for hatch breeding, you'll need to feed hatches sedimentary stone for increasing the chance of them laying stone hatchling eggs then you need to feed stone hatches raw metal for increasing the chance of them laying smooth hatchling eggs also, to keep drecko you'll need farm tile because they're fed on actual plants not item
nice challenge! i have two tips: 1 you can actually rotate your sweeper. might be useful in some areas. and 2, the maximum number of critters in a ranch is determined by the size. if you make the ranch the maximum size in a way so that the width of it is covered by a sweeper and you just go high after that, your sweeper can actually collect everything. your setup now can't reach the corners of the ranch. anyway, keep up the nice videos!
Your idea at 12:40 is awesome! You should try a base entirely set up like that! Only using low grade wire and using that automation on all manually ran machines.
Brothgar, I realized that shine bugs increase the light level, by an increased amount, when they're all in the same tile. I feel like you can make a good power system by shoving a bunch of shine bugs into a 1*1 glass box, and shove food in there using doors

As I see there have been many updates since then and I have no idea what they are about. So, if other people want it too, it would be nice to have a step by step tutorial about how someone can play this game and evolve his base. Anyway, keep up the awesome content and be well! :D
I started playing this game again because of you. I got a Meep last night too. I tried to do an algae terrarium thingy, and ended up flooding my base with food poisoning bacteria infected oxygen.
The pitcher pump doesn't need to be full length to work. I usually have a 3x1 tank. 2x1 for the straw and one tile for a liquid valve. Once the liquid valve is max pressure it stops so it never over flows. I know it's not related to automation but it's kinda self regulated

The conveyor receptacle has to be on a lower priority than the freezers (in this case), it works like a modified storage compactor and the auto-sweeper work exacly like a duplicant (it will move items from the floor or inventories of lower priority to inventories of higher priority or machines! Although it is still a bit buggy and sometimes it helps rechecking the storages of higher priorities not during a pause!
A bit late to the party here but in case you still were not aware of it at the current time. If you 100% a career with a Dupe it stays with them even if you switch them to another career. For example if you have your Researcher 100% the first part you can switch them to be a Gofer and they can still use the Super Computer. If you let them max out on Mining out of the gates you will never have to ever worry about switching them back and forth. This is why I love taking Dupes that have a high learning to start cause then you can literally have 3 Dupes that know how to do everything in the job tree and will pick new ones up quickly.
With all that water purification, coal power, and cooking. Your going to have cooling problems sooner than normal. You could set 1 of those bottle emptiers to a higher level but sweep only. They will only go to that emptier if you set the bottles to be swept up. Otherwise they will take to the other emptier on their own when they get to it.
The priorities between storage units needs to be different for auto-sweeper to do anything. Auto-sweepers will pull from lower priority storage and throw it into higher priority storage. You need to change the priorities, Brothgar.
what so brothgar in the part where you have the gas image can that same design be used so you can use less gas pipes coming into the base. so one pipe in and the pipe has sensors which separates the different gases to go into the different parts of the base it is needed. Also i just figured out that if i fill a room where a pure ore volcano (gold,iron or copper) is located with chlorine the heat from the ore doesn't transfer very well so a auto sweeper can be used to carry the metal to a cooling room which is the air condition design you made when trying to cook dirt for the triple printer challenge. Brothgar you have note solved the new prob with the oxygen system, door needs power to work properly so what design will you use to produce oxygen. The devs need to allow us to build modules which change the shape of the auto sweeper and the size. Didn't forget to save this comment, see brothgar i learnt my lesson
what he did with the excess water made by the toilet? I saw he used some for the algae terrarium, but I used for the same porpuse in my bas and now I am gutting excess water in the algae
hey, could you see how viable it would be to transport large amounts of gas by freezing it and using pumps and pipes to move it, you could even use it to make a bunch of bio-domes. that sounds like an interesting idea actually
Is the power transformer broken in the expressive update? I tried to setup the exact same setup where the power transformer is connected to the smart battery and bridge out to the separate circuit for the metal refinery with 2 battles and it doesn't seem to be pumping power out to the 2 batteries or the transformer itself. it shows 0 J.
A big concern of mine is having too much different gases pread throughout my base (I always keep it clean of Hydrogen and Chlorine) meaning I NEVER open those pockets of air with the drecko's, pincha's,... How do I get over this fear? :(

I would need help to find out how to survive with 10 dupes longer then 200 cycles, it seems like everythign is finally, except water. Also is there any way to automatic destroy blocks?
There are a few keys to a sustainable base. The first thing you want (depending on your world seed) is probably to find a cool steam geyser or two. The recirculating restroom will help extend your water supplies significantly, but you will run short without geysers. So start digging around! Second, you will need to switch away from mealwood for food when you can since your dirt supplies are limited and challenging to replenish. The easiest is probably going to be the fungal spores, they just require carbon dioxide and slime, both readily available for a long time. Bristle blossoms are also easy, but they take a good chunk of water so if you have water challenges you'll probably skip those. In the late game you might switch over to pincha peppers and sleet wheat after you've got your water and polluted water industries established. There is also ranching, but I've not done much with food ranching so I'm not sure how sustainable it is.
Thanks for your help. Water doesnt seem to be the problem till now, bc u get more and more the more dups u have. But now they changed the next food (the cold wheat thingy to also need dirt) you can get dirt now thru compost (dont know english name, srory) but this would not be enaught. I dont udnerstand how the devs think it should be played? With only 4 dups for a limited time? Or with 10 dups with half limited time? If they didnt limit us in width, we could just get more and more, but this way this game doesnt make sense bc i need to restart ever. Also slime will end. I also didnt think dirt will be out, i was shocked when it happend, and there was really no dirt avaible on map anywhere... my 14 dups all died.
@Brothgar should really talk to devs to make this game longer lasting. I dont understand why i should play when i know all will die anyway. And i dont like to make a new game every X hours.

if you make your ranch rooms vertical instead of horizontal, you will only need to use 1 sweeper per room that can grab all of the coal.

Only way i see is bristle blossoms. And pepper (but hard to make) and both destroy water. (which is completly dumb btw)
