    48:49 It's funny how Penn said him and Carlin became "Wayyy" more atheist after 911, because I was 19, and that's exactly when I began my journey toward hard skepticism. I can tell, because I looked back to my journal of quotes as I was growing up, and there is a twist after September 2001.

      The greatest thing about him, that I can pull from this conference, is that he's ridiculously open-minded. He has not set any of his ways or has said my way is the best, he admits that there is room for being wrong and that allows him to grow. A lot of respect after hearing him talk.

    • @KOakaKO
      @KOakaKO 9 лет назад +1

      Xanifur - If Penn is speaking at a college for $20,000, then he's taking a pay cut. He has to not play a show in Vegas. He has to travel to where it is. If he'd stayed at home, done another show that night, he would have earned another $80,000 or so. He's not there to "gouge" you. He's there because he wants to speak to you about the things he believes in, then reminds you that YOU need to understand the things you believe in.

      _"If Penn is speaking at a college for $20,000, then he's taking a pay cut."_
      I'm sure he would, but the fact remains that 20k pretty much would mean that he won't be doing such events. And honestly, Penn isn't that special. Student organizations would be far better served spending such amounts of money on other speakers.

    I'm a libertarian/an-cap and in some situations (probably very few, just based on fear) I *would* use a gun to steal from someone in order to give another in EXTREME NEED food, healthcare or other necessities. I would not, however, pay money to a hierarchy called the "state" and support their use of the gun nor would I pay money and allow a simple majority (aka democracy) in my arbitrary geographic region (aka nation or country) to decide when, and under what criteria (the hardest question), the gun should be used.
    The way a libertarian feels when someone says, "You don't care about the poor since you don't support a national single payer system" is the same way an atheist feels when someone says, "You don't believe in morality since you don't believe in god." The government (as opposed to governing) is neither an ethical nor practical means of achieving good healthcare (or security or law or economic growth) anymore than belief in god is an ethical or practical means of achieving moral behavior.

      The concept of "a god" wasn't allowed. THE capital-G God, in a very specific way, was all that was allowed. It's possible they could have been ministers and swayed people that way (who knows how atheist anyone can manage to be in a place where that isn't a concept?) But a mouthy person speaking against the status quo--they would have built a new gallows to make sure it was tall enough to hang Penn.

    Anyone that can look at creation, or a baby being born and say there’s no God or no Creator , IS A FOOL ! It says in the Bible , that it’s scriptures sound foolish to the ones PERISHING ! .... Were counting time by Jesus.... think about it.... out of the billions of people that have walked the earth we’re counting time by 1 of them ! Something rather significant happened I’d say ! 😂 ... I like to call it the mother of all arrivals ! The Bible is the only Book in all religions that is backed up Historically and it’s 100% rock solid ! I’ve studied it for 33 years ! I’ve convert non believers all the time just by simply showing them historical truths ! God is real and he loves you , he loves humanity so much that he sent his Son to die on a cross to pay judgement of our sins, because we’re all sinners and we’ve always been that way since the fall of man. Jesus can save your life ! Amen

    In response to what I have been seeing many atheist announce with all the intrepid alacrity in the world: contradictions in the bible. Here is my vindication of Christianity and THE axiom of which atheist shrink from.
    Atheism: the belief in nothing. They BELIEVE in nothing. Yet they live in a corporeal universe, and they are in fact in a corporeal body. Yet they hold to the belief in nothing. Isn't the fact that we have matter refulgence of fact enough to start those gears of logic to turn and seek from where this material universe originated?
    Piety...its a virtue and the beginning of the ability to reach salvation.

    i like pen and I think he keeps it real for the most part,..
    but I heared the joe rogan moon debate, and he has an unfair assessment..
    he had already decided joe rogan won before the debate started,.. and I just didn't see what he was talking about,.. I thought rogan failed miserably,.. he was louder and more inturuptive,. but was countered everytime sensibly .. joe rogens aggresivness may be liked by some and are easily impressed by it,.. but came off as insecure to me. but penn was selling from the start and trying to set up a fake narrative that joe rogen was going to be more charming and all this BS and was going to wipe the floor..
    anyways,.. I was a listener and not one of the ones that thought we didn't go to the moon or I didn't think joe rogen won,.. I thought he lost

      I personally think Penn was joking, perhaps to get more people to listen to it. I like to think Penn knows better than to seriously claim a person with no facts and bullshit "evidence" won a debate simply because he was louder.
