- In this video I take you through a detailed configuration of the new CT5-V Blackwing. If you are interested in buying one or just want to spec out your dream car, follow along with me as I spec out mine! I'll go in depth into why you should be picking certain options. Manual vs automatic? Carbon ceramic brakes? Are some seats better than the others?
*UPDATE* I was incorrect about the electronic precision shift - it does not let you change gears on the auto trans. Only the paddle shifters are available for shifting!

No dinner table arguments, 2 girls + 2 boys and the wife all agree the manual is the way to go! Obviously we are raising them right. :). Wait did you say GT4 with a PDK, how could you? That is the perfect manual transmission car. After seeing the Z06 I would love to try a Vette but never without a stick. CT5V manual coming to garage near me! Jet Fuel is the only way to fly! Great video...
UPDATES:
1. I'm terribly sorry, I made a poor assumption about using the shift knob to change gears, you are limited to manual shifting the 10-speed via the paddles only!!
2. I've heard from a good source that the CT5-V Blackwings (both manual and auto) will have launch control! Maybe even a line lock feature!
Another GM price cut. And to keep your eyes on the road....or cell phone for the sheep who text and drive.

Fun fact regarding not getting what you expected with options....I know the 1970 & up Firebirds (excluding the Trans Am) did not come with the center console so if you didn't check that box your auto had the shifter on the steering column. I read there were many upset owners when their car arrived.

Better get the V3. You obviously don't appreciate the chance to own a manual BW.
I DO have one on order. Pretty similar to your build, with a few differences. Same color, Transmission & Wheels. NO Carbon Fiber package #2, Standard seats, Steel brakes. NO Performance Data Recorder. A few other minor differences here & there, but the biggest difference is mine is configured at roughly $15k less than yours. Due to low CT5 consignment at my dealer I probably wont receive a '22, so I'll have to update my order for '23. When I do I think I'll switch to the Black with the Bronze wheels & brake calipers. Since those wheels have something of a "Snowflake" pattern to them it reminds me of an old Burt Reynolds Trans Am. So maybe I'll name her "Bandit."

curious how long your dealer estimated for delivery for you? I got my 4 Blackwing in 4 months (Aug 2021- Dec 2021 wait) but placed an order for the 5 Blackwing with a local dealer last week and they said it could take up to 12 months for me to take delivery of a 2023. Not sure if that's because this dealer is tiny and doesn't get many cars sent to them or if it's indicative of the worsening supply chain.
@@maxverstappen2713 I said low consignment in my first post. What I meant to say was low allocation. Either way, the allocation is SO low at my dealership (They sell MANY Escalades, but very few CT4's & 5's) that recently I was told, despite being #5 in line at my dealer, I likely will NOT get a 2023 either, Despite the fact they aren't even building them yet! I'm now speaking to a couple of other dealers around the country and am seriously considering cancelling my order here, and buying one elsewhere. Plus, my dealer charges a $10k markup for the car and other dealers I'm speaking to have NO markup. Fine with me, I'll just fly over and drive it back... Also be aware, GM has gotten sneaky on the '23's. For example, if you want the "Parking Package" which includes the rear view camera (Which I have and like) for 2023 you MUST take Super Cruise, which I do NOT want. I'm also told, it you want a Carbon Fiber package, you likely won't get a '23 either. (Quick update as of January '23, my dealer has, so far, delivered a total of ONE CT5-V Blackwing. YES, I'm shopping elsewhere)

The Blackwing deal is SO unbelievable as a deal that it will be VIRTUALLY impossible to get your hands on one, guaranteed. Has anyone optioned out a M5 competition lately? You would literally have to be either extraordinarily wealthy or unbelievably ignorant of cars in general to even think about German machines with the 5 Blackwing on the same lot. Be prepared for some FREAKY lap times by both 4 and 5 Blackwings.

It’s usually “leatherette” for the other seating surfaces.
Great review but just try getting one. Mine has been on order for two years and still no build date is available.

I haven’t pulled the panels yet. But if you want to do logo lights there are none compatible. Some kits come with a drill bit to make a hole at the bottom, but not everyone wants to do that
What do you think of Infrared Tintcoat with the bronze wheels and bronze calipers? Too much contrast?

Yes you can option some of the seats to do all 3 items

@@JetFuelOnly I had the same question as nordic04... it is confusing that heated, ventilated, and massage seats are not mentioned anywhere in the configurator. So you're saying it's an option and not standard? And are all of those features available on all of the seat options?
Hey guys, I went to my sources for this and here’s the truth. All CT5-V BW seats are massage, ventilated and heated. Only top level CT4-V BW seats have cooling and massage added. This is why on the 5 configurator there isn’t much talk. But you can find that it exists in the standard features list outside of the configurator. However it’s confusing because it says something like “additional options may be required”
@@JetFuelOnly I really appreciate the follow-up. Even dealers I've asked haven't been able to tell me definitively; I was also confused by the wording they use outside the configurator you mention too. You've earned a new subscriber!

When Cadillac makes the AWD version it will certainly be a freaking Bear Beast. Like maybe even a polar/grizzly mixed with a demon dog
Unfortunately it won’t be coming. They decided it wasn’t worth the extra weight. I didn’t perform any better around the track
Carbon ceramic rotors should last the life of the car if it’s not tracked. But I wouldn’t buy them unless I was going to track the car as they are noise brakes in daily driving because they don’t have the heat in them they like. So you get a lot of squealing and noise from them. I’d just get a nice set of slotted and drilled zinc coated rotors and a really nice set of pads. But if you are gonna seriously time attack your car then you want those.
I priced one out for just under $108K for 2023

Can you lower a car with MR?
Yes. Latest generation has no issues with lowering springs
@@JetFuelOnly Thanks for the reply. Are you able to provide any information and/or links so I can start researching this? I lower all of my cars, so will be very interested in giving the BW a slightly lower stance.
BW Will need different springs… not sure if anyone has made any yet but one person has done airbags on their CT5-V non BW
Options add weight and cost. Just grab a stripper with superb handling tires
This is what id be getting. 6 speed, Recaros and call it a day. Dont need anythjng else
@@gustavo-gs6jy the factory seats are enough. Great tires and the stick, if you can row your own. I'm too tall to clutch n shift. But I do fit in the car. Your recaro seats would keep you in place whrn backroads burning. But I can live without them. Just want max handing/ braking g force tires. A lighter CT5 V is a quicker CT5 V.
@@bobdavis3357 one of the fellow BW reserve guys got to sit in both BW models and said he was able to shift push the clutch in no problem on the CT4. He’s 6’7 and 265

You can’t order the car with the carbon 1 and 2 packages, nor the two tone seats for $6k. Just picked mine up and wouldn’t have been able to order it with those items...
Exterior Colors? How's Rift Metallic? Apparently, we Skip the Rift.
You’re right. It is like a metallic version of Porsche’s chalk color. It looks good. I’ve seen it in person.

Kinda feel the same too. Pretty much due to the front end (headlight more particularly) in my opinion.
Automatic transmission keeps one hand free in case you need to grab something from your purse. 😜 Kidding folks. But seriously, don’t get the automatic.
If they chip your ceramic brakes I can tell you know they will not volunteer that information
Anyone who buys this car without a manual transmission should have their “car guy/girl” card removed. End of story…. Manuals are for the joy of driving, the whole point of buying a car like this. Want to go fast in a straight line… buy a Tesla.

Agreed. The manual option is the reason I chose to order this car vs buying a lightly used e63s or M5 comp. I wouldn’t have given a moment’s thought into buying a blackwing if it were auto box only.

Did you watch? I give tips and answer some questions that some people may have. It’s not always just about picking options, it’s about know exactly what you are getting. For example, not everyone understands the value or downsides to carbon ceramic brakes and I help people make that decision by covering the topic.

Overpriced , and needs more features , Like ambient lighting , Lighted Door sills , soft closing doors , door entrance lamps, passenger memory seats, AWD, all that other garbage I don't need
I think it probably has some ambient lighting, and lighted door sillslike the last Gen CTS (but maybe not). I agree on soft close, and pass memory seats. AWD they determined only made it slower around the track. I believe it was actually tested.
Your options were horrible. Not a chance in the world I'd buy the car you built. My Blackwing has the inferred tintcoat, sunroof, manual, and sueded steering wheel and shifter. The last happens to be the favorite of anyone sitting in the drivers seat, only second to the color from people looking from the outside.
The glory of personal preference! Two people can choose terrible options! 😹 Just kidding, as I said in the video the red looks good. Enjoy your car.
