The song quite literally rips off Dismember's Dreaming in Red.
Alissa's growling is just amazing - I had left RUclips automatic subtitles on from watching another video and it was able to correctly pick up large portions of the lyrics, that's how clear and well produced Alissa's growls are, despite the heavy distortion textures she is using.
Although Alissa growls with Arch Enemy (with a couple of exceptions) she does have a big vocal toolkit, up to and including high soprano notes. She has referred to this as her "operatic" voice, though I don't know enough to know if it is true opera or just singing wicked high! I believe she is up to an E6 in her Swan Lake version with a former band, The Agonist. She has described her "true" voice as being bluesy, though it is really rare to hear it.
I honestly think, for vocal reactors, there are some exceptional women in the metal genre who work on these techniques to introduce extra styles and colours to their singing performances and Alissa is an excellent example.
Alissa White-Gluz is Arch Enemy's third vocalist. She is an absolute queen beast, and a beautiful soul.
However, the band's previous vocalist - Angela Gossow (who now manages the band) - had a stage presence that was unmatchable. Please react to some older Arch Enemy live, with Angela on vocals.
I love both vocalists (I don't think I've ever heard them with their first vocalist, whose name was Johan, I think), but they are distinct in their approach and their styles.
But Alissa always seems to have the most amazing outfits on stage, which she designs herself.

I've really been getting into Arch Enemy lately! Alissa is amazing! The band is amazing! Handshake with Hell was in a whole other league as far as metal songs go and this one is stellar as well! This band really hasn't had a bad song that I've heard so far! Every song I've heard has made into my playlists!

I"m actually from Halmstad in Sweden, and shared reharsal localities with Michael Amott's first band inn our teens.
From the same small Swedish town of 100.000 citizens we also have Roxette, another huge rock/pop band.
Music is our trademark, besides cellphone applications in medical technology and cell phone tower technology and IT forensics.
Pretty much all musicians from Halmstad know each other and collaborate in diffferent forms, shapes and band settings, genre mixiings etc.
Mike is one of the most gifted musicians and guitarists I know. He has a unique sense for melodiesand combinig them with phat riggs, Daniel"s eenormous stamina on the drums. Jeff Loomis is a world famous guitarists whose capacity to "marry" Mike in the solos is amazing, let alone his own solos.
And Alissa... As a singer and vocal coach in the rock/blues genre-she's something rlse. She can catch 200.000 people in 5 seconds and never lose one inch from the stage to the last space in the back og huge arenss.
Hrr clean voice is even better thsn her growling, so I recommend Handshake with Hell, where she seamlessly goes from the deepest layers of growl to clean voice between 2 tones in impossible tritonus and back down again. Number one. Angela, their former singer is now their manager. She has even deeper layers, but not that amazing clean voice.
And not the striking stage presence and larger than life persona.
I know it's a short video, but I would absolutely love it you took a look at Aaron Tveit's rendition of El Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rouge, it's amazing!
The drummer "A-Yeon" just covered this a week ago, nice to see this song getting attention. It may not be vocal, but give her drums a listen.

I can't believe this is your first time doing Arch Enemy! Well it's about time! Alissa is one of my absolute all-time favourite vocalists! She also does beautiful cleans aswell, although she rarely showcases this in Arch Enemy, one exception is the song 'Handshake with hell", other than that, I think tha best song that showcases her full abilties better is her guest appearance on Nita Strauss song 'The wolf you feed' which is annother banger! 🤘

Arch Enemy really seems to specialize in that particular breed of extreme metal, the melodic death subgenre. Their songwriting creates that incredible combo of heavy, denser riffs, but then with these bright guitar melodies woven through them. The formula to me is clearly a winner. Those guitar leads often have a major epic feel to them, which stirs you as a listener. Their vocalist Alissa, a successor who was selected by their prior frontwoman Angela, has definitely gotten a firm grip on doing the low growls and a high scream here and there. But her clean voice is quite melodic on its own, actually, and they’ve begun to include it more. In general metal women bring beautiful strength to music.
I love her versatility, she can do very angelic vocals one moment, then the next, it's like a bullfrog that fell out of Satan's ass, but in a very good way, lol. The skill needed to pull that off is mind blowing. her voice can produce any sound you can imagine, and make it sound good. But the Fry-Scream and growls... she has mastered that. Most would only attempt it for a moment to punctuate a short verse, and here, it's the entire song... hell, I'd get winded trying to hum along with this.

It is melodic. As far as I know this genre is called Melodic Death Metal. Alyssa actually is a great clean singer as well, however with Arch Enemy it is mostly growling, but she has a pretty good diction!

Utilizing two different singing styles is very intentional, as are the clothes and makeup and even the two different guitars. All are part of the meaning of the song. Happy Sunday, Rebecca!

Me, being an old school metal guy. We used to refer to that voice style as "Cookie Monster". I didn't appreciate the style as much and I guess I won't ever normally. Oddly enough, I love this song! The construction, the message is wonderful. The solo is simple and stylish, not just some guy noodling around on a guitar....classy and harmonic. This song is one I can identify with personally because not only did I grow up in a place where the only metal or punk we got was in buying the "albums" as there were no radio stations that would play it. Growing up I felt very alone and tended to stick close to my "clan" of metalheads. Metal On Arch Enemy! Rebecca, you picked a keeper.

This is not only the first song I heard of Arch Enemy and the one that got me hooked on them. It´s also a masterpiece both when it comes to composition of the music and the cinematics. It took me two or three times before i saw it. But in the beginning the eagle comes flying in, the guitars start playing and then she stands on the ground, telling you that she is flying alone and makes her statement. Then she actually lands one time in the middle of the song, and finally in the end she is walking away and taking off (the eagle and Alyssa blend together and she flies away looking back at you. It´s a masterpiece and Alyssa White Glutz is not only able to growl, she has a fantastic voice when it comes to singing "normally". She has done a Collab with Nita Strauss "The wolf you feed" where she switches between growling and clean vocals ruclips.net/video/YYQ02OP5h00/видео.html . I like your reaction.

Please check out and review “Sunshine” by The Red Clay Strays - Western AF version. The lead singer sounds like a mixture of Joe Cocker mixed with some Johnny Cash. A special group with that classic southern rock sound that’s very rare these days

Alissa's growling is amazing yes and lot of people name her the queen of metal :) but i have to say, i have seen arch enemy with angela gossow as singer, and in my oppinion is angela the real queen of metal because in her voice was more aggressive and brutal :)
