Those Hyperions are so warm, definitely my favorites of this lot.

We are two. I loved this single coils (pickups I never use) they are really balanced and not so hot so I think I could even use them!!
Are the single coils combined with the 500 k volume pot just like the humbucker? Or did you use a concentric 250/500k pot?

I can’t believe how unbelievably bad those Hyperion singles sounded. I’m sure it’s someones cup of tea, but it lacks chime and fidelity and kind of ruins whats great about the Strat style single coils.

I'm sure you can pare any pickup you want, but there are probably good and bad matches. I don't know if my match is one or the other, but I would put in a Custom 5 in the bridge and do the Antiquity for M+N
And now an observation and a question: I replaced the Hyperion single coils with Fender Vintara pickups. There is one problem however: pole spacing! To my surprise the Hyperion Pickups have a narrower pole spacing. This aligns the outer poles nicely with the outer strings (narrower string spacing modern bridge...). So the outer poles of the Vintera pickups are not aligning with the high and low E strings. Question: Can I find pickups with a narrower pole spacing somewhere? Since Seymour Duncan makes the Hyperions, do they offer similar spaced replacement pickups?
IMHO The 2204 custom is the winner for me. The Hyperion ones sounded flat to me.

This represents exactly what I hear in the Hyperion pickups vs "regular" Strat pickups. I just don't like them: middly, flat, no chime/ high end, lifeless...etc. As an experiment I replaced the single coils with Fender Vintera 60's. Much better :-).
That's exactly why I like the Hyperions, I don't want my Ibanez to sound chimey like my Fender,...need something a bit warmer, boomier & middling for metal.

I really want to know that too. Really prefer that mint to the awful pearloid. It shouldn't matter but that'll make a big difference to if I'd buy one 😂

I was curious about this as well. I had an Ibanez AZ2204 - with the floating trem and the Hyperion pickups. I recently got an AZ2204n with the Fortuna pickups, and I GREATLY prefer it. The demos of the Five-Two sound pretty similar to the Fortuna pups to my ears. I ended up selling the 2204 and keeping the one with the Fortunas. Made a huge difference in tone and sounds much more vintage.

First, thanks so much for this vid! Not only excellent playing (not always with youboob vids!) but the comparisons are very enlightening. But I digress, for the confusion.....
That "Pegasus" at around 7:15 is EXACTLY the tone I want for a bridge pup! But er, how did you get a nickel/chrome plated one? Did you order it special? The only ones I can find under any circumstances are the black ones, which seem to have distressed poles/screws. Mine is the "premium" HH that is black with all chrome hardware. I'm not a fan of the stock "Hyperion" pups. I don't want distressed though, but I'd really like what you have ;) Any info is appreciated (I also reached out to SD)

Hi Luca. About your custom Ibanez, the only difference are the pickups? The AZ 2204b single coil pickups have a non-brigth sound to me, like others with the same hyperion pickups. It seems like the tone is down.

Thanks for the review. In ur opinion since u tried them all, how much this statement is true, "the HH Hyperion set = Pegasus/Sentient set just for Ibanez"?
I love the Pegasus/Sentient i use them on most of my guitars and i really like an Ibanez that has the Hyperions, but i dont want a different tone on stage when i change guitars.

Try listening to it carefully. They are quite similar in terms of dynamic range and tone, but it's slightly brighter due to the bass response isn't much as the Hyperion.

Basta che compri una cover SD spaziata trembucker e gliela metti...
