If you want to automate your algae deoxidizers, simply add an atmo sensor above them and space them out. If you want to complicate it unnecessarily, which is always fun, you could do an algae delivery system spread around. Also, it may be time to move away from using algae terrariums, they take up a lot of time for duplicants to work and instead add a filtration station somewhere else since you have access to steam geysers now (you can change where the terrariums were into a carbon deleting chamber, more polluted dirt=more dirt). All up to your discretion however. Love the vids, look forward to them all the time!
I love it when you bake some 3D printer geeking into your ONI videos.. Its like when you're eating a delicious cake, and then you take a short break to enjoy some frosting.
Good tip for all the new players, his vertical ladders 2 blocks apart are suuuper inefficient haha, not just speed wise like he says Dupes can mine 4 blocks up and 3 down on a ladder So you can just make a ladder staggered every other block, and then horizontal ladders every 8 blocks (7 empty spaces in between each row And just have two normal vertical ladders on each end Like this: [ ]_[ ]_[ ] | | | | | | | [ ]_[ ]_[ ] ..or just get the chained deconstruction mod and deconstruct your entire ladder all at once (best solution haha) I just thought it was funny having those while he's doing masterwork on everything else
Been taking a LOT of inspiration from this series for my own world, just passed 800 cycles and still don't have completely renewable power set up! But at least what is there is fully automated ;)
I love that you're so awesome at this game it boggles my mind, but you still end up with the same little annoyances and unexpected problems that I always do.
Hey Brothgar! I had an idea that has been floating in my mind for a LONG time, and one thing I think it would be cool is to have a gas filtering and sorting system throughout the base. Each room would have a pump+filter and feed back the gas appropriate for that room, and it would send the remaining gasses to a unified gas chamber, which would have another pump and a bunch of sorting filters so it would send the various gasses where required (you could also special chambers for storing compressed gasses after they have been sorted).
You can get duplicants stuck inside the areas to force them to do whatever you need inside, just change door's permission system to let them not go back. And be careful with those hot volcanos, dont let them stay open to your base, it could cause a disaster if one of those gold or magma volcanos erupted.
If those natural gas generators in the ice biome are just for the one vent, you don't need more than 2. It's impossible for the vent to produce more than 180g/s on average (factor in dormancy and activity). However, you might need a lot of gas storage if you do that. I'd also not refine all your metal. I believe raw ore is finite and there's no way to reverse the process, whereas refined metals are infinite through either volcanoes or space.
I usually like to have 2 wheezeworts right next to my electrolyzers. Also, the Duplicants won't sweep or empty unless you have someone with it as a personal priority above other things. So it's important to just mess with the duplicant's personal priorities very carefully.
@Brothgar Have you ever made a centralized air filtration system? For example, strategically place mini pumps around the base with gas sensors. When Oxygen is not detected, activate the pump. Non-oxygen gasses get piped to a centralized filtration area with a number of tanks (one for hydrogen, one for carbon dioxide, chlorine, etc.). The gas is filtered and stored in the tanks for other uses. Tanks have pumps inside that can be switched on and off as that gas is needed for other things. The idea is to have a 100% oxygenated base but still being able to keep other gasses in storage. :D
I'm pretty sure the water was finding its way to the refrigerators due to the wonky air tile-liquid reactions. They are at the worst whenever a save is loaded, and you tend to get liquid passing through the air tiles.
with as much polluted oxygen as you have available it might be a good idea to revisit hydrogen bubblers, you could probably even do a good amount of precooling with a nullifier
Brothgar, if you use pneumatic doors to separate rooms, lock them open. That way dupes won't have to stop and open them manually every time they run by
Heya Brothgar, I am looking forward to you going in depth on the Ender 3. I have been considering jumping into 3D-printing for a while to help support my Arduino hobby. Loving all the printing and gaming content!
I noticed at 16:20 in or so when you said you couldn't build your conveyor rails for the mushroom farm... The part that you most likely can't build, is 5 tiles above the ground, a duplicant can't reach that high. And he can't build it from above because your farm tiles are also in the way. You need ladders above the storage, probably from the door on the right side, to ladder over and reach the rail.
For the hydrogen bottle, have you checked your job priorities? You can check either your Tidy or Supply orders for that to happen. And since you want to automate everything, you may not have your deliver as much as you need :)
You should do IF (raw metal > value) AND (refined metal < value) THEN RefineMore() to make sure you don't accidentally over convert your supplies. Especially since you've got that gold volcano now, shouldn't need to refine much gold
Btw, you mentioned something about using gravity to transport your dupes, after ~6 blocks, they take fall damage, so that's a no go unless us can use doors to automate it, but a fire pole would be faster...
13:19 Would it be better to rotate the internal support structure 45 degrees, so the printer only needs to move in 1 axis to make them? Or is a 2 axis motion better for some reason? (like, the dital travel time for a line is lower because it's 2 engines that moves instead of 1?)
You need a bottle emptier for the bottles of hydrogen. Also the dupes can’t reach the build above the metal refineries after deconstructing the ladders.
Did you forget that all Microbe Mushers use water to make meal lice bars and mush bars? Your automation is basically ejecting the contents of what's inside that Musher onto the ground, conveniently near the refrigerators. Soo, find a use outside of normal operating times to put that water somewhere else, or back into the water reservoir for the food. Dusk Cap Farm has unreachable builds, so no, it's not because of a Mechatronics Engineer. Honestly, I think you need to space out the dupe's living quarters because they're soo far from their origin-work points. Hmm, can you not Priority 9 an empty command if there's a sweep command over it? You'll eventually have to make Steel to protect thyself from falling rocks.
When you see your comment in Brothgar's Video. 27:00 MOM GET THE CAMERA! If you want to Empty something and want to put a Priority on it you can Sweep it. 30:50
I usually don't comment. But, water keeps appearing on your floor because the sleet wheat within them is thawing since they aren't plugged in. I hope this helps. although a door and a sensor uses less power.

I will soon start my automation challenge too, by the way, how about a steam turbine powered by the glass refinery, since you just need the turbine to be heated there is no need to vaporize water after the system starts to run, gg .
Did they remove the pressure requirement? It made the steam generator not usable.
6 лет назад+1
Sorry tim, I think I expressed myself badly, the turbine still needs pressure but currently almost all experienced players know how it really works and how you can "fool it" about the temperature of the steam, but anyway you still needs a constant source of heat (or use the neutronium bug), so I suggested the glass refinery that releases even warmer liquid than magma. If you want to know how to "fool" the turbine or use the neutronium bug I have a video on my channel just talking about the steam turbine (activate the subtitles because the video is in Portuguese).
True, I've seen some other vids and I can make it work but its really not a realistic source of power right now. I don't want to go through the hassle when there are far better sources and they will likely change Steam Power later as you shouldn't have to use bugs to make it useful.
6 лет назад+1
I agree, but it is only for the challenge of automating a steam turbine using something that isnt magma or a bug... after all that is the goal of this series of videos xD
Hey brothgar, when you're done with the series, (which I hope never happens) can you upload the save file? I have some imporovments i want to make on your various systems
Ender seems alot like the creality. everything looks very similar. what is the print volume? I'm enjoying my 3d printer, but haven't had much practical use for it. I did print out some nifty new handles for my steak knives. Very good quality.
3d print a 3d printer? Methinks people these days have forgotten what started this boom of cheap, home 3d printers. - the RepRap project, which was officially intended to be a machine that could print it's own parts. For practical reasons it's a long way off from full self-replication, but it IS where 3d printing at home started from, essentially...
Is it OK to go back to your file on the cosmic upgrade if you already played it with the expressive preview? I didn't create a back up of it so I am nervois
Stationeers covered a crucial element of survival in gas atmosphere, which was mixing enough nitrogen with the oxygen to counteract oxidative stress by oxygen toxicity. Something ONI omits. Could I write my own mod to allow gases to mix ("Nitrogen, Inc."), or will that have to be done by the devs themselves?
Don't refine your metal if you have a metal volcano, I ran out of unrefined metals and then your limited about the transport rails you can build kinda important for this challenge!
Brian McCracken nope, duplicants can empty bottles of gas or liquid on the floor, they just can't move it first without a bottle emptier as a delivery point.
If polluted water produces polluted oxygen, and you could turn that polluted Ed oxygen into normal oxygen. Then does that mean we could make a lot of oxygen without using algae or normal water?
You can, I think, but the oxygen produced is very small. I've heard that the metal refineries put out way more oxygen for the same amount of polluted water (or just convert it faster) and a few of those per duplicant can produce it. Edit: Brothgar has a video on bubbling for this: ruclips.net/video/r_STqOYCN1g/видео.html
NO, not even with hydrogen bubblers. those can only convert so much polluted oxygen and at most you will get something like enough for 2-3 dupes at best unless you go for overkill setups which don't scale well at all. In other words getting oxygen this way isn't efficient enough and don't scale compared to electolyzers,
Oxygen is converted to polluted oxygen by water at full value. Polluted oxygen is converted to oxygen via a deoderizer with a 50% loss in mass. You are bleeding oxygen by allowing it to be polluted then deoderizing it.
I wonder if bloody mess colonies like this will work with expressive... Yes Brothgar, im talking to you, it all being a gulag has to change, so get to planning things :)
From the Wiki (and my own base) As of the Cosmic Update, Steel was added as a recipe in the Metal Refinery. The recipe will not appear on the Metal Refinery until after you have obtained Iron (Iron ore -> Iron) from the Rock Granulator or Metal Refinery, and Refined Carbon (Coal -> Refined Carbon) from the Kiln, and Lime (Egg Shell -> Lime) from the Rock Granulator.

I found a nat. Gas geyser and I had like unlimited power at cycle 260 and then i found out that it will become dormant in 13 cycles ...then i found another one and it was dormant for 30 cycles I also got all my 20 tons of coal wasted ...iv got no power ..but 2 hydrogen generators ...which are off 90% of the time due to lack of hydrogen and wrong gas input damage... i need help
Martin Dinner Yeah pretty much...I have 4 of them in 2 different rooms and one gas pump is pumping like 3 kg of oxygen /cycle but they also produce 300 grams of natural gas so iv made a design around my base to get rid of it into the generators
brothgar, for your base i tought that you could a battery room where you concentrate all your smart batteries(to spare space and centralise the power stockage) into a power stacking room where all your power lines would come from. if you do it (wich would be awesome), do it in a cold biome to avoid any overheat incident with your batteries. what do you think of that idea brothgar ?
Devil Raylenn i think that idea would be impractical, as it would cost way too much to build all the extra cable. And having the batteries in the cold biome would just heat up the area because they constantly generate heat. Its a cool idea though
I agree about the wiring but the heat wouldn't really be an issue with a thermal nullifier and a few temp shift plates and flooding it with hydrogen and brothgar could easily set that up.
Scanicus one that is a good point. I completely forgot about the nullifier. But having all the power in one spot. There are only so many paths the wires can take and it will look like spaghetti
Hey Brothgar, love this run and i'm kinda playing along copying and improving on your ideas. One thing i noticed is that the 400W from the nullifier sounds much but isnt that helpfull if you process a lot of stuff or rely on water from geysers (80°C+). My cooling loop contains 2 Nullifiers and was not able to keep up with my base and 4 Generators. I now have a power plant with 10 Natural Gas Generators (I run a polluted oxygen condenser) that is self cooled by an Aquatuner Loop. The gas for 4 generators is from geysers and the gas for 6 is from crude oil processing with a volcano. The loop cools down petroleum down to -44°C and the temp of the PW is stil dropping. I'm planning on dumping heat into the polluted water and then reprocess it. imgur.com/a/ByhmRGf PS: Setting player-connection-debug= to 0 in boot.config increases FPS on dev build back to almost normal. Probably doesnt help with bug reports anymore though.
Instead of a gas filter using 120w use a gas pipe element sensor and a shut off valve using 10w instead. forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91156-multi-filter-and-cooling-loop/
If you want to automate your algae deoxidizers, simply add an atmo sensor above them and space them out. Good tip for all the new players, his vertical ladders 2 blocks apart are suuuper inefficient haha, not just speed wise like he says
Dupes can mine 4 blocks up and 3 down on a ladder
So you can just make a ladder staggered every other block, and then horizontal ladders every 8 blocks (7 empty spaces in between each row
And just have two normal vertical ladders on each end
Like this:

You need one more refinery for steel.

Sadly if it goes long enough the impacts will make their way to your base. The recent update fixed that at the space rock zone doesn't get destroyed.
Ive been looking at 3d printers. I think I might have found the one to go with. Not a bad price either.
Water bugs through the mesh tile when u start up ur game. Use granite. Holds water good
How did you build your giant 3D Printer. I would love to have something like that for Prop making.
Brothgar, did you ever say what temp you set those temp sensors to? I’d love to do something similar but I have no idea where to start
How have the algea terrariums not run out of algea yet?
I have the same water spills mistery, solved: when an airflow tile is close to a standard one water may pass through - a bug I think
esaedro microflora yeah it’s a bug. I believe they patched it in one of the latest hot fixes though :)

Could you share the settignsgor your ender 3, pls?

lets up the challenge on the 3d printer! Print a 4d object....
Ya im being stuipid

Print a 6D printer

You mispronounced Nails' name again.
It's well-known that's it's pronounced "screws."
