I was thinking a starcraft game like Natrual Selection 2 could be cool an RTS FPS hybrid where the commanders both play an RTS while the rest of the players are units on the field in FPS.

I'm all for a Helldivers-esque shooter in the SC universe. Could work out. I'm just afraid that Blizzard will be following a trend this time, and not starting it, and could be late to the party
lets hope it doesnt end like concord 😅 they should take notes on Halo 1-2-3 on how they were successful back then.

@Lorenzconnok man is that ever a good point, watching YT artists "fix" concordes character designs makes it very clear that the art team was either overriden by fools or colorblind or silent quitting. Space Marine 2, Helldivers 2, all these thirsty anime-is titles, there should be more than enough indicators for a team like blizzard have to make a starcraft FPS a banger even if they are trend chasing a bit. Fun is fun and people dig blizzards world building, as long as the gameplay is good I think they'll clean up financially.
@@stardawggunrocks5152 Every one of those were ***Design Choices*** NONE of it was "a mistake". They did that on purpose. Ugly is what they strove for. Ugly is what they got. They were ***pleased*** with their results. Every one of the "art and design" staff confirmed that with a multitude of forum posts, tweets and screeds everywhere they were.
I think a lot of people are missing the fact that, according to Jason Scheier, this shooter game only would have started development early this year after the survival game was canceled. So it’s going to be a long time before it officially gets announced, assuming it doesn’t get canceled. Still, between this, GamePass, and Phil’s shirt, Microsoft clearly sees some value in StarCraft as a franchise.
They should make a Joke SC2 FPS game where you play as a creep tumor and the whole gameplay is you spreading creep to the edge of your range until some marines or stalkers clean you up

@@martinlatour9311 A mmo IS the thing the current staff is the most qualified to make. WoW has had some bumps but the level of success it continues to have is actually insane. The biggest problem with them making a new MMO is that they would need to pull staff off of WoW for a product that directly competes with WoW which would be an insane thing to do.
Greed and money from WoW destroyed that company and you want them to make even more money with another cow to milk? Ok :p
Maybe but Zerg being a playable race would be kind of stupid. Zerg are not an individualistic species in the sense that having a bunch of Zerg player characters just hanging around, shopping and trading would be extremely immersion breaking and silly lol. They are a Swarm. So that would limit playable race to just Terran and Protoss.
@@T0rche Remember SC2? There were a lot of individualistic characters in Zerg race: Dehaka, Zagara, Abathur, Stukov etc.
Also you can have factions inside of each race, for example Protoss from Aiur and dark Protoss from Shakuras.
I think the best options would be a survival horror type game where you're a Ghost against the Zerg, or a Helldivers clone where you can play as any of the Barracks unites and you fight against the Zerg, Protoss and terrorist Terran group. Imagine the droppods would be air support from all the air units or a Siege Tank line, it's the perfect setup.
And for everybody talking shit, if you genuinely think Activision would have any ideas of making Starcraft 3, you're being obtuse and delusional. A good shooter is all you're going to get out of this, and I'm down for any future Starcraft content (assuming its good of course).
"good" is relative. Especially considering the trash gamble balance sc2 is these days (Microsoft gave the game 1 update and then let it bleed out, with the worst mappool in existance wich u cant even veto properly)
I think itll be mediocre at best, with many battle passes, skins, DLC content that take up most of the work force.
activision-blizzard-microsoft, board of directors are, in the end ,controlled by shareholders who only wanna see short term profit at the expense of a good game.
Just look at the most recently released titles from them. It all just screams 90% of dev power is in monitization and lead devs whos only focus (thanks to kotick incompetency) is in revenue streams.
The 10% who is working on the game wont have the resources, time nor creativity to create something other then cinematics.
Good gameplay is literally the last thing they want, because it takes actuall time money and effort to create. And why would they do that, if ppl are already sold by cinematics alone.
I'd like the game to be like Natural Selection 2. It's one of my favorite FPS games and the RTS + FPS fusion needs a come back. Natural Selection would be a great template for the new StarCraft game.

There was this mod in Arcade where you play first person as a unit of your choice, playing as Hydras was quite cool, hopefully it goes in this direction and you can play as Zealots and Ultras and whatnot
Having been a fan of Starcraft since 98 I really feel that the only direction they could go with it is by making a sort of FPS game. They should offer to play through the campaign as each race and as different units. Tackeling the campaign as a zergling or a lurker, high templar or vulture. From achivements you could unlock playing as a goliath, ultralisk or archon.
Blizzard is a rotting corpse stinking up the room as far as I'm concerned.
This doesn't explain the most important question after mentioning SC1/2 on Game Pass. Which was why I continued to watch. What about the maintenance of SC2? It needs to be in proper management. Keep SC2 up to date not just in terms of balance. Also preventing cheaters and making sure it is properly serviced.
I think i speak for us all when i say we are very happy and excited for Starcraft 3. its a simple word "Starcraft" with adding a number that even a child knows "3". Starcraft 3 next gen RTS focusing firstly on campaign and coop, then secondarily on multiplayer.
Can't wait to play it.

Blizzard has such a special place in my heart. We never saw the announced "Starcraft: Ghost" FPS. Obviously it didn't fit the standards Blizzard was always aiming for.

I am still dreaming of a massive sci-fi-movie in the StarCraft universe. It's really all there. The lore, the design, the score, etc. It could be really epic, there is so much "ressource" and with the right kind of approach, I think you could make so much out of this, even for a greater audience, who just love good science-fiction stories / movies. Although they never played any of these games. If they did, all the better!
There's so much to work with in every aspect. What a great universe to work with!

Speaking of SC: ghost i have a memory of going to visit a friend of my parents in Lille in france and while we were there there was this gaming museum/convention idk. i only remember there being a thing called Game On, that i later learned there was a french tv channel that goes gaming/geek/internet stuff with that same name idk if it was just a coincidence.
In that museum thing the way it was layed out was gaming through the ages. It start with pong in a huge computer that sent an image through a projector to a wall because at the time there were no screens that could produce an image and it went on and on through comodores and atarii's and what not. And i have this vivid memory ofplaying an fps, seeing nova, and being on a platform that would go around this sci-fi gapping hole where you had to action something, there were vents like an halflife game.
At the time i didn't know what starcraft was. i saw some promotional probably or heard it once, saw marines and aliens, thought it was like an halo game, and there it was a halo like game where i am a human with gun and ngl it took sc2 to come out and i hyped my classmates that i played a sc before at an event thing, and then they were like wait this sint a shooter, and i was as shocked as they were disapointed.
I thought i was crazy that i had played an fps starcraft game and never heard anything of it again, to me games dont get canceled either that concept didn't exist. I don't remember the year but i don't take it out of the possibilities now that i think about it that soemone just saved a demo of it or smth if this event happened after it had been canceled ( or it was to showcase games that are created and then canned idk i just wanted to game)
I hope its a Battlefield like game with all 3 races battling it out….
honestly blizzard could be making warcraft 4 and I still wouldn't care, I've lost all interest in the company and the goofs who run it. I say that as someone whose best gaming memories are from blizzard games

I tend to agree. Blizzard is just not the same company. There needs to be a comprehensive plan to really make a good hit. It will never get approval by management, as it will take time, resources, and talent
@@Eraz0rZ Actually we all hated diablo immortal, but I think it's doing better than anything else they have done in recent years. Mobile gaming is big it's probably keeping their lights on at this point. Sad state of things for a company that made diablo 2, starcraft, and warcraft3. WoW was huge but i was sad they didn't make another RTS
A Starcraft shooter in the style of Star Wars battlefront could be absolutely amazing and I've been wanting it for over a decade...sadly I have no confidence the Blizzard wouldn't fuck up an incredibly simple idea like that

"This is fun let's try Brood War" "Oh this game is too hard.. lets try SC2"
SC2 - Gets beat by cannon rush since the engine is so fast and streamlined.. "This is dumb lets go back to the shooter"

@TastelessTV I have been thinking on this for a while now and I honestly think a single player campaign from a marines perspective shooter would be unbelievable. A halo-esk single player return to form.
Pretty sure the upcoming StarCraft FPS will be a mix of Helldivers 2 (multiplayer mode) and Space Marine 2 (Campaign).

They dont, they left to stormgate. The only tallented people left are cinematics/ 3d modeller artsy types who sold there soul to create the illusion of a good game, by making fancy graphics and cinematics, purely as a marketing ploy. Cuz thats all u need to sell games these days (look at D4)
@@Eraz0rZ its not that bad, it honestly shouldnt be too hard to develop an RTS. I think a team of around 40 people at least could build a quality game in the span of 3+ years. Definitely the Creative Director, gameplay & mechanic designers have to be very good. Starcraft already has a good foundation

The second you said blizz is making it, I'm not buying it or even giving 0 fs. I played wc1, wc2, wc3, d1, d2, d3, WoW, Hots, sc BW, sc2 . I'm done with blizzard after seeing how they went from going the extra mile, to doing the most pitiful remakes.

How activision blizzards budgets games:
40% of devs work on cinematics cuz thats what sells games.
60% of devs work on monetizing games cuz thats what generate profits.
10% (read overtime unpayed work) will actually create the gameplay loops.
why ppl think that even if they make a sc fps that would mean that they will follow it up with a RTS? If that fps sells good isn't more likely that they will just make more fps titles in the sc universe?

Overwatch league was silly to me because you would tune in and 99% of players are Korean. It really made it hard to root for any teams they all felt and looked the same.

honestly, I don't even think starcraft is a strong IP anymore other than that it is a stellar RTS. The world/lore of the game, beyond the graphics/sound design/unit barks, was always 2/10 compared to other sci-fi books and franchises. The games are amazing, but they are certainly not carried by the setting. Not sure why anyone is excited to play as a marine shooting a zerging, or a ghost shooting a hydralisk?? Maybe it's just super generic and boring because I have played so much, but to me it sounds way less interesting than 40k or something with more character/soul. And that's not considering how much SC2 just ruined all of the lore.

If it's anything like Space Marine 2, great. If it's another live service shooter for tweens, that's a pass.

5:10 They did not 'drop the ball' by not claiming DotA, it is in fact a blessing that they didn't make it, and made HotS instead. Now we have 2 excellent MOBAs, compared to 0 if Blizz did it.
