    A musk to consider in incense accords would be *Musk R1.* Paird with a smokey material it can already form a very basic accord reminiscent of incense sticks. Similarly works *12-oxahexadecanolide* (actually Musk R1 = 11-oxahexadecanolide), but it's harder to find/less frequently offered.
    A good woody material to use with incense accords containing one of those musks (or both) would be methyl cedryl ketone, especially if the goal is a darker theme.

      I haven’t smelled musk R1, I’m sure vertofix would work well here

    I’m actually working on an oud formula in the incensy direction so this video came right in time. Thanx for another great video mate

    I love that you didn’t even for a second consider a frankincense material for this accord! :D
    I’ll definitely make this one up cz basically every material you chose are favorites of mine I reach for very often, except for the oakmoss so I’m very intrigued to base it on that.
    I probably would’ve started this on Olibanum Vulcain and IDD if it was a brief for a more realistic or conventional approach, but I am absolutely curious about this accord.

      Great point. Lots of people think Frankincense when they hear the term incense, however I use the term in the broader sense so for me it’s not always the first thing that comes to mind. That said, there is a frankincense note in the Oud base and frankincense would have fitted well inside this composition

    Thanks Sam for this informative video, I really like this format. I love ambrocenide as it just seems to bring something special in the base for some of the formulas that I have been working on. It is also one of my favourite materials. I haven't tried using any cinnamon in my accords but I think I will try this out and see if I like it. Yes to more accords thanks

    Another excellent vid Sam. Great tip about the cinnamon. I'm might just have to borrow that woody super-amber moniker too. 😉 Nothing subtle about many of them, that's for sure.

    Love your videos Sam! They have helped a lot. I wanted to ask something about dilution. If I get something prediluted in DPG, do I consider it a 100% when making perfume because if it's diluted in ethanol, we can subtract that amount in post. But DPG is different, So what to do with it? Thank you so much ❤

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  Месяц назад

      You can do either. I usually treat it as already diluted but not all perfumers do and you don’t have to.

    I ordered 9 chemicals 2hours ago, and I had in checkout ambrocenide, then I took it off, then put it in again, and I ordered without it... 1 hour ago you talk about ambrocenide :( .... castoreum is wonderful, got it last week with civete... civet not as good as castoreum

    Hello Sam, what if we don't have natural jasmine can we replace it with Cis Jasmone or other AC compounds ?
    Thank you

    • @sammacer
      @sammacer  Месяц назад

      Cis-jasmone alone isn’t enough to recreate the smell of jasmine, however that’s one component which you can couple with others to make a jasmine recreation. This is something I walk through in my online course.
