This is not WoW related, but if you ever go back to FFXIV to play Dawntrail, the last zone for the expansion is very good, and if you have experienced “life events,” it will really make you reflect on life. Not going to lie, but the first part of the zone had a story beat that made me cry due to a life event I personally had.
WoW doesn't need saved. Just needs improved. Wow has dominated the MMO genre since 2004. The game is still incredibly populated especially for a 20 year old game. WOW doesn't need saved it just needs improved in certain areas and blizzard has done a good job doing that throughout dragonflight until now.
I don't know... I don't think they can bring back the progression/growth feeling. You start already beefy, "The Hero", numbers are huge, you progress only 10-20 levels in a whole exp and that's a flyover rush. I don't think that will work for me. A story can be as good as they want, if your character's progress is 1-3 days of chore quests, you started big and finished marginally bigger/different and then you go grind for gear... it just doesn't captivate people.
The followers is obviously something I suggested long time ago. I knew the life span of WoW was going to kaputt from the dwindling population so I did suggest that players can have mercenaries or bots that take up roles your party doesn't have. Now the issue with this is well it will encourage players to party less. Now see followers should be far less competent than players. That way grouping is still more optimal
So if i understand correctly i need to go trough all the game until i can start the war within? Or does it also directly affect the Wow when i start at level 1?
When you buy tww you can boost a character to start the war within immediately, or you level in a few sessions through dragonflight to 70 then do 70-80 in TWW. Very easy to access
They talk about letting, giving players options to play how they want...yet where is my option to level up at a slower pace, to enjoy it gradually from lvl 1 as befits an MMORPG? How am i suppose to enjoy anything when leveling is stupidly fast without a choice and world offers n o sense of danger? I don't need it to be like classic, i just hate being rushed to endgame.
Thats because the entire game is based on end game "Leveling" is a relic they probably wish they could get rid of but cant. Its such a pointless waste of time. Nothing you do when leveling matters
For me WOW will not come back until they make community better and ban Addons GDKP etc. that anything should not exists in a heathy game. The problems for WOW are not just about the new contents but also what policy they should have for running a game as a company.

The war within is copy of Dragonflight with added dwarves. I think people will get bored quickly. They also added a new toregast which is one of the most hated features of all time. I’m not bullish on TWW.
I think you are wrong. I think the updates to M+, PVP, Delves etc are going to be really good. the Hero Talents really add flavor and some OP aspects to some classes.
Storywise, I have so little faith. Dragonflight was extremely mid. It is 7.0/10. It was more of a display of "we're listening" and it was used as a filler so they could focus on the future. I have hope, but ive been playing since vanilla, and I'll probably play anyways. I dont like that they're saying they used shadowlands and dragon flight for future stories. Dragonflight was ok, story was not good or compelling.
The funniest thing about you saying WoW is doing well/better is that you don't play DF at all, you (at least on stream) have played it maybe 1-5% of your streams since it was launched? If it was doing good or better at all you would likely be playing that instead of Classic/HC almost exclusively right? lil edit: i think retail is in a pretty fun place to play as like a solo open world game, pretty shit in terms of MMO gameplay as you don't need to speak or interact with another player at any point, kind of similar to running dungeons/duties/dailies in FF14

They have interesting stories going on, like the eventual fight against the light, the new cosmic power and the order titans not being as good as we thought, all these are good ideas, but they keep messing around with stories that nobody cares 😂.

This idea is dogshit. That would have been the biggest «fuck you» to the ones who has been folowing the story since WC1 (1994)! They need to just wrap up the story by the end of The Last Titan, and conclude everything that has been in a good, quality, respectful way- and then after that, maybe do a timeskip for like a 1000years (from which Azeroth has lived in peace) or something with a complete new set of characters and story and a whole reboot of the game from there. Anything else is uther foolish to be honest.
They could of course make iconic elves and draenei characters make a return for the new story since they probably live for 1000s of years, but let WC1-TLT be the «skywalker-infinity saga» it is meant to be.

People need to stop expecting this patch or expansion will save WoW, it's like expecting getting a girlfriend will save your life. Retail WoW is what it is, good and bad, it can never go back to the glory days even through classic expansions, times have changed and the game has evolved. Just take A War Within for what it will be, lower expectations and try to have fun and if you don't, that's okay too.

It's not the same game as it used to be and for me the game is unsaveable. I haven't played Retail since Legion and after that I was soooo done with it. Now I rather play the classic Era or SoD.
I dropped WoW years ago, mainly because it feels too lacking and inconsistent (besides also the focus on hardcore players instead of the rest of the community). But something that would gain me over is if they dropped the lack of customization, I'd probably start subbing again. I wanna play a Dracthyr DK or DH for instance, that would be fun and interesting, that and dropping faction restrictions altogether (it should only be an RP thing now, not a gameplay thing anymore). There're 0 reasons to keep class/race/faction restrictions (No, lore is not an excuse, they keep retconning sh*t up, they can just make a lore justification for everyone being able to be anything)
Couldn't agree more. Unless general pop culture allows male/yt male characters to be strong and masculine, then all pop culture stories will be soy. No way that Blizzard would be the first to kick the trend, and actually write cool male characters
The issue with WoW2 would be, that this current dev team isn't good enough in their design. Just look at the talent trees, for me it isn't really a talent tree, its either doing more single target damage or aoe, for almost every class, talents should be way more meaning and impactful in terms of your playstyle, it needs way more customization.
