Excellent lesson. Having played for decades, I knew pretty much everything you showed, all the shapes, scale tones, etc, but the way you put it all together resonated more than it has for me in the past. And that little sliding barre for the B chord is something I never really thought of before, but will add it to my repertoire. So simple I feel silly for never having thought of it before. This is the first lesson of yours I've looked at, but just subscribed, and will be looking into your other videos.

I owned various guitars at various times throughout the last 50 years. I never practiced, never knew what to practice and never did anything consistently with them. Thusly although I dreamed of playing the guitar well, I never advanced beyond the level of basic beginner. This video has done more for my playing growth and development than anything I’ve tried over the last 50 years. Now that I’m retired with not as much to do, you and this video have given me a great gift of hope. I can’t thank you enough.

Great lesson Rusty !! I,ve been using one string interval movements to find the chord intervals and adapt the pentatonics around the intervals to create phrases for a while ..This just opened another door !.What you,ve shown is closely related to a 12 bar blues bass line structure .. (Bass guitarists will relate )
I love it when pieces of information connect 👌 thank you !!

Here's another pro tip: If you're having a hard time breaking out of the pentatonic boxes, improvise over backing tracks. Trust me on this, it takes months but you'll get to where you can improvise over anything. Sit down everyday and improvise over at least three full backing tracks. Even if the stuff sounds the same. Just keep doing it. All over music even if the notes take you outside of the notes in the scale.

    • @rustysguitar1

You are right! I takes many many hours of practice! We just have to keep doing it! Thanks buddy for the comment! ✌️

I have been practicing this guitar thing for decades. Took me about 50 odd years to start seeing the relationship found between chords and the notes found within them. I am thrilled with one more little step I've taken in my journey
