Dizzee through "Mosh Pit" on Tinie Tempah's Demonstration album. My favorite Dizzee song is of course Baseline Junkie.
One of the reasons why Dizziee is a legend is that at the time he blew up so many UK rappers were trying to sound American and Dizziee was unapologetically British
Brilliant
Why I like him and many of the new British rappers a lot. It’s a whole new rhymes and flows

Would you care to point me to whoever is on the cutting edge of grime currently? The classics, while important, feel dated.
Jayfire u know ur stuff man😂
This is what I love about overseas artists. They still believe in true talent Salute! Crazy 🔥
as soon as the 140 was pulled out you could tell he was loving it
Sway you need to get Akala, Lowkey and Immortal Tech on here!!!
lowkey tried it On who said i cant do grime. which ironically proved he couldnt
Of course he can.
Giggs nines & c biz can, because they've got rap flows not grime flows, they're all really from the street too so Americans won't mock them
Dizzee rode them beats and flipped em so dope with his cadences
Korupt FM need to get on this show, MC Grindah would straight burn this place down! UK REP!

Fist verse is used in his song Space fro the album raskit
I enjoyed this. Why did it take youtube 4 years to recommend this to me, I watch Sway and I'm from east london 😂
i knew of Raskit in 2004 when he was rocking the radio in London. I was Portland, OR at the time.
DAMNNN!! DIZZEE KILLED IT!
