Love my Pinion equipped touring bike here in California, where almost no one is even aware of the product. No more derailleur hanging precariously close to the ground, or messy chain ready to tattoo my leg. Looking forward to future developments from this amazing company!
Truly the best thing to happen to E Bikes and when you think about it, it is a no-brainer. I just wish we could get them in Australia. The existing 90Nm motor and light weight expensive cassette is not fit for purpose. It's like putting a V8 in a mini car and wondering why you keep blowing the diff. I have a Turbo Levo Alloy Comp. Love the bike, don't love replacing light weight cassettes.Bring on the motor gearbox combo. Thanks for seeing the light.
@@PinionChannel core complaint currently is that the emtb brands with MGU are very european (and german centric), so americans feel left out. But yeah, fingers crossed.
I don’t understand why they are very hard to find in the United States. None of the major brands use this revolutionary idea. It’s 2024 and when you Google EMTN Bikes with Pinion you get almost nothing.
Of course, the North American market is on our list, but it often depends on the bike manufacturers. Right now the biggest in the US is Priority, but let's wait what is coming!
You guys at Pinion are killing it! As a owner of couple MTBs with Pinion gearbox I'm looking forward of seeing a "light weight" version of MGU that fits the same mount of the standard Pinion gearbox, that would be excellent. Cheers!
Thanks for your comment, well that's easier said than done; the MGU is already packed with technology. Trying to fit it into the same or nearly the same size as the classic gearboxes and have the same frame mounting, is almost technically impossible.
Several reasons: 1) Requires a non-standard bottom bracket in the bicycle frame. Has to be made to fit Pinion and Pinion only. 2) Weight penalty. The Pinion gearbox is much heavier than the traditional bicycle chain, cog & derailleur design. 3) Price. This product will only be found in high end bicycles. Like the Rohloff Speedhub, it's expensive to manufacture, must be high tolerance and doesn't enjoy the economy of scale of, say, an automobile transmission. 4) Efficiency. The bicycle has an incredibly weak motor. Thus it needs to be super, duper efficient. The cog & chain power transmission model is without equal in efficiency, low weight and cost. The Pinion gearbox has less efficient power transmission, but it is admittedly very small (but still noticeable by most experienced riders). That said, it is well designed and made. Combined with a carbon belt, it makes greasy chains a thing of the past. Same with toasted rear derailleurs! Definitely has some pluses with e-bikes as well, where weight is not a concern.
We are working on reducing noise levels, but the system will never be completely silent while it operates, provides motor power, and shifts gears, because it is a mechanical gearbox. Only when going downhill-when the motor is not engaged-is the system nearly silent because of the belt drive.
@@LivingLifeOfSeeker Not sure, what you mean by IVT. If you mean Intelligent Variable Transmission like the one in cars then that's something different. Please have a look at our website how our bicycle gearbox technology works: pinion.eu/en/technology

Fantastic work guys. I hope bigger brands will start adopting your technology. Non electric Canyon Spectral with Smartshift is my dream.
So let's wait for Eurobike 2024 to see what awaits us.
I love my Pinion gearbox with my carbon belt on my PRIORITY 600x is the ride of a lifetime I would never go back to the old ways.
Sounds good, thanks for your comment!

Waiting for a Pinion equipped EMTB to be available in Australia...
I'm very surprised that this is the first that I've even heard of Pinion, considering that it's been around for a while now..
So good, that we made the video and catched your attention 😀
II am actually excited for the MGU, I only wish the bigger brands will get on board with it.
Time will tell, let's wait for this years Eurobike!

Can a left side crank arm Stages Power Meter be used on a Pinion gearbox? I don’t want to use a rear hub or pedal style pm. Thank you
No, there is no power meter option.
Are you guys going to be at the 2024 Sea Otter bike event in California?
We won't be there with a stand, but our partners from Gates Carbon Drive will be.
Thanks for that. Btw any plans on Pole MTB using ur products?
Can I swap my C12 for your motor powered version ?

@@PinionChannel plus you need to add the battery. Might be tough to do on a bike that wasn’t originally designed for a large battery.
Mysterious 😅
Ich find es gibt jetzt schon eine gute Auswahl mit starken Brands👍
Denken wir auch, aber mal abwarten, wir sind ja erst am Anfang :)
Is pinion equipped bike available in India?
Many bike manufacturers or shops are shipping worldwide, but I'm not aware of any dealers in India.
Love the Porsche connection. Mein Fahrrad und Auto können Schwäbisch schwäzen!
