I was teaching high school, had tonsilitis. Couldn't speak, but couldn't take time off. I played this movie to 20 classes. I watched it with them every time and never got tired of it. Great movie!
Especially the part where Faye hears the song on the radio for the first time while mailing letters. She stops with the stamp stuck on her tongue, then runs off, forgetting to mail the letters, runs back, shoves them in the mailbox and takes off down the street screaming. She happens to run by the Bass Player and tells him what station to turn to then he takes off running with her all the way to Guy’s father’s store. It’s funny when the Bass Player stops, in all his excitement, to wipe his feet at the door. Jimmy and Lenny just park their car in the middle of the street and leap out, then run into the store where they begin to turn every radio in the store to that station. It was so well done, the way the music starts through a high pass filter, to give it that transistor radio sound, but as each nicer stereo system comes on, the bass becomes richer and richer until that real nice high fidelity stereo fills the whole store with the music, but not until T.B. Player slaps it a few times. (T.B.Player is actually how “The Bass Player” is listed in the credits). Hanks never gave him a name in the script. The Old Man starts bitching at all of his friends. “Son, you wanna get your cotton-picking mitts off of that..”. My favorite is, “Put that Dow! That is a very expensive floor display!” which is a cardboard cut-out of some lady that is very, very 1960s looking, but she was the only thing Lenny could find to kiss. I thought he was going to kiss that girl, who might be Guy’s sister or cousin or some relative. IDK, she may just be an employee, but I know he doesn’t pay her. When Guy left to go on tour, the father promoted her to Guy’s position and she said, “does this mean I get paid?”, and he said “no!”, so I figured she must be a relative. Anyway, that is a great scene of many in this charming film. Hanks did a hell of a job on this movie. Just a great story about characters who would never hang together if it wasn’t for the one common thread, their music. It was a quite genius plot thread that Guy decided to speed up the song, during a live performance! Luckily, it paid off for him. Jimmy finally agreed that it was better fast at the end of the scene in the store, where they hear it on the radio for the first time. It’s easy to miss, but he does say “you were right, I knew it all along” as they’re dancing around the center display in his father’s store.
You obviously were the cool teacher everyone hoped to have.❤Anyone who could watch this movie multiple times & never tire of it...that's cool in my book!!😂

Poor Faye, she is so enamored with Jimmy and he does her so dirty. Also, this must be an extended scene deleted from the theatrical release. The part about recording the B side (in one take) wasn't in the original cut.
Me too!! "Do you know what this is?" "Presidential flash cards?" My brain tells me to love Skitch Patterson but my heart and laughter is all for Lenny... ^_^
In the actual released movie the scene ends exactly at 2:42 The last word is "Wednesday" and then the next scene I believe is cut to Villapianos restaurant where they sell the 45s at the door. So after 2:42 all action was edited out. And what was edited _IN_ that you don't see in this clip is Lenny shaking his head at Jimmy and whispering "no, no." as if to say: don't be such a pain.
The Dark Knight In the movie, when Mr. White asks for the tapes from the church recording, Jimmy states that they were only able to do one take for the B side and asked if it could be done, again. O-ne of my favorite movies.
One of the most underrated movies ever
Tom Hanks wrote some of the songs .Love the movie.
It was actually Adam Schlesinger (bass player for Fountains of Wayne) and Jody Porter (the guitar player from Fountains of Wayne), but Jody didn't approve the submission of the song and was not credited.
I've never seen it.
tony wilson don’t forget piper pop royalty, Mike Viola. Check out his solo stuff
This is such a great film..
2021 anyone???! 😍😍
Yes, RIP for Adam S. Such a great song, this.
Poor Faye, she is so enamored with Jimmy and he does her so dirty.
Also, this must be an extended scene deleted from the theatrical release. The part about recording the B side (in one take) wasn't in the original cut.
It's from the Directors Cut.
"Hey, wasn't that our fan?" No that was Jamie from Progressive Insurance. LOL!!
I have virtually adopted most of this movie's dialog into my daily vernacular haha.
Yes, it IS Chris "Wicked game" Isaak! Just had to IMDB it. Didnt know he was acting too...
A classic movie. Awesome!
"Whose Luke"... Wednesday 🤣🤣🤣
❤❤❤
Chris Isaak can be my Uncle Bob any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
This Is My favorite movie ever!
Legendary movie, turned me onto the drums
Let's make a bet: Who here thinks, "All my Only Dreams" is fine just the way it is?
I like how Uncle Bob is helping Faye out on the rhythm clapping.
“Hey wasn’t that our _fan_ ?”
I love this film! And the soundtrack is good too.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My wife and I quote this movie all the time.
And what was edited _IN_ that you don't see in this clip is Lenny shaking his head at Jimmy and whispering "no, no." as if to say: don't be such a pain.
yup director's cut version here presumably it was included in da DVD.
Ok I was wondering. I’m only familiar with the shorter version. I was scratching my head like “I don’t remember this!”
Personally I think the editing was perfect. I liked the transition after "Wednesday."
The movie just flowed so much better without the director's cut.
I love the 2.5hr cut of this movie.
The Dark Knight In the movie, when Mr. White asks for the tapes from the church recording, Jimmy states that they were only able to do one take for the B side and asked if it could be done, again. Mr. White says that it’s fine just the way it is. That B side single take must have been killing Jimmy.
From Brent Spiner…”What did Patrick say?…(as Captain Picard: ‘I LOVE this film!’)”
Some say uncle Bob was so inspired by the Wonders that he started a career in music and changed his name to Chris Isaak
aaannnndddd now I have to watch the whole movie, lol
Wow that thing you do was a awesome movie
When you realize that both of the men that played Mr Heffley are in this movie
Great movie, especially for hometown pride!
I never knew that Uncle Bob was played by Chris Isaak. He’s a pretty good actor tbh
Great little movie.
The claps were a clutch addition.
How did they get Chris Isaak to play Uncle Bob. That's the most random thing ever.
"And we have to watch our language".
Long live Liv Tyler Goddess
😳👍👍👍👍
Uncle Bob went on to produce The Who’s “Who’s Next” and Pink Floyd’s “Animals.”
Fun fact the fan is on Friends
And Twister, Never Been Kissed, Charlie's Angels
@@Legoflymaster89 ...and _Cable Guy_ (1996)
Uncle Bob is the 5th Wonder. WTG Bob.
"I think it was STILL too fast."
Agreeing, it's just a couple bpm too fast.
