Dungeon Finder is a convience yes, and it is a necessary one. DF didnt ruin WoW or any other MMOs social aspect, it just gave people the ability to not have to talk to and befriend every dickhead they meet online just to get any of the content in the game done.
If his idea of making the game better is to remove a feature that the vast majority of people enjoy because he kinda misses something from before based entirely on his own personal experience then thank fuck he doesn't actually work at Blizzard. Because that sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Honestly, out of all the WoW people, Asmongold and Savix are like the only ones with proper advice to better the game, instead of just reveling in thoughts of the good old times.
Asmongold is 100% right with the difficulty about WoW. Dragonflight Season 3 showed that if you had easier content, people actually comeback to play your game. WoW got way to difficult expansion after expansion. The average Joe struggles with ICC, what makes you think that they can raid Sepulcher of the First Ones?
Coming to Madseason: He has great videos, but almost all of his current WoW videos from the last years water down to "classic good, everything new bad".
The social aspect Madseason constantly mentions in this video and also his other videos, is a artifact of its time which cannot be repeated again in any game, not even Classic Relaunch could repeat it.
WoW Classic (2004) was present at a time where Social Media and communicating with other people over the internet was not mainstream. Nowadays, almost every website has options to connect or chat with other people. It is not something special any longer.
Forcing people to constantly deal with other people is a hassle, especially for your 9-5 guys which spends his days constantly dealing with other people on work...
And lets not forget that most of us are not 16 years old students any longer, we don't want to deal with the same shit like mindless reputation grind like we did back then. The game has to evolve and almost every decision they made in SoD in regards to the core game philosophy was good (making more speccs useful, trying to lower the amount of chores etc).
The SoD world buff meta is cancer and should have been removed entirely. That's the reason I quit. Why would I spend longer getting buffs than clearing half the raid and maybe losing them anyway? What's the point?

they should add new rpg elements that vanillafy SOD, the runes SEEMED like that, but they didnt go far and were mostly a bit superficial. we need lore rich stuff in unfinished areas. it doesnt have to be great, vanilla really isnt great, just copy other old rpgs
I just quit SOD and all of WoW because of the min max toxic community. It's actually unbelievable how aggressive people are in the game about metrics. People really lost sight of the journey. Its all about who gets to the end fastest. It doesn't matter if you enjoy it.

I mean Madseason is that 25% of the population that grey parses consistently, and you question how they manage to stay that shit for 20 years. Especially since pressing your buttons randomly almost certainly gets you a blue.
He's a classic Andy boomer, and if he had his philosophy implemented back in old WoW, it wouldn't have lasted until WoTLK. Nearly every change was positive for the game until the last patch of MoP.
To answer your second question. Do you think Madseason is good enough to get past level 10 on Hardcore? No, that's why he doesn't play it. Secondly, playing Vanilla is such a chore. You can spend 200hrs of gameplay for nearly 0 progression. Most people, after doing it once, are not insane enough to do it again. It is cool to experience but I wouldn't say it's peak WoW experience or fun.
I also hate World Buff META, but I played it because that's what's expected if you want to clear fast and not grief the other 39 people. It's Blizzard job to protect the players from themselves min maxing. You can't ask the community to not to get them because it makes it annoying as a casual. Blizzard should have removed them as they bring more negatives as positives and make raiding a chore, but blaming the players for it is stupid. He should blame Blizzard for this one.
Lastly, he's so against min maxing and sounds like a really shit clown dad, so people would probably not want to play with him and carry him. There's a reason he only likes classic with talking and 0 mechanics. He's never uploaded his gameplay for a reason and he's full of really bad takes.

I didn't even know Madseason played HC WoW and I was watching the launch of it at the time lol. He fails to mention that even Vanilla classic launch was not 100% Vanilla. They literally balanced the heck out of abilities for PvP (not so much for PvP but to prevent ppl getting griefed). I thought SOD p1 was very fun and wanted more modernization for it, not less. Why SOD really fell off is another discussion.
The only thing I agree with him on to some extent was WoW boost ruining the leveling experience. Back then, b4 the boost was available, it was kinda fun making an alt and spamming dungeons/quests seeing ppl out in the world. Also he made a point about power level boosting ruining this as well.
Him whining about the WoW token is soooooooo dated and past stupid at this point. WoW token does help cut down on botting/RMT, it literally incentivizes Blizzard to do so. Do ppl rly want money to continue to go to gold sellers over Blizzard? I understand players turn around and use the gold to p2w but that p2w has a ceiling that any non p2w player can achieve. I see it everyday, a player who has no time to gold farm or learn how to buys a token or two in order to fund the cost of his crafted gear and consummes. If this wasn't available, these type of players who like to play but can't be on top of their game 100% likely wouldn't stick around.

World buff meta is the worst thing about SoD and WoW Classic (vanilla) and is the reason I quit SoD. It's so dumb that you need BiS everything, need to spend a lot of gold on consumes and get your world buffs for baby content you could do with several people missing. SoD is easy and has always been easy. Tryharding easy content is just silly.
Madseason has got rank 14 in vanilla PvP so he's more leet than mythic raiders. You're basically just slandering him for no reason other than being petulant and hateful.
@icebox1954 Rank 14 is easy. Why it's hard is you need to spend 500 hrs in battlegrounds which is cancer. I find most players who only play Classic find TBC-Cata content too hard. I'm 13/13 HC in Cata and there's apparently only 10000 players out of 300k that have achieved a full clear. There was more Rank 14s in Classic than that by miles.

i went farming mounts and i realize my alt from bfa got 90ilvl most of my items are 78ilvl and icc is dropping 115 ilvl :D im getting upgrades in icc lol

Madseason's content has been super duper negative about everything for the passed year or so it makes it hard to watch and he seems really anti-QOL i think he feels like those people that are like "well i paid my way through college so no one should get help paying for it"

I was in the #2 guild to kill KT in vanilla 2006.. we never fully world buffed until loatheb. I dont remember if we used DM buffs but potentially some ppl did. But it wasn't a requirement. But we stacked heads for loatheb->kt

The problem with Sod is the bloat. Too many runes, too much dmg, too much healing, everyone is too op. and obviously the elite meta culture destroys it ALOT, if not THE MOST too. But dial all the things back alittle and we have a good classic +. Btw, what they should do is open up more class combos! Hell tf yeah! Human Hunt come on now!
The SM spam and alot of other player behavior issues are startrd forming back on P servers like Lights Hope and Nostralius. We were hitting a point where the sweaty degenerative players had run through the classic experience 50+ and were starting to optomize it to an extream and some of that slowly trickled down to the casual audiance.
He really loves talking about how bad boosts are, barely anyone likes boosts, just dont use them like everyone else. Also he completly misses the point that blizzard makes changes to the game to keep up with the majority of its audience and the majority of the audience are all 30ish now and we have jobs and families so we dont have time to log on to wow for 6+ hours a day anymore so the streamlining of things like dungeon finder just helps people progress in a shorter amount of time because we only have like 2-3 hours to play the game after work and family and gym and other irl things.
The people who yell no changes, I feel like they want to be miserable playing the game, or they're hypocritical, lol. You don't want the Blizzard UI quest markers, but you'll download Questie, which is the same thing. You don't want 60 min buffs, but 5 min where you have to rebuff before every boss or after trash packs rather than at the beginning or after a wipe? You dont want transmog, but you'll take worse stats to not look like dogwater (they claim its to show what you've done, but clearly dont know transmog is from pieces you've actually obtained) idk.

Bro for all its faults and blizzards faults I’m having an absolute blast playing SoD. Its made me try classes I’ve never touched before meet some new people that are pretty chill. I think people just like to constantly complain versus live in the moment and just enjoy themselves. We take ourselves too seriously in a game that literally does not mean anything in the real world. I’ll take some friends to chill and laugh with over sweating my ass off like I used to any day of the week now. Additionally, they should just merge the serves at this point they have the tech for it honestly.

Most of the "social" issues are bs in my opinion, You can still talk to people in retail and you can never interact with nobody in classic until end game and have done everything the game can offer you solo, it's just people who have changed blizz have many issues but they were consitent on one aspect of the game the whole time the game is friendly towards "casuals" and will continue to be even more casu friendly , vanilla was the most casual mmo out there for it's time and the only times that wow felt really bad was when the game took ages to gives us content or when it was focus around the hardcore players , that 1% that everyone likes to watch but nobody wants to be, forcing us to do shores every single day just to be accepted into basic end game content and not feeling completly useless , you can still make your bff if you talk in retail and it doesn't cost you that " 1 minute" (more like a fing hour of spamming the chat) the fact that dungeon finder or raid finders exist doesn't put a dent in the social aspect of the game if you belive otherwise I think that you are hard coping, ff14 leveling is the easiest shit i've ever done and I don't like the universe of FF14 but god damn it i've talked to so many people , /sit in Ul'dah or Gridania just to listen to someone playing it's instrument or watching a whole band going at it speaking to others and RPing like a retard when I hate RPing normaly , the game just knows how to make you want to talk to other people other than old ass limitations, there is dungeon finders , raid finders , group finders in FF14 but people are still talking to each other over there. we all know what Blizz needs to do if they want the social back into wow : more emotes, bards classe or usable instrumentals , HOUSING FFS BLIZZ HOUSING IS GOOD, Casinos ...like blizz fr you have goblins since vanilla and no casinos ? crrrrrringe, you could even do a real brothel in wow it's not like your lore wasn't rdm orc decapitates rdm human every two days and evil demons tortures and enslaves people and some people are willingly corrupting themeselves riping they eyes off in order to kill those demons etc etc , I think we can handle having official whores in the game and if not that just some sort of a really cool and RP friendly nightclub or wathever, in fewer words : blizz , blizz please go back to do blizz thing and STEAL what others are doing and make it even better.

But I would have to disagree and say RDF definitely dented the social aspect of the game. The decline of WoW's social aspect is not entirely the fault of RDF though and definitely comes down to the mindset of the wow community.
Back in 2019 classic you had to find a group to do any dungeon/raid/group quest which meant talking to people. Whether this came in the form of General/Trade/Guild chat you still had to interact with someone at some level to get things done. I made heaps of friends in 2019 classic and even met two people who I dated for a while (8 and 10 months respectively), from doing group content or chatting in guild. When TBC released I remember questing and doing dungeons with friends/guildies and chatting the whole time in discord and such. Even towards the end of TBC you still had to find people to do heroic dungeons. Wrath was very similar to TBC in that you had to find groups yourself and interact with people. One of the highlights of Wrath for me personally was the P1 levelling and Pre-Raid gearing.
All of that said, I mentioned for TBC and Wrath that you had to 'interact' with people, but that doesn't mean you would chat the whole time or make friends. More often than not when you made a group for a Heroic/Alpha/Beta you wouldn't really talk after the fact. It would be a matter of go in, clear dungeon, get out. With the introduction of RDF in P4 of Wrath, you don't even have to find a group. Click a button and you wait.
The issue with RDF is that the 2024 WoW player mentality is to only do things in the efficient way possible. I could want to jump into a dungeon and chat to people, but you more often than not don't get a reply. If we're being honest about it all, when you queue for RDF solo you get a 15% damage/health/healing boost to speed up the content (pug protection). You are actually given a choice of "Do I queue with friends" or "Do I blast dungeons ASAP". Unless you are getting hard carried the best way to level/gear a toon is actually solo.
The 2024 WoW player mentallity of "Option B Sucks because A is better" is also the reason why a lot of people don't always play the way they want too. However that is a seperate issue.
I'll admit I haven't touched FF14 since 2019 or 2020 but from what I do recall that game is far less End-Game oreinted. People play FF14 because they enjoy the socialising, the MSQ, the universe or those other activities you mentioned like housing. The fact as you mentioned is that WoW does not have all of those. WoW is quite literally get cappped, get gear, raid log. Or at least it has been all of classic. You can honestly compare WoW and FF14 .
Don't get me wrong I don't think RDF should go. It's super convenient to be able to queue content whenever you feel like it. But the Hard Cope is saying that people don't socialise less because of it.
Guys it was fun to play when it launched 2019 but ppl dont wanna play the same stupid shet for their whole life we cant be all playing vanilla for the rest of our life, its a stupid boring game just go do something else.

Season of Mastery was 100% better than SoD. No world buffs was the best raiding ever. SoD completely ruined the game for me. Its just not really classic anymore

@@user-eb6gr1ux6w World buffs are both cringe and cancer and so are the people defending it. All the new SoD phase features suck. The supposedly free-for-all PvP thing was exclusively group content, the nightmare realm was tedious and ruined the economy.
The same classes as Vanilla Classic were the meta every phase again.

I think classic SoD could have been better if they just added content but didn't do such crazy class changing. Making for example rets and ferals awesome in classic.. or balance.. or just improving the specs that were absolute shit.. would have been all that was needed to make a game ppl feel is similar and to some better than the original
