Love the tip about the corn starch!! I made so many different concoctions which are completely lovely but have been searching for a way to leave a bit less oily feel. Great tip, thanks so much. Happy holidays!
Seriously great video! Very professional. Finally someone who gets to the point without jabbering on and on. Great recipe! I will definitely try it and look forward to more videos.
Hi there. I made this but I have to say I found the cornstarch a strange ingredient to add to this. It has funny feeling on the skin and doesn't let the product sink in really or that there is too much of it in. In any case I may try this without that component. Just please I made a quarter of the measurements first to see how it shapes up. Any reason you don't use bee's wax instead?
Hi there! It can be left out as well. This was a recipe I found online and wanted to try for myself. The cornstarch is used to help reduce the oily feel on the skin which beeswax does not do which is why this ingreidnet is in the recipe. Beeswax will make it a much harder consistency. Beeswax can be used too but for a different purpose. Thanks for posting your results and comments about the recipe as it may help others decide what they want to use. ~ROBYN~
I suppose you could add whatever you would like in your own formulation. The normal shelf life of the ingredients I used will allow it to last several months especially since there was no water used. I have only used vitamin e and some plant extracts for any type of antioxidant or preservative. Thanks for watching! Robyn
I was wondering. Can u use tapioca or arrowroot starch in place of cornstarch? I ask due to corn tends to cause yeast infections on the skin. Thank you!
Hi there! I am sure you can use either one. I was following a recipe I found online so I just used what the recipe called for. Arrowroot might be a nice to try. Thanks for watching! ~ROBYN~
I love this video. I would ❤️ to make it however i don't have most of the essential oils nor the whipping machine. Any ideas 💡 on substitutions? Thank You 😉 for ur videos.
Ambar Vera use an electric mixer to whip it and with the fragrance you don't have to add them it's just to make them smell nice you can add lemon or orange juice freshly squeezed or try adding rose petals :)
Hi Petra, and yes to your question. Well let me rephrase that. It will stay firmer up to 92 degrees unlike most coconut oils which soften and liquefy at and above 76 degrees. I'm not sure if the body butter will be firmer in general as I have only used coconut oils which typically melt at 76 degrees. ~ROBYN~
You could even just use one essential oil. You can add as many drops as you want too, whether that's 30, 60, more or less. You could probably replace jojoba oil. You don't have to do it exactly like she does in the video is what I'm saying.
Body butters don't need preservatives unless they are made with water. An anhydrous product like this can last as long as the shelf life of the ingredients used. I usually recommended using within the shortest shelf life within the ingredients used.
@@MyCherriCola got it! Thanks. 😊And just in case i want to make it little less oily, is it ok to add water or aloevera gel with the same ingredients plus some preservative?
Hello & thank you for making this wonderful video! I'm hoping to make this today, I have everything but the alkanet root infused oil, where can I find that since my grocery store doesn't seem to know what it is, and what can I use to substitute for it today? Any suggestions would help :). Thank you!
Hi Monica, I'm not sure what else you could you but maybe a beet root powder? Alkanet root powder is available online through many different companies. Do a Google search for it and see who you would prefer buying it from. Since you are making it soon you may not have time to use a natural coloring since an oil infusion needs to be done first. Thanks so much for watching! ~ Robyn ~
Would you be so kind to post the ingredients quantities in ounces ...thank you..jane p.s may the cornstarch be substituted with arrowroot powder? GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!
sitarebalbali Hi there, using very "low" heat to just liquify the oils isn't a problem. Most coconut oils will melt near 80° so it doesn't need much heat to melt it.
Christine Hoersten Hi Christine, I stored my in my bathroom but the biggest thing to keep in mind is the temperature of the area where you plan to keep it. I use coconut oil that has a melting point of 76 degrees. A temp near and above that will cause it to soften and melt. Thanks for watching!~ Robyn ~
Hi Christine, no, not at all. Whipping it is not necessary for it to work. Just poor it in a sterile container in its liquid state and let it sit for 24 hours or until it solidifies completely. Keep in mind that coconut oil will soften and begin to melt at temps that are at and above 76 degrees. If your home tends to be warm, you may want to store it in a cool area or in the frig. ~ROBYN~
Yes, I do make my own body butters but generally not whipped (yet). I have never used corn starch and did not think of using it though it probably works just as well. Do you use non GMO corn starch? Hard to come by since almost all corn is GMO.....I don't think I can whip mine using the recipe I use...................may look for organic corn starch. Thanks.
Adding a bit of fresh vitamin E will help preserve and is filled with antioxidants which s amazing for your skin as well but I find it best to make smaller jars to always have a fresh batch on hand. You can always substitute the jar for whatever you have on hand as long as it has a nice tight seal and you have sanitized it.
renu sethi if u want to put glycerin in then you need to make it a lotion. Glycerin is water based so you will need emulsifying agents and a preservative in it
Hi there, No, the frig is not necessary unless your home is warm. This body butter will show signs of softening when kept in temperatures in the mid and upper 70s. It will melt with higher temps. Thanks for watching! Robyn
Mareisa Marshall The shelf life depends on the ingredients you use and their shelf life. As a guideline I would use the ingredient with the shortest shelf life used in the product. petroleum jelly is actually pretty bad for you, not to mention that it's a byproduct of gasoline... But no, this will not leave you're skin. It will actually absorb into your skin, moisturizing all layers (unlike "commercial" lotions).

Add shea butter also for a less oily feel and whipp it for a little bit longer.
there is also Mango butter. You probably know this by now as it is a year later. Lol. Oops
does it ever melt down to a liquid when it's in the Jar? like what coconut oil does?
nice. think you for your clear ly writing of the receipe.
Do you prefer the blade over the whisk attachment on your KitchenAid for body butters?
TheMobileSpaByTracy The blade because as the body butter thickens it gets all stuck in the whisk.
