Before SSX, this was the best snowboarding game, bar none. I played it to death, beating every challenge. "You must own this game," was the main advice I remembered from the IGN review. Back in '98, I used a mono Radio Shack RF modulator to connect the N64 to me and my brothers' old 19-inch, hand-me down, remote less, Curtis TV. I had a strange compulsion to improve a/v quality in electronics. The Curtis only had a single 75-ohm coaxial input, but by using an active, exterior, RF modulator, I could send the video to the TV for close to composite video quality, but branch the audio off to my Sony mini system. My father had an "a/v enhancer" device lying around, for tape to tape VCR recordings. It also had an "audio mixer" function. I would turn off the music for the N64 game, leaving the sound effects on, then pipe my music like Zeppelin, The Who, Beatles, Now!, Or even Phil Collins from a CD player to the mixer and combine it with the (sound effects) audio from the N64. Awesome times playing 1080, while listening to Beatles' "Day Tripper" !
I have a buddy who just swears by this console. He never bought a GameCube after. He never got a new console post n64. He never cared about the console exclusive hype from Sony, Microsoft, or Sega. Just got the n64 when we were kids and stuck with it. When we got older, he did build a pc and would occasionally play games on there but he mainly used his pc as a hobby to learn about hardware and software. So all he really ever used it for was tinkering with honestly. I think the only pc game I ever saw him play frequently was WoW. Anyways, fast forward like 30 years later and he still plays his n64 like it just came out. Funny enough, I just stopped by his place last week for the holidays and he was doing a 1080 playthrough.
The nostalgia is real. This was one of the first games I ever played. .. I remember it looking so REAL on those old CRT tvs lol. God i havent seen this in 24 years

Ugh, I missed this. It brings back memories. This game got a lot of play, along with Starfox 64, and Mario 64. Oh and Wave Racer. That was lots of fun too.
I remember this game when I was a little kid when I was at my grandma's house growing up she had this and golden eye and other n64 games she put down the n64 in her basement downstairs and me my brothers and my cousins would all play the n64 when we visit her and we used to sleep in the basement too man thoses were the days
This game needs some practice to be much good at it. I tried playing once a few years ago. I couldn't do anything I'd been able to do as a kid. I couldn't get off the line quickly. Could hardly turn. Couldn't land jumps... etc. I didn't know whether to be frustrated or proud when going up against my time attack ghost runs. I knew it would take me forever to get back to that level after over a decade of not playing. Thinking about 1080°, Zelda, Goldeneye... anyone else wish they could've stayed 10 forever?
6:52 I remember using that jump to try and do a backflip because the game didn’t have an actual way to perform a flip… I remember rotating sooooo sloooowly. Can’t remember if I ever landed one or not though…
