I have been playing a BM Hunter since WOW's inception in 2004. I have seen the ups and downs for the spec. We have been getting the shaft for a while now. I, for one, will complain to Blizzard. Much appreciation for all the work you do and the information you provide the Hunter community. Thanks!
It's a "fact", based on every single expansion and major patch since last 3 months of BfA, Devs clearly don't like BM Hunters. If I use the "hate" word here, I wouldn't even be exaggerating. It's rather pathetic at this stage to see how quick and harsh they nerf this spec "if" it ever comes close to anything above middle of the pack despite them tuning it like crap to begin with. 🤢🤮
Blizz devs are just sad people. A game should be balanced no matter what your pref is for a spec. Sounds like the defs are no older then 10. And that would explain the many crashes and bugs it has. It's a Indy company. Just revoked my subscription.
It's like they saw that we were happy with the PTR changes but forgot that it only makes sense when you combine it with ALL of the changes including hero talent rework. I'd just leave things be until then... losing this kind of ST is not worth a meme AOE buff for a few weeks.
The only thing we can hope for is that they buff it in the spring or hope BM scales way better than other classes with more gear and ilvl that’s about it. Other than that time to switch classes to get into mythic raids or keys now

This is Blizzard in a nutshell. They are a childish company with no structure. And they just do that to annoy people. I mean BM with PI in raids is not great esp on bosses with some adds. So they kill the one thing that was still a little viable. Now it is bad in single and multi target! Unsubbed and not returning to WOW anymore. They can fuck themselves. Typical American behaviour.
I was looking forward to getting my 636 crafted weapon next reset and my DPS sky rocketting, now these changes are being made and it negates all of that effort put in. This sucks man pls blizzard do something! 😥
If you aren't one of the highest parsers, aren't highly consistent (low variance in parses), and you aren't mythic progging, this has little effect for you.
There is absolutely no reason for Blizz to push these select changes out early. Hopefully Blizz changes their mind and waits until 11.0.5 like originally planned and pushes out all of the changes. BM is my favorite hunter spec and I really enjoy getting to play it in mythic raid right now. I play MM and Surv too in keys and they are fine, but BM has always been my favorite spec, and it's already been so sad that it's not playable in keys.
I wonder if this is by design to push people away from BM into MM (and SV)? I think it's a poor design choice, and it deserves a Dev explanation into the logic behind it. This will push raiders into a single ranged spec and remove choice, due to some of the benefits running a pet offered. You have to question their intent and logic given what the numbers are 'currently' showing, as on the surface, none of this makes any sense ....
Thanks a lot for all the work you do @Azor, i had such high hopes for them to fix BM since i main that, and felt forced to go MM or surv in mythic+ :( and now i can't even be BM for ST fights in raid... looks like we'll be forced to switch specs, if i don't wanna get benched for progress. Hope Blizzard sees this and takes a serious look at BM to fix both ST and AOE.
the other insane tuning happened in dragonflight early season 2 iirc. MM got nerfed by 3%, when it was already behind BM, only to get buffed by 5% like 2 weeks later. Just absolutely wrong direction the first time for no discernable reason. This is even worse than that though. PI being good for BM means we are getting nerfed because of a priest ability, despite not actually being the best ST spec or outlier in any significant way, while also having the worst raid buff and minimal raid utility still.
After many tries over the last years to get into WoW, I finally got into it 6 months ago, with playing a hunter. Levelled it up from 1 to 70 as a survival, changed to BM when I started raiding, M+ and so on. Totally fell in love with it. Seeing the AoE nerfs in TWW was not cool, but this now is just really heartbreaking. Thanks for your work. Your guides helped me a lot to become the BM I am.. or maybe was. Guess I'll read up on MM now.
Ya I have no idea what in the world they are thinking...I know they were planning on nerfing collar in 11.0.5 along with a bunch of changes to dark ranger to try and normalize the ST and AoE dmg for BM, but these are like cherry picked changes from the planned 11.0.5 and just should not be pushed live.. Even if the 11.0.5 changes fix what is broken with BM, why push these massive nerfs and kill the spec until the 11.0.5 updates? Makes little sense to me

Thanks as always for these extremely informative vids Azor!! We knew the Basilisk Collar 2/4% nerf was coming. Kill Command was going to be increased to 20% a week or so ago, now it's 18%... what the heck. Not that it would've made up for the 17% loss from BC :^( Soooo disappointed.
Bm has always been my go to.. love it and it is sad to see it fall. I played MM out of necessity like mechanical nathria because pets AI. But always fall back to BM. Here is hoping blizz doesnt break it completely
If they are not bringing the rework with reset do not do the basilisk collar nerf (with the "compensation buffs"). I rather have the spec still be the worst in aoe but at least decent in single target

So yes, you are right for making that trivial statement, it is a game, but my point is when you are mid and you pigeonhole yourself into one class and spec, you get left behind. Its not that hard to understand.
Changing to MM is not an option now. Specially when the stats ar basically reversed. I guess my guild will have to carry me until the 22nd and then we'll see . Thanks for your content, really informative.

Blizzard has historically always had the worst balance team of almost any MMO I ever played, so I'm not surprised. You'd think the biggest MMO could afford intelligent people doing the changes.

Love how they continually nerf hunter everytime it's doing alright. How about nerfing unholy DK, Dev. evoker, and did warrior really need a buff, I think not
Blizzard has never like that they designed a ranged spec that could move constantly while shooting. I am getting the feeling they are about to destroy BM like they did the old version of SV - nerf it into the ground partway thru an expansion, make it basically unplayable for end game activities, then pull a surprise massive redesign for next expansion.
That sucks i liked switching them up between bosses cuz some of them are cancer with MM and that little pet heal goes a long way. Guess ill have to start practicing

Me see survival buff, me happy. Honestly the tier-set is super boring and doesn't feel like a huge dps increase(Before/After buffs considered), but at least we are getting some love
Stuff like this really makes me question the developers who are responsible for hunters. I myself do not care a lot about BM as I think it is the most boring least rewarding specs in the game, but I love MM. And after the whole community was crying out to pls bring S4 MM to TWW back. MM with hero talents still feels worse than S4 MM did. And it is so tough going backwards in gameplay. Really takes motivation out of it knowing the best gameplay is behind us. Imo wailing arrow not working with trickshots is the biggest mistake right now. That would make gameplay fun again. But yeah sorry for rambling. I miss S3/S4 gameplay

Do the changes coming in the anniversary patch for Dark Ranger in any way compensate / align / make things less terrible for BM. I feel like these were previously announced changes going in that patch, but rather than do them all together, they have split them out. I really do not understand the logic here...
They partly compensate for the ST change, mainly by making the Training Expert talent a 1-pointer which enables us an extra, highly valuable, talent point. It remains to be seen how the Dark Ranger changes will affect BM's numbers overall and it doesn't really make sense to "pick and choose" changes from 11.0.5 like this. We will know more when the patch is coming out.
Nothing at all, these people couldnt even get shit to smoke without gettin robbed. Blizzard was once a Symbol of quality, but as we all know they got rid of that since the Brand Name alone is plenty, thats why no good dev would ever work for blizz lil pay check lol
I'm just a little curious...if BM's ST got nerfed by ~9% and they're now 10-15% behind MM for ST, doesn't that mean they were at best on par with MM for ST and possibly behind even before these nerfs? It seemed like prior to this, people felt the play for ST (with 4p) was BM.
@@socalminstrel When bm and mm sim equal, you play bm because it's way easier to get the most out of, and it was also the best pi target in the game which gave bm a 40k net advantage.
I don't get it.. you said in your previous video, when they announced they gonna nerf basilisk collar and buff kill command, you said cudos to Blizzard because these changes are actually good and the changes are moving to a right direction. These are only part of the 11.0.5 changes. If they had also moved forward the Training Expert change, this would be a very different video. But they didn't, so we're screwed. These changes are not 11.0.5.
It being a good change is contingent on the compensation being there. They did move forward ALL the 11.0.5 changes, only a few, and the end result is the video.
This is sad, I play MM in M+ already cause bm was garbonzo. But I was happy playing BM in raids where I can ST alot more.. Playing MM in raids just sucks, maybe ill go check out survival now for raids..
This makes me sad. Don't like the doomer vibe some people get on their tuning but this reeks of people who don't have a real concept of math being in charge of making balance changes...
11.0.5's Training Expert 1-pointer change will partially cancel out the nerf, while retaining the AoE buff. It is difficult to predict the exact impact of the new Dark Ranger without sim tools that we do not have yet (and likely will not have until shortly before 11.0.5 launches).

BM is the only hunter spec i play, i have no interest in MM or SV. It just kinda feels demoralizing at this point...

If you play Dark Ranger MM, their stat priority is fairly similar to BM. Crit Haste all the way.

Well, PI might help quite a bit, but let’s be honest, if a Hunter is doing bottom of the chart dps, what priest is going to waste PI on them?

This is exactly the same as in DF S1 with the Bow. Blizzard: "OH we have something do wrong. We will fix that". And BM is Dead for 2 Contents -.-
BM should be nowhere near the top dmg in raid or m+, so this is overall a gd move.
MM still needs ST help though

It's because it was assuming the BM got PI. This change makes them no longer the best PI target which means they'll end up below MM without PI

I think delves are a fun new solo activity in the game but I dont think they are so fun that they should turn a spec into a delve only spec

It being a good change is contingent on the compensation being there. They did move forward ALL the 11.0.5 changes, only a few, and the end result is the video.

This is sad, I play MM in M+ already cause bm was garbonzo. But I was happy playing BM in raids where I can ST alot more.. Playing MM in raids just sucks, maybe ill go check out survival now for raids..

11.0.5's Training Expert 1-pointer change will partially cancel out the nerf, while retaining the AoE buff. It is difficult to predict the exact impact of the new Dark Ranger without sim tools that we do not have yet (and likely will not have until shortly before 11.0.5 launches).
