Just got my first dslr yesterday, your videos make the comprehension process so much easier, I just fiddle along with the camera as you explain stuff and it honestly has been a huge help. Thank you.
Where have you been all my life?? Geez, I have taken numerous photo classes but I learned more in this short video than I did in hours of mind numbing classes. THANK YOU!
Thank yo so much for making these videos. I just bought a canon T3i, I want to start a real estate photography biz. I had been watching tutorials about my specific camera and I was totally lost, almost ready to give up. Now I have the basics to go back to those videos and understand what they're talking about! I signed up to be notified when your course is ready. As others have already said, you have great way of explaining things and I'm very grateful. Thanks again, Mark
I cannot tell you how much this helped me. I've had a DSLR for about 9 months now and have mostly used it in AUTO mode, which was just disappointing. After tinkering around with settings and ending up with the "$7 disposable camera" look, I finally told myself I was going to learn how to use the damn thing properly and found your video. Thank you so much! I took notes on your video and when I get home I'm grabbing my camera and going down to the lake to try out my new knowledge!
Dude, great work. It takes passion to put together something like this free of charge just with hopes to help others share the same passion with you. Bravo.
you know what, i was going to take a photography course and it was going to cost me 100 $ but, i decided to try watching photography tutorials and i've understand nothing so i decided again to take the course then i found your vedios, you ade everything cristal clear to me and you really helped me and i'm really greatfull for that. you are awesome :')
You managed to clearly explain my dslr to me in a way that no video or book has been able to yet! I am really looking forward to your course!!! all signed up! THANK YOU
This video really made me understand more about the functions. It is more clear than all my other photographer friends trying to explain these stuff to me. I hold a Canon 60D and I still am able to apply to my own camera functions. Looking forward to more tutorials. Thanks!
I watched all the previous videos about DSLR's, your videos have grown and it's clear that you have gained more confidence, in the video about White Balance you hardly looked at the camera. Great videos, keep it up! really useful and immensely informative. Thank you!
I absolutely love your lessons! I have a canon T4i and have just finally moved from automatic mode to manual but wasn't exactly sure what settings to use. This helped me out so much. Thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I know you have heard this all before, but you have made this crystal clear to me. You are a joy to listen to, and a fabulous teacher! :-) Thanks so much for posting these videos! I am getting soooo much more out of my camera now!
You are an absolute legend mate!! I have been searching for a good explanation about metering for ages now and finally you have explained it perfectly... thank you ever so much..
Thanks for the videos and good job explaining things in layman's terms. I was pretty much lost before your videos. After your videos, I was able to start experimenting in the manual mode under low light conditions with some degree of expectations. Now I know this new camera is going to be a blast for a long time to come.
great stuff brother...this is the kind of photography amateurs like us crave for.we dont have huge budget.i use the canon rebel t3i.and your videos are a boon for me,ty so much.learnt a lot from you :) keep up the good work man.pros never are too interested to reveal secrets, but you do ..hats off
Hey, just found your channel! I just got a Nikon D3100, and after only using point and shoots and my phone camera for over 10 years, I pretty much had to learn the basics all over again. I watched parts 1-3 all in a row and thought it was funny how much you age between each video! Haha :) Anyways, thanks for the helpful videos!
dear dude, this video realy helpd me to get a control on each of my clicks.First of al im a beginer in photography,so these series of videos helpd me a lot,nw im planing to buy canon eos 7d camera n wit these basic tips i think i cn improve my shoots, thank u,n u r so simple in explaining it,i wil keep in touch
Thank you for making this video. I never knew that light metering could be so helpful. =D I would love it if you would make a dedicated video explaining how to use flash effectively for portraits (bouncing off of walls, diffusing it, using it to take portraits with hard light from the sun interfering and so forth)
i so much agree with your comment man...totally true..even a phone cam comes handy at times.. people tend to misbelieve that every single type of camera can come handy :)
WOA...u made the videos so easy to understand, despite I already know most of the stuff you are talking about, but it's good to make sure what I know is right. You certainly produce very very nice images out of those dslrs and lenses u have...another lesson for me. Start playing with photography and not the gears gggrrrrrr
dude your vids really helped me a lot... they are all easy to digest and very simple to follow... btw i've got to ask.. is partial metering and spot metering the same??
Woah, you really helped me, i watched the whole video, you are like a teacher to me. You as a professional photographer, what camera would you recomended to me as a begginer, Nikon or Canon ?
I am using a Nikon D3000 and get most of the time that its a lame camara from peeps. here is the thing, ive been paying attention too your vids and learn more about my camara. funny part is that i shoot great pics and the same people ask wich camara i use now and when i say i still use the D3000 they look surprised. So in my oppinion is that it doesn't matter wich camara you use if its a beginners D3000 or a D3 Pro camara, its how you use the camara. i learn more from you then from books
Awesome tutorial! Just something I found odd: the exposure compensation bar has the minus on the right side and the plus on the left side (?)... I guess it's something you just get used to, like the zoom rings in some lenses (tamron) turning ccw instead of cw (canon, sigma, etc), or in/out (Canon 100-400mm). Great work, anyway!
One thing that we can do un the situation of the drums next to the window, if we want to take all the scene we could get is to apply my camera's highlight limit. For example if i know that my cameras blow out the white at 2 stops, set my Spot metering, put it over white anda set 2 stops overexpose (or 1.7) checking out that we didnt clip any highlight and, with the RAW, ríse the shadows of the drums and put down the highlights of the Windows. The camera can get much moré information from the light rather from the information it can get from the shadows
hi.. i have learned a lot from you.. please do a video on how to have a proper lights for portraits photos but with a limited budget.. it would really help a lot. thanks! :)
Im just wondering do you have a list of DSLR setting (eg. setting on this kind of time or wheather condition) where we could follow? tnx a lot! ur tips and tutorials are AMAZING, Im ur avid fan!
tres bon video et tres bien expliqué j`aime,,,,, very good video I like it ,,,,I folow you on you tube and you are very good I like what you do ,,,,,,, sory for my english
Hi I am new to photography. I have a canon 60D and I love taking pictures with it . Some are real nice but alot keep having too much light especially at the beach... all blown out.. I can get the person/subject and sand but the sea is hard to see any detail or little to nodetail at all.. Im slowlyy coming to terms learning how to use the 3 settings iso. shutter and aperture but still need alot more time to get it right. Im interested to learn more and eagerly await your course :)
I would have still shot at F8(or 5.6 minimum) on the handheld shot and bumped up the ISO extremely high and hopefully compensate with that. With today's PP software noise can be reduced a TON, decent lighting helps out noise performance as well.
I'm using a D3, yes, but I don't want to rely on it being the camera that it is. I want to be SUPER badass with it. Not even regular badass with it, but SUPER badass.
Alo extremist! your tut is amazing!.. dude i got a question whenever you can answer me. So i dont use lightmeter. I got same camera as you in this tutorial D600 nikon, i know how to work with iso, sh.speed and f.stop, but when it comes to flash , the icon with the flashbotton next to the exposure means everytime youll do a photo it will adjust in the middle stop? and what happens when you use a external flash or softbox? you camera can do adjustments? or you need lightmeter to make math? ....
Hello sir; How do I make the rear windows to stay longer on? mine stay only about 2 to 3 seconds and that's it, then I have to press the "info" bottom to light it back up again, hey, about that book of 4 lesson, I will get it but before I get it, are you going to have all the setting for outside photographic, sport, animal running, water falls, ect, ect? thanks Andy
Hi. What settings would you recommend in the following situation: taking shots of a MMA fight, generally low light, fast action and spot metering doesn't work because sometimes you need to focus on a spot where the fighters will be in the next second when they strike so don't have a subject to 'meter'?
I have really been enjoying your videos (I'm sure I don't need to tell you, but you really have a great way of explaining things!!!) I liked, I favorited, I subscribed, and I sent you my email contact for your course material
do you think that the d800's 36mp is too much? it will take up large files in your computer. is that a problem for you? Thanks for the tutorials i learned a lot more power :D
Hi Extremist.. I really like photography, but I have 1 question. What is the differences between these cameras?? I mean... you can take the same photos with both cameras.. but I just saw a lot of people with more than 4 cameras?? why its that?? PS: sorry for my english.. its not my main language
Just got my first dslr yesterday, your videos make the comprehension process so much easier, I just fiddle along with the camera as you explain stuff and it honestly has been a huge help. Thank you.
I love the way you explained and showed the different settings. There's no other out there that can explain it better than this one. Bravo!
Where have you been all my life?? Geez, I have taken numerous photo classes but I learned more in this short video than I did in hours of mind numbing classes. THANK YOU!
Probably the clearest explanation of the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO I've seen. Thanks.

I want to thank you for these tutorial videos. Being new to photography, I gained much good understanding of basics from your videos.
I absolutely love your lessons! I have a canon T4i and have just finally moved from automatic mode to manual but wasn't exactly sure what settings to use. This helped me out so much. Thanks!
I think that this was the best explanation of these things I've ever heard. Great job!
As a canon photographer, it seems so alien to see the EV scale with the minus on the right! Great video, enjoyed watching.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I know you have heard this all before, but you have made this crystal clear to me. You are a joy to listen to, and a fabulous teacher! :-) Thanks so much for posting these videos! I am getting soooo much more out of my camera now!

I've watched a few of your vids now man and you do give great explanations and examples of many aspects of dslr photography! thanks for sharing!
Thank you for making this video. The best explanation of the exposure triangle i've seen to date imho.
Thank you for these great videos! Clear and easy to understand instructions and examples. I can finally make the leap from 'auto' photos :)

Thanks man !
