Sailing the Baltic Sea: From Stockholm to Rosättra on a Norlin 34 #67

- Welcome to the Baltic Sea! :D
When our friend Andy from @59NorthSailing found himself having to spend more time in Sweden than he had planned for, he decided to buy a small boat to keep in Sweden and sail the Baltic with.
Introducing: Spica! A Norlin 34 that was specifically designed to sail the famous Gotland Runt race in 1977.
Andy needed to sail the boat from Herräng Marina down to Rosättra, a part of the Baltic archipelago North of Stockholm. With no hesitation, we packed our bags for a two days sail and headed towards Uppsala to join Andy, and had a fantastic weekend on the water.
Enjoy!

WTF! I am soooo behind! Great to see the water and wind work it’s magic on you; it does the same for me. And Andy and Mia sneaking another boat on the roster!?!. Sail on!
I love your honesty Sophie. No one feels entirely sane during a deadly pandemic.
I'm am so glad to see you 2 back on the water.... thanks for sharing ... hope to see you on polar seal soon.
You disappeared on You Tube but you suddenly reappeared. Nice to see your shows again. Good food makes a good sail, Hi from Minnesota.
So lovely to have you back Sophie. 🇦🇺
Sophie: "it feels like an eternity since I have walked on a dock"....we will NEVER forget the "dock dance"
Don't do yourself down Sophie, you made whipped cream when you were sailing AND you boiled some potato's:-) I mean come on:-) Great to watch you both after your challenging experience in lock down, returning to a sailing boat and being on the water, and it still giving you that magical feeling and the realization of just how much you have missed it.
thanks for posting
Absolutely awesome to see Ryan & Sophie under sail again!!!
Great to see you back on the water. The “natural habitat feeling” comment is probably what sums it up the best.
It is Sunday morning on the North Carolina Coast as I watch this...the music...wonderful!...the video is put together so nicely! Calming and significant, if that makes any sense...thanks for your narrative Sophie!
Ms Sophie , it's cute to see how happy and amazed you are that you have 30K subscribers / truth be told you and Ryan are so much fun to watch ,
you deserve at least 150K ! subscribers . It was also funny that you didn't bleep the Merd that slipped out with the potato from the pot ;-) lol ;-)
That was really nice! I'm missing Sweden and missing the Stockholm archipelago. Thanks for sharing that sail. Oh, and btw I'm totally nerding out on Andy's podcasts lately. :). cheers!
The whipped cream part was funny! Glad you guys got the chance to sail again!
I have missed you sooooo much Sophie......Keep the videos coming. Can't wait till next wee..
I like the solar panel on Spica, nice example of Swedish minimalism.
Loved the red nail polish, until the sandwich! Haha. Missed you guys. I’m sure more to come. Stay safe. Best wishes.
I’m so happy for you guys! A little water time AND you’re going back to Polar Seal. What a terrific update. Safe travels.
You've come a long way Sophie as a yachtie. A long way. So has Ryan.
So nice to see you in your happy place again. I think I have missed your sailing adventures almost as much as you guys have. Hope PolarSeal will be next.
Hi Sophie; so glad to see your smiling face; sorry you got seasick I used to get sick after an hour out on the ocean; found out; a beer stopped it right now! Missed you guy's something fierce . Love you♥
Damn, You don't know how much I have missed you two. I know what its like to not be on a boat for a while. I have been sailing since 1979 and now I find myself without a boat. So find myself begging for rides on a friends boat. Your Iowa friend Capt VR
Apart from the whipped cream, did you whip the boys into shape LOL.Must have been good to be sailing and not worry about being in charge .Well done Sophie and Ryan to see your happy face as well .
I walk the docks at the marinas in my area when felling stressed out. Always helps me feel better. Owning a boat will be next.
That was a very nice posting! There's a lot of work, effort and acquired skill gone into producing that; more than I'm capable of appreciating. (Crikey ... she likes cooking too!)
Great to see you folks back sailing. We didn't realise how much we had missed your videos.
Back to Polar Seal ! Fantastic! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We’ve missed you Sophie!! And we will stay tuned for sure!
That was a great video Sophie. Your great humour is back and we just look forward to you getting back to Polar Seal.🌬⛵⚓😎
Things are changing for the better welcome back!!😊😊
What a sunset!
Its so good to see you both on a boat again.
So fun to have heard about Spica on one of Andy’s podcasts and then see you guys sailing on her.
Hi, well whipped Sophie ,keep the guys in their right place and well fed .NO induction cooker ? Ryan tell them how to do it . Another great video ,thank you all .
Sophie's Cooking Tip #12: When whipping cream by hand, wear your smart watch on the same wrist. It will think you're jogging and bump up your step count.
Happy to see you guys onboard again. Even if short, it must have been a great experience.
Sophie your joy and contentment at being back close to a boat and the water was palpable. It brought a smile to my face. here's hoping you can soon get back to Polar Seal and start with the voyaging again. Best wishes from the UK.
Wonderful!
So nice to see you and Ryan and the sailing and great editing. Welcome back!
Thanks guys! Hope your doing well. (ryan)
Well thats the best cure for the winter blues... Nice to see you both in your happy place. Cant wait for the trip to Polar Seal episode :)
Good to see you, Sophie!
Cool seeing you back....great video....Sophie, you're an awesome host and narrator!! love your work and all its quirks!!
Im enjoying to watch you guys
wow, sailing on the Baltic. As a Latvian living in America, I do miss it. Sophie, you miss boat life? Wow, do you have a sister?? I have recently discovered your channel and am slowly binge watching it. You two are fabulous. My new favorite.
I hope when I get my yacht, I can find a woman like Sophie. Smart, great sense of humour, good looking and loves sailing. Ryan needs to man up and put a ring on that finger. Great women like Sophie are getting hard to find.
woohoo! sailing again. miss you guys.
Good to see you again
Great seeing you back on the water. Almost..almost..like being home isn't it? Enjoy
IMHO this is one of your best videos. It's something I can feel and relate to. Thank you guys)
Sophie is getting really good at the videos! ryan
Awesome video! You guys are rockstars!
"I made whipped cream". Enough said!
Andy is such a cool guy. He knows his stuff 👍
He sure does!
Tony & Susan here, We are happy to see you in better spirits. It won't be long now and you will get back to your boat. For sure
What a sweet little sail. That anchor 😱
Nice boat
This was so much missed. See you in the next one! Take care
Really good. It is amacing, how much you miss your livestyle on your boat. Hearing all this Insight makes me really want to go ASAP too. In 3 weeks, my 4 years preparation and upgrading is done and the I will follow your lead as well. Thanks for sharing.
Sophie....I really laughed when you said "merde' when you spilled the potatoes. It is said that on prays, counts and curses in ones mother tongue.
Great episode!
I really liked this episode. Looked fresh different. I loved also to know SPICA and to see Andy from whom I am a Podcast fan. Thanks for sharing and hope to see you back in another boat soon.
Glad you enjoyed it! ryan
Really good video with excellent music
Nice to see a fisherman's anchor on board. RUclips sailors do love to go on about their "new generation" anchors.
Lovely to see you on the water! I’m an Aussie and sailed my Swan 38 from Dalsbruk via Sweden (Dalaro, Vasterwik, Oxelosund, Kalmar, Simrishamn) home to where we are living in the Netherlands in August. You had much better weather than we did! Sailing through the Kalmar Sund was freezing, rough and not at all pleasant!!!! Durbarry boots are wonderful!
Good to see you guys again. Wife and I talk about sailing Swedish west coast in our 25 footer next year. It should be beautiful as well.
Its fantastic sailing!
Great news I bet your looking forward to getting back home aboard Polar Seal something crazy 😀😀😀👍👍👍🐟🐟🐟🐟🌊🌊🌊🦞🦞🦞🦞
Haven't seen an anchor like that one in a very long time, brings back good memories.
Classic right?! Ryan
Glad to hear you're going to get back to Polar Seal in a few weeks. I have a survey scheduled for this week on a 37' monohull. I can't wait to be a fulltime liveaboard.
Its gonna be great!
I don't do any sort of the sailing that the two of you do. I just watch your videos because you seem like nice people.
Be well.
Wow, nice to see you sailing again. All that talk about boats and marinas. Ahh, I miss it too. I'm not sailing right now too, but I don't have a boat to go back to. Good luck.
Oh no... youll have to change that ;)
I am cold already, just watching you pack. Herrang is a place I have wanted to visit.. They have a very well know Lindy Hop dance camp in July. Hopefully someday. Heidi
Soooo good to see you sailing again :D
We have a tip to make whipped cream even more easily if you don't have a machine : you put the cream (as cold as possible) in an empty bottle, and you shake the bottle for a few minutes, until the cream becomes whipped cream ! It's working really well, and you can make it a game with your guests by shaking the bottle together, one after the other ;)
Nice! Ill make sure Sophie sees this comment :) Ryan
Good to see you two out on the water again. I have just made a video about sailing in Stockholm archipelago aswell
Oh awesome. We will have to check it out. Ryan
Good sail. Now let's hope you get back to Polar Seal.
Okay Miss Sophie Cousteau, put you on land and you feel like a fish out of water, welcome home!
Been waiting soooo long for you two to go sailing again. Time to get back yeah?
Johan and Malin on RAN had great weather in Sweden this past summer
Hi funny to see Herrängs Marina Brygga E as there is where we have our Hunter Legend. Sorry to have missed you , looked like you hade a good trip though.
So good to see both of you happy on a nice racing boat! (17:41 hydraulic boom vang!)
As you said at 14:21, "I really missed boat life!" with sparkling eyes while foot pumping water! ;)
BTW: May I ask how Spica's big sister, Polar Seal, is faring?
allo content de vous revoir sur l'eau
welcome aboard!
Never mind the Yankees about your cooking, they think mcDonalds is a restaurant LOL!
Yep, the cousins are a challenged lot.
Oh man... not all Yankees think this way. Ryan
Great vid! So... what’s Andy Schells T Shirt mean?
In Finland you pack only the swimming suit. Long pants are already on... :P
Correct ;) Ryan
Excellent musical choices!
Sophie, what watch are you wearing?
Its a Garmin something (its ryan here). She loves it and wears it all the time
Time to get yall to 50k subscribers
Sapphiresoopeven Eben sea sick your ate so beautiful an
Glad to see you sailing !
Do you have anybody looking after your boat ? Airing it out etc. the Wynns latest video is interesting on that score ! Cheers Warren
Nope... so ill be holding my breath when we get back
Nice to see you back with another sailing episode, in cold but beautiful archipelago. The Norlin 34 looks to be in great condition. Andy really found a treasure and a bit of living sailing history. I have owned a Linjett 32 and people at the yard is very helpful. Drake Paragon actually met with Ola and Caroline in Greenland and did a few episodes about his Linjett 35: ruclips.net/video/vMA6J8KSHkE/видео.html
I'm hearing very few Swedish accents on this boat... ;)
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
R&S how are youz not over 100k subscribers?!
To us it doesn’t matter so much the amount of subscribers, we’re just happy when people enjoy our videos or learn something from them 💜 (thanks for the compliment!) /Sophie
✨💯✨👍
Sophie you are so beautiful and nice :) finally you were at sea again.
What happened to Andy’s little 27’ boat? Too small?
I know what will cheer you up no end. make arrangements to go visit Vera on Ran II
the talk at the end, how did you get the whites of your eyes so blue 19:37
Allons Sophie... il aurait fallu que tu passes chez la manucure, avant le voyage... 😂😂😂😂
Vocals 11:00-14:00?
because nobody seems to put dates on their vids :-( i don't know where you all are at a particular time :-( but i do know that you, RAN and UMA are in the same geographical area and can JUST maybe get together. would be nice :-)
We have tried to meetup with RAN but they did not come all the way up to Stockholm. We are not really in touch with UMA. Ryan
@@RyanSophieSailing Also, Uma is "a mountain range" away, on the ocean side of Norway (Bergen and further north).
You both obviously miss sailing. Get back to your boat!!!
I thought the host was very condescending to Sophie.
good point :) The legendary Andy Schell stopped by a kitchen whisk :) ryan
