    Hi there. I made this but I have to say I found the cornstarch a strange ingredient to add to this. It has funny feeling on the skin and doesn't let the product sink in really or that there is too much of it in. In any case I may try this without that component. Just please I made a quarter of the measurements first to see how it shapes up. Any reason you don't use bee's wax instead?

    • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  10 лет назад

      Hi there! It can be left out as well. This was a recipe I found online and wanted to try for myself. The cornstarch is used to help reduce the oily feel on the skin which beeswax does not do which is why this ingreidnet is in the recipe. Beeswax will make it a much harder consistency. Beeswax can be used too but for a different purpose.
      Thanks for posting your results and comments about the recipe as it may help others decide what they want to use.

    • @MyCherriCola

      I suppose you could add whatever you would like in your own formulation. The normal shelf life of the ingredients I used will allow it to last several months especially since there was no water used. I have only used vitamin e and some plant extracts for any type of antioxidant or preservative.

    Robyn, would the body butter be firmer if one used 92 degrees coconut oil?

    • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  10 лет назад

      Hi Petra, and yes to your question. Well let me rephrase that. It will stay firmer up to 92 degrees unlike most coconut oils which soften and liquefy at and above 76 degrees. I'm not sure if the body butter will be firmer in general as I have only used coconut oils which typically melt at 76 degrees.

      @MyCherriCola  4 года назад +2

      Body butters don't need preservatives unless they are made with water. An anhydrous product like this can last as long as the shelf life of the ingredients used. I usually recommended using within the shortest shelf life within the ingredients used.

I'm hoping to make this today, I have everything but the alkanet root infused oil, where can I find that since my grocery store doesn't seem to know what it is, and what can I use to substitute for it today? • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  8 лет назад

      Hi Monica, I'm not sure what else you could you but maybe a beet root powder? Alkanet root powder is available online through many different companies. Do a Google search for it and see who you would prefer buying it from. Since you are making it soon you may not have time to use a natural coloring since an oil infusion needs to be done first.

      @MyCherriCola  9 лет назад

      Christine Hoersten Hi Christine, I stored my in my bathroom but the biggest thing to keep in mind is the temperature of the area where you plan to keep it. I use coconut oil that has a melting point of 76 degrees. A temp near and above that will cause it to soften and melt. Thanks for watching!~ Robyn ~

    • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  10 лет назад +2

      Hi Christine, no, not at all. Whipping it is not necessary for it to work. Just poor it in a sterile container in its liquid state and let it sit for 24 hours or until it solidifies completely. Keep in mind that coconut oil will soften and begin to melt at temps that are at and above 76 degrees. If your home tends to be warm, you may want to store it in a cool area or in the frig.

      Adding a bit of fresh vitamin E will help preserve and is filled with antioxidants which s amazing for your skin as well but I find it best to make smaller jars to always have a fresh batch on hand. You can always substitute the jar for whatever you have on hand as long as it has a nice tight seal and you have sanitized it.

      Hi there,
      No, the frig is not necessary unless your home is warm. This body butter will show signs of softening when kept in temperatures in the mid and upper 70s. It will melt with higher temps.
      Thanks for watching!
      Robyn

    • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  7 лет назад

      Mareisa Marshall The shelf life depends on the ingredients you use and their shelf life. As a guideline I would use the ingredient with the shortest shelf life used in the product. Keep in mind how old the ingredients are that are being used. If the coconut oil used is already a year or more old, you'll have to keep that in mind with how long your product could remain fresh. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!

      Emma Maldonado If you skin is very, very dry, consider increasing your water intake. The recommended amount is half of your body weight in ounces., so if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink 75 ounces of water each day. You will see a huge improvement in the quality and condition of your skin.

    • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  3 года назад

      Hi there! Thanks for watching. If you have very dry skin, using products made with emollient ingredients are best. Water does little for dry skin. Emollients are ingredients that soften the skin and seal in moisture by creating a protective barrier on the surface of the skin. Here are some emollient rich ingredients that are wonderful for dry skin.

    I don’t have a blender so wont whisking with a fork work?

      It is emulsifying and adding air to the product like when you whip cream, I believe.

      Rosie isadog I purchase from various suppliers and for the past two years I made the switch to organic. If you are in the US you can search for organic suppliers or just search for the ingredients of your choice and you'll find many to choose from. Thanks for watching!

      +Bafiala Kalemba Just to let you guys know, you can also use arrowroot powder or tapioca starch. All 3 work pretty well in anhydrous body creams/butters...although they will always be somewhat greasy due to the nature of the ingredients. :)

    is it necessary to use corn starch???

    • @meo4849
      @meo4849 7 лет назад

      teetee me it's optional but corn starch reduces the greedy and oily feeling on your skin rather than not using it on your recipe.

      Hey their are many different powders you ca use to reduce oil if you don't like cornstarch. Check out my channel. I use organic tapioca starch and it works wonders.

      teetee me Hi and thanks for watching! No, it's not necessary at all. The cornstarch was used just to reduce the oily feel a little from the coconut oil. You can eliminate it and it will still turn out fine.

      The cornstarch makes the body butter less greasy

    • @MyCherriCola

      J Goh Thanks for replying J!

    • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  9 лет назад

      KoshaNicole Hi there! The reason is exactly as J Goh commented. Since this body butter is all coconut oil it tends to be a little bit greasy feeling on the skin. The corn starch helps absorb the oily feel so you have more of a silken feeling after applied it to the skin. Corn starch should be used lightly as it can add somewhat of a texture to it especially is overused.Thanks! ~ ROBYN ~

    Haii, is there ANY CHANCE that you can make candy floss smelling hand cream or know who does show how to make it or know a website that shows how to make it or know an actual product?!

    • @MyCherriCola
      @MyCherriCola  9 лет назад

      Coca Cola Hi there, if you are looking for a candy scented product then you may need to use synthetic fragrance oils. I only use essential oils so I you may want to try peppermint oil maybe with some orange and/or vanilla oil.Thanks for watching!~ Robyn ~

    • @MyCherriCola

      It is used mainly to help reduce any oily feel on the skin. It can be left out of the recipe. Thanks for watching!
